Well hello, i am Smokeix from EUNE Platinum player.
I'll say few words about me.
I am a top laner which never lost his lane(with Riven) , i have been playing League of Legends since 2010.
I never thought that i'll go so far with League of Legends.
I am revealing my secrets, because i want other people to be good at the game or for example i want my name to be known.
When season 4 arrives i'll stream my videos on youtube, twitch etc.
About Riven and ME.
I have played riven since 2010 she was my main champ and she still is (Almost 4 years)
So i made an Ultimate guide for you guys.
Here are my scores, etc...I also do prefer Riven as a jungler.

This are the runes that i use every day at the top lane.
Why this runes?
-Aggression.
-Farm.
-Pokes.
-Defense.
Why flat armor instead having some magic resistance?
-Magic resistance will not help you against Ad champions.
-1 Item will fit all that magic resistance.
-12 Magic resistance is nothing to me, if you follow the guide you will have magic resistance more than needed.Although i got lots of rune pages so if i go against ap champions i change the rune page(Same rune page just with magic resistance)
go with Why late game glyph? Because early game glyph with magic resistance will be useless when the late game arrives.

Pros
-Aggressive champion.
-Easy to farm.
-Fun to play.
-Able to carry the games.
-Tons of damage.
-High CC.
-Tanky.
Cons
-Squishy in the team fights (early game).
-Needs tons of farm.

A lot of high elo players go for 9/21 which is depended on their gameplay.
(Some players love to farm so they go as 9/21 and make Riven a late game champion instead of Mid game)
I do not prefer 9/21 although there is situation where you have to go 9/21.

How does 9/21 look like

This is a great spell for escaping or killing your enemy. I use it always. Highly recommended!
Another awesome spell made for killing your enemy, when they flash you will know that ignite will kill them so always make sure that you ignite them on the time(Not too early not too late) also it helps you when they have tons of life steal example Aatrox.
If you have guts, use it instead of flash, it will help you a lot to chase your enemy and kill him, also good if your support goes with ignite over exhaust.
Not really recommended doesn't go well with Riven, my opinion.You really won't need it.

Riven's abilities charge her blade for 5 seconds, causing her to do 20/25/30/35/40/45/50% of her total attack damage as bonus physical damage on her next basic attack. Riven can store up to 3 charges, and can only expend one at a time.
-This is a great passive for tons of damage never waste it, always basic attack with it when you have a chance.

Riven strikes out in front of her in a short line. This ability may be reactivated 2 additional times.

[*] Slashes forward, dealing (30/55/80/105/130 +70% bonus AD) physical damage to all units she comes in contact with.

-High CC, great for escaping and chasing your enemy.
-Able of jumping trough the walls.

Riven's sword emits a burst of runic energy that shocks nearby enemies, dealing (50/80/110/140/170 +100% bonus AD) physical damage and stunning them for 0.75 seconds.
-Another great cc spell which makes your enemy stuned, so you can kill him, or escape.
Riven's does a quick dash in the direction of your cursor and becomes shielded, blocking up to (70/100/130/160/190 +100%
bonus AD) incoming damage for 2.5 seconds.
-Great spell against all the champions you can use it to counter your opponents spell example
when Garen uses hisyou'll absorb all the damage.

This isRiven's ult. It is awesome, powerful , especially the activated ability, and it wipes out escaping champions easily. It deals tons of damage on low hp-ed enemies and it deals almost no damage on full hp-ed enemies. It is able to give you attack damage in team fights so make sure that you always use it.

Follow this guide and you will end up in high elo.
-Don't insult anyone from your team mates.
-Be positive.
-Help your team.

This is one of Riven's biggest problems, yell for ganks stay under the turret try to out farm him. One of the Hardest Matchups

He is not really problematic for a good Riven, punish him in the early game and you'll pwn him in the late game also! Skilled Matchup
Punish him in the early game or he will punish you in the late game never feel to comfortable and relaxed against him even if you are in the lead! Skilled Matchup
Yell for ganks he's annoying as hell, he's able to poke and harras. Hard Matchup
Don't let him poke you, evade his and you'll do fine after you dodge it you can kill him. Skilled Matchup
Kill him before level 6 and you'll do fine. Skilled Matchup
Annoying pokes, wait for the right moment when he wastes his and punish him.
Easy Match
She's annoying, kill her in early game and you'll be able to punish her in the late game. Skilled Matchup
Now you have to keep him away from farming, play aggressive make sure that you buy wards and poke him. If you ruin him in early game he will be useless in late game

He is just too squishy for you. Easy Matchup

Take the early advantage as soon as possible and you'll do fine! Skilled Matchup
It can be hard sometimes it's just really a Skilled Matchup
Never underestimate him, a good Wukong can be a big treat. Skilled Matchup
Hes way stronger in the early game once your jungler ganks and if you get a kill you'll do fine against him. Skilled Matchup
This match is so good, that i always enjoy playing against Fiora, reasons are it will push your skills to the limit. Epic Matchup
Wait for him to miss his as soon as he fails his combo he will switch and try to you will counter him with your sheild and don't let him to knock you back save your Q combo and punish him. Difficult Matchup
This guy will annoy you badly if you don't manage to kill him in the early game, so rush on killing him and call for your jungler to gank before he reaches level 6 and gets his stacks on max. Rushing match
Another annoying match, you are able to kill him in the early game if he doesn't poke you too much, if he does run in the bush so his ghosts disappear, after that punish him with your combo. Skilled Matchup
He will be too easy for you, he is really squishy, you got your stun which will ruin his heal.Easy Matchup
This is a complicated match, it's not a hard, but complicated you can't kill her at mid game she will always get away, but take the advantage on the early game. Complicated Matchup
If you are a good Riven you will be able to out stand Volibear on the top lane, if you can't tell your jungler to gank and play defensive, punish him in the early game before he stacks armor and health. Complicated Matchup
Rumble is annoying, take advantage over your mobility to punish him and win the lane. You are stronger, way stronger than him in the early game so make sure that you take early level as an advantage. Rushing Matchup
Another annoying tank match, take the early advantage before it gets too late Rushing Matchup
Now this can be a hard match if he's a good Jarvan, he will rush for the armor and he will have enough damage to dive you and destroy you, you will need help from your jungler. Difficult Matchup
He won't be able to do much to you in the early game, and you won't be able to do much to him in the late game Complicated Matchup
A smart Elise will not push her lane, she will play defense and wait for her jungler to gank YOU, or she will roam and pick up the kills, so you should roam and help the rest of your team also take care from the ganks. Difficult Match up
He will be easy for you, he has no early game armor and most of all he needs to push, if you can't kill him your jungler can. Easy Matchup
Kha zix is really squishy in the early game and in the mid game you are able to own him at any time of the game. Easy Matchup
Another squishy champion that you will be able to pwn, you will also be able to kill him at any time of the game with out problems. Easy Matchup
Against Zac, Riven is absolutely fine, she counters most of his spells with the sheild, your ruins his and it also destroys his passive. Easy Matchup
You are able to punish them in the early game and in the mid game, take care from the ganks, they will not buy wards on the top so your jungler will have free ganks but only if you want to. Don't allow them to tower hug and outfarm you.

Great item with tons of damage and life steal, it's also great when you active your ultimate it will heal you more+basic attacks with passive.
Great survivability item which will make your enemies focus you less.
Great mid game and late game item, mostly used to crush enemies adc's and ignore their armor.
Another great survivability item with tons of health, slow effect and damage it will help you to hunt somebody down, i prefer it instead of Warmogs.
Damage, armor penetration, armor reduction mostly used on tanks.
CD reduction boots which will reduce the cool down of your spells.
Great boots with magic resistance and Tenacity will reduce all the CC.
This item will slow down your attacker it's a great tank item which would be a good choice if the enemy team has Jax.
This item will give you 400 bonus health and absorb all the magic damage, it's one of the best items when your enemy team has 4 AP in the team.
One of my most favorite items in game, it's just like cleanse, which gives damage and magic resistance.

If you are starting from another side, do the same (there's no difference a good jungler will not have the problems with sides)
Riven is a early game monster in the ganks so keep you'll destroy their game for sure.
Monster item for the early game.
One of the best boots which will stack with your skills.
My personal favorite item that i use almost on every champion that i play jungle with. Item talks for itself.
They're feeling butthurt.
Invincible.
Some hp, dmg, and great unique passive.
