At level 2 and from there on out, be cautious from charm. Use your Inspire for a burst of movement speed to dodge it. Avoid wasting Mantra Q (she'll use one ult to dodge it). Post-6, watch for her roaming.
Akali
Try your best to poke her down pre-6 but post-6 you have to be care. Make sure to keep vision of her post-6. Your W reveals her inside of her stealths.
Anivia
It is very hard to bully her as her burst and survivability (passive) is better than yours. She will often push you in post-6. Try to coordinate ganks and let your team know when she has passive. Try to just farm.
Annie
Be careful at 6. Don't try to fight her if she has bear and more than 2 stacks of her passive. Her burst is more than yours. When she tries to Q/W (or both) you, shield yourself and throw a Q. Tibbers will often block your RQ, so you should just R+E/R+W if she throws it down.
Aurelion Sol
I don't like this match up. I just do not. His orbs make it so that you cannot Mantra W him without getting hit with damage or go straight up to his mouth and take a stun and all of this while getting auto-attacked.
Azir
Pretty easy lane. Shield his poke and watch for his shuriman shuffle for when you R+Q
Cassiopeia
I doubt you'll run into a Cass but you cannot walk into Q's. Her W has a very wide range. When getting near her to W, prepare to dodge in an awkward direction.
Corki
His burst is very high mid game. I'd focus on HP and MR. Make sure you have good wards for when he has package.
Diana
She's easy to poke down at all points. Her burst will out-do yours later but if you have the correct resistances and if you Mantra W or E, you'll be more than fine.
Heimerdinger
Farm lane. Do not try to fight unless you KNOW you can kill him (take Zhonya's into account) he is oom, with no turrets, or you have 3 people coming.
Kassadin
Like Cassiopeia, I doubt you'll ever run into this guy. He has a magic damage shield. You'll miss at least 5 Soulflares on him because he'll ult away. When he R's onto you, R+W him and then auto and Q.
Katarina
She can be very jumpy/hard to track in lane but after a while you will start to see her habits. You should be able to poke her down in lane since she is melee, she s Do not let her roam and snowball. Care of her grievous wounds.
LeBlanc
Do not fight her if you know she has a mark on you or nearby minions. Mantra E will block her damage if you KNOW LeBlanc's kill combo and which one she will do.
Lux
She outranges you. Whenever she misses an ability with a long cooldown, go in and zone her. Always R+E if you get caught.
Malzahar
You will need ganks. Try to attack him when his E is down. Try to CS slightly back from your minions.
Orianna
She is also like you. She has more CC so make sure your team doesn't clump. Most of the time you can dodge her ult by E and running. In lane, you want to predict her ball movements and prevent her from zoning you but pushing (with vision).
Syndra
Her CC has a longer range. If you dodge her W and E, you probably can kill her or poke her out of lane. Even if you beat her, at some point she will have enough burst to kill you with her balls so just be mindful of that.
Twisted Fate
If he doesn't get any ganks, you win lane and he will try to roam so you should take TP as well.
Veigar
He'll lose to you until he has enough farm to one shot you. R+E cannot always save you from his ult. Run around in his ring, but more importantly while in his ring, dodge his spells.
Vel'Koz
His ult is insane if he's researched you. Don't let that happen. Also, he's stationary when he ults, so snipe him.
Viktor
His burst can be pretty overwhelming but if he gets out of hand, build mighty Abyssal.
Xerath
Dodge his Q's and get up close. He is like Lux, except his skills have shorter cooldowns. You should just try to farm and coordinate ganks. Be slippery and dodge his W and R.
Ziggs
If you dodge all of his bombs, he'll just wave clear until he uses his W to take your turret. I suggest you push him in and ward.
Zed
If you allow him to burst you down post-3, you're going to have issues. Otherwise, he cannot all from 100-0. Make sure you get seekers early.
Yasuo
He pushes the lane early on and it will mess up with your CS. When he all ins you, RW+E+Q him. That combo will make you get health back, slow him, and do some damage to him. Your W can go through his Windwall
Talon
He can be sorta predictable when he throws his Rake out and your W does reveal him. However, he has his terrain-hopping to save him (or catch up to you). His burst makes him a higher threat.
Karthus
Easy match-up. Use your E to dodge his Q's and do not forget to RE when he ults. Be wary when he dies. Try to poke him from a distance and when he is low, go in for the kill.
You can out-poke and out-damage him. Though his peel might be better. Try your best to stay away from walls. You can use Defiance to ensure that your team does not get trapped by his ult. In lane his autos do hurt quite a bit. But you out-range him.
Blitzcrank
Hooks completely counter Karma...even if you're good at dodging them. It changes your playstyle in lane and one slip-up can lose your lane. If you get hooked, RE if they have an ignite or burst. RW, if they don't. ALWAYS FLASH BEFORE YOU GET HOOKED. DO NOT ASSUME YOU CAN DODGE IT.
Braum
While you may not damage him much with your spells. Constant (and free) poke is worth a lot. His spells are easy to dodge and the only thing to watch out for while dueling him is to dodge his R and Q.
Leona
Track her cooldowns and poke when she misses her combo.
Lulu
This match-up really depends on how you trade and that depends on the ADCs. Generally, if your ADC can outburst theirs, you win skirmishes. However, time your fights with her cooldowns. Avoid long skirmishes.
Morgana
This match-up is incredibly easy if you remember this: Dark Binding CD: 11 (at all levels).
Nami
She's an all-aroudner...a better one than you are. Play with caution, depend on jg ganks. The only way I can see Karma winning this lane is if Nami goes oom.
Sona
She out-pokes you, however, is very squishy. Coordinate with your ADC to attack her when she comes up to poke and she will stop poking. At level 6, coordinate with your allies to dodge/bait her ult.
Soraka
Poke < Sustain. Dodge her Q's and she cannot heal herself. Focus her. Bring ignite.
Tahm Kench
He is similar to Braum. However, getting hit by his Q is much more lethal.
Taric
He really isn't that good of a support when you realize how telegraphed he is until level six. Then he becomes something that you need to worry about. He can and will turn the tides of fights. You can match his ult with your locket + RE combo. But in lane, you win.
Thresh
As much as I hate to say this, it's a skill match-up. It's really about who is better. While Thresh is a much better support than Karma, not all Thresh's are actually good. Likewise with Karma, you will get destroyed if you don't know how to play around him. His hook is reduced when it hits something. Keep that in mind.
Zilean
This match-up isn't hard...but it is frustrating. His hitboxes are misleading and at level 6, he becomes a pain in the ***. When he ults someone who is about to die and is OUT OF MANA, switch targets. However, if they have mana and a big spell, kill them.
Zyra
She is one of the few supports who can out-damage you.
Alistar
Even though he is nerfed, his combo can be devastating. Usually I have trouble in lane, but it fades away after lane-phase.
Brand
I truly hate this matchup. Try your best to dodge his combo. If possible, take the Q for your ADC.
Welcome to my in-depth Karma guide. Even if you are not yet level 30 or if you are Diamond, you can still learn a something from this guide. I have been playing Karma for about 3 years and she is my favorite champion. I tried to pack as much information into this guide as possible (and will update it as new forms of information become available). If you have any questions, feel free to comment. If you learned someone, I'd strongly urge you to upvote and give me feedback so I can improve. Once you've finished reading the guide, I'd advise you to stop by the KarmaMains Subreddit. You can find helpful tips and communicate with other Karma mains to find the best strategies. I'd like to give a shoutout to a jhoijhoi for providing helpful tips on how to create a guide. One of his many amazing guides can be found here.
Burst Mage (Mid)
Due to Karma's unparalleled versatility, she can function in the mid lane as a burst mage despite being known for her supportive abilities. Despite only having 2 damaging spells, Karma can poke a team down. Her damage is best during the early and mid phases of the game. It starts to decline as enemies start to complete their builds. Creative and superb Mantra usage late game is what can make or break a Karma player.
Focuses On:
Ability Power
Magic Penetration
Cooldown Reduction
Enchanter (Mid/Support)
This is the role that Karma is best known for. After all, she is an Enchanter and functions best in this role. She can provide early game poke that falls off during the mid game and becomes non-existent during the late game. However, her shielding abilities grows as the game progresses. While she lacks hard CC, at level 18, Renewal often can immobilize an enemy for up to 3.25 seconds.
Focuses On:
Shield/Heal Power
Cooldown Reduction
Ability Power
Resistances & Health
