Introduction

This is my guide to Volibear, i have found it works efficiently for me, but that may not be the case for you. please feel free to comment about what you may think could be improved and i apologize for any spelling or grammar mistakes that may be noticed through the guide.

Summary

Volibear is a hard hitting tank with great-ish CC ( Thundering Smash and Sky Splitter)whom is largely underestimated. The enemy enters a fight with you, they hit you, you hit them and they will think they win. then The Relentless Storm pops and you stop taking damage, or even heal more than they hit. before they realise they won't win its game over. Frenzy and they're pretty much dead and if they try to run, Thundering Smash em. its hilarious watching them squirm.

Runes

Greater Seal of Armor for early game sustain
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist glyphs because AP is much more painful late game, and you're more likely to be facing a tank or bruiser top
Greater Mark of Attack Damage for harder hitting or Greater Mark of Attack Speed to get your Frenzy stacks faster
Quintessences are variable, I use Greater Quintessence of Percent Health for the extra tankiness, but Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed, Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed, Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed or perhaps something else you find works

Items

Warmog's Armor is arguably the most important item on Volibear. The massive health bonus stacks with both Frenzy and The Relentless Storm giving you a large amount of damage as well as a massive sustain.

People tend to argue what about boots are the best. It is all a matter of opinion, but i have come to notice Boots of Swiftness are the most effecient because the main key to volibear is sticking to your opponent and the constant large amount of speed keeps you on your enemy. Aswell as the reduction to slows is extremely helpful for Thundering Smash

Sunfire Aegis is the next best item, giving both health for Frenzy and The Relentless Storm, armor to combat those pesky Bruisers and ADC's. The unique passive is incredible because you must stick to your opponent, and being a tank you want to be in the middle of a fight so the damage bonus will be incredible.

Spirit Visage is yet another incredible item, giving health (if you haven't realised yet, this build is based around health), magic resist for those painful AP carries, cool-down Reduction to throw, slow, eat and electrocute more enemies, more often. thats not what's so wonderful about this item. the passive give a 20% increase to health regen, meaning The Relentless Storm heals for even more health.

Randuin's Omen. health, armor, attack speed decrease on attackers and the active slow, helpful for catching people, or being pesky in team fights. what more could you ask for?

Maw of Malmortius is the first damage item in the build. people may argue whether to use Atma's Impaler. Either of these are viable options, but Maw of Malmortius has much better stats. This build already has a decent amount of Armor, but lacks Magic resist, so that's why Maw is better, as well as the passive that stacks with your passive, popping a barrier and letting the heal start itself up. A lot like just having extra health. the damage is just helpful for beating your enemies down.
