KalliassonĀ“s Urgot guide

Introduction

Hi there!
I'm Kalli***on(obviously my name is an expletive) and playing Urgot at EU west (add me if you'd like).

Urgot is an underplayed champion, I had barely seen him in any game before I started playing him. But I believe that if you learn how to play him he is a useful champion. IMO he is the funniest laner in the game for the range that he has at his Acid Hunter's.
Urgot has an awful range at his auto attacks, so he is not as all the other AD carrys that often has an great attack speed and range at their auto attacks (such as Caitlyn, Tristana, Ashe , Vayne). But he can still outlane these champions with his Acid Hunter.

Urgot is a champion that doesn't realy have an secured position, it's because he is kinda an offtank/anti-carry/AD carry. I use to play him as an AD carry bot but he can also play as solo top or in mid depending on which champions is on the other lanes.

Before voting I need to remind you that please try the build first. And I would also like to hear feedback on what could be better.
So.. Leave a comment! :)"Now as much machine as man, Urgot arrived at the League of Legends in search of the man who ended his life; necromantic energies coursing through his metal veins."

Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse
spaaaaaaace
Cons

- Jump on-effect champions counter Urgot easily ( Talon, Fizz, Jax, Lee Sin etc.)
- Bad late game unless correctly builded
- Doesn't have a definite position in this META
- Hard to farm with auto attack
- hyper-kinetic position reverse is hard to time

Runes

Runes

  • Greater Quintessence of Scaling Attack Damage: With these, UrgotĀ“s attacks will damage alot more and is essential, especially as AD carry.
  • greater mark of Desolation: These are a must-need, since all your offensive spells is AD.
  • greater seal of Defense: Armor is pretty important if you want to survive longer, and i prefer to survive rather than kill anybody.
  • Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist: Magic resistance is always good to have, for the reason that the enemy AP carry can make alot of damage.

Masteries

Masteries

Offense
Brute Force is an obvious choice, Butcher because it's easier then to kill minions, Sorcery for the CDR which is needed (I believe it's a waste to put masteries at Alacrity since your attack range sux), Demolitionist so it's easier to destroy towers, Havoc for more damage that's needed, Deadliness for the same reason as Havoc , NO Lethality or Vampirism therefor Acid Hunter cannot crit or lifesteal (it's spell vamp, ye I know it sux.), Sunder for the reason that armor penetration is always useful, Executioner so we can execute the enemy with Acid Hunter.
Defense
Resistance for the much needed magic resistance, Hardiness for the much needed armor, Durability since HP is always useful, Veteran's Scars for the same reason as Durability

Summoner Spells

Summoner Spells

Flash is a great spell to escape battles but also to enter battles. space
Teleport: The good thing about this spell is that you don't need to leave lane more than 10 seconds, so you can farm realy good with Teleport. It's pretty needed since my build is kinda expensive. But you can also help other lanes with Teleport, or even Teleport to an ward (maybe at Dragon or Baron).
space
Exhaust: If you feel that you have no problem farming without Teleport you should choose this spell instead. If you want to kill anyone this spell is so amazing, since their movement speed is reduced by 40% and their attack damage by 70%.

Items

Items

  • : These are the starting items, the reason that I buy Meki Pendant is for the reason that I would get OoM realy fast unless I didn't have that item.
  • : After you've recalled the first time you should buy Tear of the Goddess, buy Boots if you have money to that also. After that you should buy The Brutalizer that is making Urgot's early game such a pwnage!
  • : It's a must-need if you ask me since Urgot is so manabased, well without this item you wouldn't have as much fun bullying your enemy laners. Sell this item late game to buy a more offensive/defensive item.
  • : I buy these boots for the CDR that I would say is needed, but you could also buy Mercury's Treads if you want to be more tanky and/or if the enemy champions has alot of CC.
  • : I love this item since Urgot is all about it, the 45 armor is needed, the 425 mana is needed and the 15% CDR is needed.
  • : This item is good because of the armor penetration that it gives. When you get fed the enemies will buy armor, then this item kinda breaks through it.
  • : Mostly for its 700 HP, but ofcourse also for the small amount AD.
  • : Realy good when the game enters late game and the enemy-AD carry has a lot of attack speed. But also good for the armor, mana and CDR.
  • : Good mana, good magic resistance, good HP. But it's the passive that's worth pointing out. Every 45 second you can block an negative spell, which is good against Karthus, Warwick or other jump on-effect champions.
  • : In late game this is a good option since it gives 100 AD with it's maximum passive. You could instead of buying Frozen Mallet buy 2 Bloodthirster (in late game then).

    Viable options:
  • : A nice option if you want to be more tanky, or if the enemy team has a lot of CC.
  • : A tanky item which is a realy good option, especially with its passive.
  • : Could work, but not even near the best item for Urgot. The AP for Urgot's shield, spell vamp for Acid Hunter, the AD for his basic attacks and Acid Hunter, the lifesteal for... nothing(the auto attacks doesn't count^^).
  • : One of the most tankiest options with armor.
  • : I use to buy this when the enemies have a fed AD champion with a huge amount of burst damage, Tryndamere for example. It's a good item because of the passive that makes the enemy champions damage returning to himself by 30%.
  • : A great item since it gives 55 AD, also 36 magic resistance. And the item gives you more AD the more HP you are missing, and when at less then 30% health you gain a shield. A awesome choice if you build tanky.

Ranked Play

When to pick Urgot as AD carry

Urgot is an tanky AD carry who is unremarkable early game but his damage dissapoints late game so you need 1 more source of nice attack damage (but still tanky) in your team, such as Gangplank, Lee Sin, Olaf, Renekton, Riven, Sion, Skarner, Trundle, Udyr, Warwick, Wukong, Xin Zhao.
So, pick Urgot when you have enough tankyness, enough AD at other lanes and preferably with an duo mate as support who can pick the support you'd like.

Good team composition according to me (with Urgot): Urgot, Zilean, Gragas, Warwick, Renekton (I love tanky teams <3, survival more prioritized than killing). This set up has initiators in especially Warwick but also Renekton, it has tankyness, AD, AP and naturally... Urgot.
But you cannot only focus on your own team set up, you need to adjust after what your enemies is picking and counter their picks.

Bad team composition according to me (with Urgot): Urgot, Nunu & Willump, Katarina, Twitch, Master Yi. This is a bad set up since they have no CC except slows and Urgot's ulti. It's a realy squishy team (which I hate). The champions is not bad individualy, its the 5 champs together who is bad. And don't take me wrong on the set up I know it could have been worse, but I thought that a real set up with a support, AD carry, mid, solo top and jungler had to be shown.

Support Associate choices
  • This is an great combo for the cause that they both have amazing harrasment, and that just makes it easier to zone out the enemies unless they want to die.
  • Blitzcrank+ Urgot=<3. They are like brothers together, both robots, can it be better? This is atleast the funniest combo in the game IMO. hyper-kinetic position reverse+ Rocket Grab=end of the world... atleast for the opponent laners. With this combo you can outzone the enemy laners as with Zilean. BTW, won 10 games in a row with my IRL bro Urgot+ Blitzcrank, we made 3 opponent laners rage quit altogether and carried 9/10 games(normal games though).
  • With Soraka at your lane you barely need to recall since she has a heal spell and a mana spell.
  • Alistar's CC is amazing, works perfectly together with Urgot.
  • She is a nice harrasser with Hymn of Valor, she can heal with Aria of Perseverance, she can give movement speed with Song of Celerity, she has an awesome stun with her ulti Crescendo, so I'm like why not??
  • He has an heal, an armor-buff, an stun, an attack damage-buff. Good I guess. Haven't played with him so much though, but he is definitly a good support.
  • A decent support.
  • A decent support.
  • Never played with her but I guess she's viable.
  • Don't like her but I guess she works fine.
