Threats to Vladimir with this build

Threat Champion Notes
Leona Leona is a melee support and she can be abused in lane. she needs to be close to deal damage and the both of her engage are easily dodged by your sanguine pool.
Alistar Wreck this fool, Harass him all day. He does have Stupidly fast CC that can make you go WTF. No damage at all so when he pops his ultimate, just switch targets and wait out his ult. Lane should be a breeze as if he ever gets you under the tower, you can W away like a boss.

Oh, hello there, I didn't see you there. Welcome, sit down, have a cup of tea. Oh, I'm sorry my fellow friend, I haven't introduce myself to you, My name is SolarPWNage. Do you want me to tell you a secret? Ha, ha, ha... there is a man of the rift with secrets to eternal power, a man with the knowledge to the darkest... Magic.

You may have heard the... stories of this man, the... tales of those unlucky fools who encountered this man. Yes, you know him as Vladimir, but all of us who truly understand his powers know him as the Crimson Reaper.

Now, let me tell you my encounter with him, how he and his magic set fear throughout the rift.

The Pros and Cons of Vladimir Support.

+ infinite Sustain
+ High damage and increases ally damage
+ Naturally tanky due to bonus stats
+ Manaless
Vladimir offers great sustain and damage that never falls off throughout the game, he can harass without consequence as he can simply heal back any damage dealt to him. Vladimir also increases the damage output for his all of his teammates which is extremely powerful at all stages of the game. He also has a untargetable ability that lets him to never be engaged on, this means you can play extremely aggressive without consequences.

- Uses HP as a resource.
- Low peel early game.
- Doesn't have Hard Crowd Control.
- Countered easily by grievous wounds.
However, Vlad is not the support who can stop anyone in their tracks unlike someone like Braum or Janna Vladimir doesn't provide any sustain for his ADC which can hold back the advantages gained through trades. Also, he is damage oriented so he can't do anything to stop one-shots coming from enemy assassins.

How is Vladimir Support Effective?

Vladimr offers a different kind of lane, his kit allows him to stay alive for longer than the average Support. His Transfusion allows great harass throughout all stages of the game, Vladimir's Q also has one of the highest base damage in the game at Level one and he can recover any disadvantages received from trades. Vladimir can be someone who exerts large amount of pressure when played right, His ability to perform is much better in a duo lane because the typical mind-set within the Bot lane is to focus the ADC, while they attempt kill your ADC, you can deal massive damage before they realize that you are also a major damage dealer as well.

The fact that there are two lanners in Bot lane can also be beneficial as it

increases the damage from your Ultimate. We need to dissect this fact,

Hemoplague: Vladimir infects all enemies in the target area with a virulent plague that increases the damage they take from all sources by 10% for 4 seconds.

With this ultimate, It dramatically increase BOTH you and your ADC's DPS and give a huge, almost Broken, advantage in your all-in after Level 6.

Now, you also get bonus stats with every items because of your lovely passive. It helps you stay relevant in the game and maintain stats equal to your average laner. In most cases the lack of money makes most supports...weaker than a cannon minion, but you can keep up in stats with everyone else. It eventually means you may out scale, most, if not everyone.

// Since this Guide focuses a lot on damage, we need to go 18 down the Ferocity Tree with the standard support 12 in the Cunning Tree.
{ALERT:] Can anyone help me fix the formatting below?

Tier 1 // We take Sorcery because our main damage source is coming through abilities and any boosts to our damage helps.

Tier 2 // We are taking Exposed weakness because this in conjuction with hemoplauge skyrockets our ADC's damage to the next level. We could take Double Edged Sword but this is really down to personal preference.

Tier 3 // We take Vampirism because we want more healing to survive. More healing means more time alive, more time alive means more damage dealt.

Tier 4 // When it comes down to Bounty Hunter or Oppression , it really comes down to personal preference or the match ups. Have as your ADC? pick Oppression . Feeling the need to be a "kill Sharer"? Go right on ahead and pick up Bounty Hunter !

Tier 5 // Piercing Thoughts is the onlyreasonable choice due to all of your ability dealing magic damage.

Tier 6 // We take Deathfire Touch because you are always constantly harassing with your Transfusion, which applies the full duration of Deathfire Touch. This damage adds up over time and can be applied to multiple Champions. We can't always proc Thunderlord's Decree so it is better to have guaranteed damage than to hope you can pull of Thunderlord's.

Tier 1 // Wanderer is the best option because moving around the map is crucial to the success of a game, you can not utilize Savergry well enough due to you not able to last hit minions very often.

Tier 2 // Secret Stash is the most viable option because the more healing, the more time we are alive, the more we can deal damage. being alive means we aren't wasting time backing or staring at a grey screen.

Tier 3 // Executioner is the only choice as we don't have mana, and more damage is really good on Vladimir.

Tier 4 // Bandit is a great choice because we need gold to fund our very expensive build, since we can heal a lot in combat Dangerous Game isn't necessary.

Abilities fit for a demon

crimson Pact: Vladimir gains bonus ability power equal to 2.5% of his bonus health, and bonus health equal to 140% of his ability power. These bonuses do not stack with themselves.

Extremely over powered passive that gives huge bonus stats as you get more items. This reworked passive allows tank builds to be valuable now, the passive allows you to build either defensive or offensive and still gain a large amount of the opposite stat. With the buff to the AP gain per health, you can have some sort of Bruiser/Tank build instead of the full AP build if you choose.

Transfusion: ACTIVE: Vladimir drains the lifeforce of the target enemy, dealing magic damage and healing himself.

Each cast of Transfusion generates a stack of Bloodthirst over its cooldown, which is displayed in his secondary resource bar. At 2 stacks, Vladimir gains Crimson Rush for 2.5 seconds and 10% bonus movement speed for 0.5 seconds.

CRIMSON RUSH: Transfusion deals double damage and heals for 40 - 240 (based on level) (+ 5% (+ 2.5% per 100 AP) of his missing health) (halved versus minions).

DAMAGE: 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 (+ 60% AP)
EMPOWERED DAMAGE: 148 / 185 / 222 / 259 / 296 (+ 111% AP)
SELF HEAL: 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 (+ 15% AP)
RANGE: 600
COOLDOWN: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5

A great ability that has great damage and is able to sustain you from any injures you endure. Not only is this ability powerful tool for healing, it can really dish out a beating. As you level up this skill, your damage sky rockets as you can cast it every 5 seconds at max rank. In mid game and late game team fights, this skill can heal you for hundreds of Health points that can allow you to take two or three more spells or four to five autos compared to someone without this level of sustain.

Sanguine Pool: Vladimir sinks into a pool of blood, gaining 37.5% bonus movement speed which decays exponentially for 1 second and becoming untargetable for 2 seconds. Enemies who stand upon the pool are Slow icon slowed by 40% and dealt magic damage every half second, while Vladimir heals himself for 15% of the damage done.

MAGIC DAMAGE PER HALF SECOND: 20 / 33.75 / 47.5 / 61.25 / 75 (+ 2.5% bonus health)
MAXIMUM MAGIC DAMAGE: 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+ 10% bonus health)
COOLDOWN: 26 / 25 / 22 / 19 / 16

This is a ability that is similar to Fizz's Playful Trickster (or #WTF...NERF PLZ) as you become untargetable and can dodge many spells that may end your life. This ability does have a hefty cost of 20% of your current health so do be aware of when to cast this ability. This spell can dodge a lot of initiating spells like Blitz's grab, Malphite's ult, Nautalis' ult, etc. With the right reaction speed, you can avoid numerous death which will skyrocket your K.D.A., now who wouldn't want that? Please do note that it has a long cool down and damage from DoTs (Teemo's shrooms) will still apply to you even when are untargetable as long as it was applied before you activated sanguine pool.

Tides of Blood: FIRST CAST: Vladimir begins charging, increasing Tides of Blood's damage while rapidly consuming 10% of his maximum health over the next 1 second. Vladimir is slowed by X% after the initial 1 second if he continues to charge. After 1.5 seconds or if interrupted, Vladimir will automatically use the second cast.

SECOND CAST: Vladimir unleashes the stored blood in a nova of bolts, each dealing magic damage to the first enemy they strike. Enemies can intercept multiple bolts but can only be damaged once. Minions cannot block more than 5 bolts and if the bolts strike a minion, the bolt will do area of effect damage that only affects other nearby minions.

If charged for at least 1 second, enemies hit are also slowed for 0.5 seconds.

MINIMUM MAGIC DAMAGE: 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 / 90 (+ 2.5% maximum health) (+ 35% AP)
MAXIMUM MAGIC DAMAGE: 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 6% maximum health) (+ 100% AP)
SLOW: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60%
COOLDOWN: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5
COST: 2.5% to 10% Maximum Health

So this is the major rework in Vladimir's kit, It basicly became a 360 degree Ashe . This spell is really an improvement to Vlad as it allows him to set up an easy Transfusion right after Tides of Blood. Also this could to cast in conjunction to sanguine pool making this a deadly combo and high potential to stick to enemies.

Hemoplague: ACTIVE: Vladimir infects all enemies in the target area with a virulent plague that increases the damage they take from all sources by 10% for 4 seconds.

After these 4 seconds, infected enemies take magic damage.

Vladimir is healed per champion damaged by the detonation.

MAGIC DAMAGE: 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 70% AP)
RANGE: 700-875
COOLDOWN: 150 / 135 / 120

The sole ability that makes Vladimir support effective. Many supports reduce damage, heals and only some increases the damage of ADC Auto Attacks, Vlad increases ALL DAMAGE coming from your ADC. Now isn't that something?

Your kit is GOD-LIKE and you will be the fifth carry of
your team.

With the revamp of the AP items, there are new viable build paths opened to Vladimir. Now, with the changes it is possible to afford 7 items that costs below three thousand gold.

I will talk about the viability of items below:

Spellthief's Edge/ Relic Shield.

Viability: 9/10. Picking your starting item really depends on two things:

1. Does the enemy bot lane counter you AND your ADC?
2. Do you have an inherent advantage in lane?

If #1. applies, pick up a Relic Shield. Ever since your AP gained per HP scaling has been buffed, Relic shield has become a completely viable starting choice. While cheap and effective, it gives you a bigger power spike earlier than most supports.

However, if #2 applies, pick up a Spellthief's Edge. We are here for lane dominance and this starting item will pack quite a punch for every auto and Transfusion.

Abyssal Mask.

Viability: 9/10. Abyssal Scepter is extremely viable for Vladimir as it gives us everything we want on Vladimir. Ability Power, Magic Resist, Cooldown Reduction and AoE Magic Penetration. This Item received a hefty buff with the trade-off of being slightly expensive, it is always a top-tier buy.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

Viability: 9.5/10. One of the most powerful AP items in the game, It not only synergies perfectly with Vladimir's passive but also removes his low Crowd Control issues. Now this Item is reworked to be slightly weaker but better build path and reduced cost makes this a perfect buy!

Liandry's Torment.

Viability: 9.5/10. Liandry's Torment is a very nice item that walks hand in hand with Rylai's Scepter. The passive is great for poking and shredding tanks, it is the AP version of Blade of the Ruined King. It also synergizes quite nicely with Vladimir's passive, but while being slightly on the expensive side. Oh, and not to mention the Magic Pen provided that makes your spells hit like a truck.

Hextech Protobelt-01.

Viability: 10/10. Ever needed a Fifth spell? Well, we got one just for you! for the LOW LOW price of 2500 gold, we give you a dashing ability that produces an AoE attack that can hit the same target multiple times! Seriously, this item is really broken (OP-OP)! It not only gives you burst power, it also gives a engage/disengage ability. Every one of the stats provided by Hextech Protobelt-01 synergizes with you. I don't know what else to say other than "Just buy it!". However, you need to keep in mind that it CANNOT PASS THROUGH WALLS :( .

Zhonya's Hourglass.

Viability: 8.5/10. Nice item overall. the reworked Zhonya's now give cooldown reduction so it is now easier to max out your 40/45% CDR. I like it even though the Ability Power was gutted 40% (or 50 AP) from its former glory back in season 5. However, it does gives a lot of resources to you and helps you to survive any burst, Magic or Physical. The only reason it isn't a perfect score because Seeker's Armguard takes minions to stack up, thus making you slightly weaker when buying that item.

Spirit Visage.

Viability: 8.75/10. Spirit Visage gives us a hefty amount of tank stats that helps at all points of the game, but what we really want is the bonus healing you receive from Spirit Visage's passive. Ever since Will of the Ancients was removed, healing is desperately need by Vladimir to stay alive in fights. Thankfully your passive gives you a good amount of ability power attached to this item so you can deal more DPS. This is core when you are facing a bursty mage on the enemy team.

Zeke's Harbinger.

Viability: 8/10. An interesting item on Vladimir that I have been theory crafting for quite some time. This item provides two things that is really good on Vlad, AP and increases ally's Damage! When the passive procs, it increases your ally's ap by 20% and crit chance by 50%, this on top of your ult is just...TONS OF DAMAGE!!!!! (Not Bad!).

Viability: 8/10. Nice item overall. the new AoE heal is pretty decent for Vlad. I do like it on Vladimir as it not only gives it some health (and a bit Ability power from passive) but the real kicker is the increased heals we recieve from the passive. 10% isn't too much but it racks up over time. Imagine a 5 man ult and 4 seconds later, 4000 hp heal!

The reason to KS like a boss

Many people misunderstand the term K.S. it doesn't mean "Kill Steal" It means "Kill shared/Kill Secured"

(You)-> "WAIT, WHAT? Nah Bro, You blazing it on Teemo's shrooms, it means kill steal."

(Me)-> "SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... You know nothing John Doe."

(You)-> "Uhhhhh...."

(Me)-> "Repeat after me, YOU are the carry, You will K.S. like the carry you are."

(You)-> " But, I'm the Suppor... I must... NO, I CAN"T! No, Please! I...I M-must K-k-k-K.S. LIKE THE CARRY I AM!"

(Me)-> "Gooooooooooooooooooood."

Now, Lets discuss why you must take all the kills possible. First of all, you have a ridiculous amount of damage to the point where at points of the game you can 1 v 1 their ADC. You are going pseudo full AP so your build will be and is going to be Hella expensive. Plus, you will be Transfusion harassing so much that you will be reported to the FBI for domestic abusive tendencies while your ADC will be free farming through the entire game. An average/good/Pro ADC will not hate on you for the K.S. as most of them knows the secret formula to snowballing is:

1.) (A,D,C)= Farm(C,S) > Kill(s)
(better study that, might be on your promotion series test.)

Plus, you keep them safe from any harass so it is a win-win for everybody! Hmmmm... I see you frowning at me, I'm Dead serious. Spelltheif's edge isn't going to cut it, You most likely will sell it after 15-20 minutes and never upgrade it so it either comes down to K.S. or last hitting to get your expensive build. However, you do have 4 other guys doing the C.S. so that leaves only you to do the K.S.
Honestly, True story brah, Average Supports carries Game 1/10 games, Vlad carries 10/10 games, ALL THE TIME.

How to play Vlad Support

Vlad is all about lane pressure.

You need to make sure your lane opponents know that you are the Boss, and that is how you dominate your lane.

As I have stated before, you need to fight through fast skirmishes during the early levels. Go in with a fast Transfusion and back out before they know what hit they. It is important for you to level up Sanguine Pool (a get out of jail free card) as your 2nd ability as most supports have hard crowd crontrol as their first or second spell, this might mean you could be heavily punished for your harass and possibly give up first blood.

After you get your ultimate, try to force a fight when you know you can land your ultimate on both bot laners.

Your combo goes like this
    1. Cast
    2. Channel
Tides of Blood.
    3. (Optional) Cast
Sanguine Pool to dodge abilities.
    4. Cast

Your goal is to force your opponents out of lane. This will deny both Gold and experience, now you are not trying to kill your opponents but if you do, good for you. However, do try to be the one who engages to draw all the focus on to you as you can heal everything back.

As you leave your lanes and join your team around the map, just transition into a regular Vlad play style, you are a fighter and you should be able to cause mass chaos for the enemy team.

Why Void Staff can be ignored. (W8, Wut Brah?)

We don't prioritize Void Staff.

(You)-> "But Solar-Senpai! if we are going full AP won't we need Void..."

(Me)-> "SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh, my child, you have been blinded too long by the Meta."

(You)-> (Gasps, eyes become wide open) "WHAT DO YOU MEAN SENPAI?"

(Me)-> "Fu,Fu,Fu. You Know why we build Liandry's Torment, Sorcerer's Shoes and have AP PEN RUNES?"

(You)-> (Gasps again) "You don't mean..."

(Me)-> "YES, EXACTLY! MATH TIME! 15+15+3(2)+9(.9)= 44 (MAGIC PEN)! WELCOME TO AP MATH, B1TCH!"

So ya, with this build of magic pen, you can skip void staff for more fat AP as the flat magic pen is then same as 35% of 130 Magic resist. In conclusion, If your team is full AP and there are 2-3 people with 130+ Magic Resist, then feel free to build Void Staff.

Summoner Spells

Ok, if you think about it, which summoner spell synergize with Vlad the most? (hint: Ult)

(You)-> "But Vlad doesn't have any utility! Isn't Exhaust solving that problem?"

(You)-> (Widens eyes in Shock) "Did I say something wrong?"

(Me)-> "Whelp...not really. Exhaust does solve Vlad's lack of Utility, HOWEVER, we are a kill lane."

(You)-> "That means we need as much damage as possible?"

(Me)-> "Yessir!"

Yes, Ignite's TRUE damage is increased by your ultimate. Talk about OP baby! If you can kill the enemies fast enough, they will not be able to deal as much damage to you as if they were to be exhausted. We prioritize Ignite as in "Why you should KS like a boss" we explained that we need kills, and Ignite is the perfect spell for your teammates to type,

(Teammates)-> "Thanks for the K.S."

(You as support Vlad)-> "No problem, I love Kill Sharing. I'm so generous it's like I'm a red cross for Freelo!"

Guide Top

1. Kalista is great with Vladimir because of our Hemoplauge. She walks almost hand in hand with Vlad because the two of you are both Teamfighting/Skirmishing champs, Vlad's Ulti will decimate anyone caught in it as Kalista can actually Rend out her spears to deal massive damage. I would recommend you to delay activating hemoplauge until Kalista has already got some spears in. Rating: 10 (God Tier)

2. What is Draven know for? High damaging auto attacks that can delete someone in a few hits, and GUESS WHAT? Vlad can make those nasty autos deal MORE DAMAGE! try not to "Kill Share" Draven because snowballing a draven is more important than snowballing yourself. Just set up kills for Draven and let it rain Freelo. Rating: 10 (RNGESUS Tier)

3. Caitlyn is a really good ADC at the moment, She has very long range auto attacks and very long ranged abilities. In this lane you should dish out extreme punishment by having yourself or Caitlyn constantly but taking turns punishing anyone who gets too close. For any Melee supports on the enemy side who uses Relic shield should always be punished Every. Single. Time. She has a escape so protecting her isn't a problem. Rating: 9 (Really Good Tier)

4. Probably one of the better synergy duo in my opinion. For god sakes, with Vlad boosting both of their damage output and Urgot decreasing the damage output coming from the Enemy ADC adds up to a hefty 27% damage difference! His high damage per second can be severely boosted by your ultimate, he has really strong defensive abilities that makes your job to protect him less difficult since he can get really tanky to survive anything. Rating: 8.5 (Good Tier)

5. Miss Fortune is in a really good spot right now, She chunks with her autos and abilities. Her teamfighting is outta-this-world good and it only gets better with your Ulti. Just Imagine both of you having landed a 5 man ulti. Rating: 8 (Good Tier)

6. Vayne is not too shabby, she struggles early game but if you can poke enough for her to farm safely, you can expect some hefty damage coming from Vayne later on in the game. Vayne is a hyper carry and you can basically make her a demi-god. Rating: 7.5 (OK Tier)

7. Jinx is also a Hyper Carry that can utilize your ult rather well, she has pretty good damage and you can set up a lot of kills for her to snowball out of control. Set up kills and take kills where it is due, let it naturally snowball the game. Let her farm and keep enemies off of her. Rating: 7.5 (OK Tier)

8. This lane is more of a poke lane, the two of you should be fine during laning phase because it is extremely hard to gank the two of you. once you wither your enemies down, utilize Ezreal's burst during your Ultimate so you can burst any ADC/Support down in an instance. Rating: 7.5 (OK Tier)

9. Quinn after her rework is pretty good, her passive makes for some AMAZING BURST. But if she falls behind it would be a real struggle. Just like Jinx or Vayne, keep enemies off of her and let her rack up her farm. But if your Quinn is good she is easily a god tier ADC Rating: 7.5 (OK Tier)

10. With the already increased 10%+Crit chance damage, slow, and CC coming from Ashe. she is awesome with Vlad. Since her Q gives massive increased AD on hit and Attack speed, her having unlimited slows can really catch someone out for good. however, unlike the top 4 ADCs, her escape is quite limited so you might want to keep her as safe as possible in lane. Rating: 7.5 (OK Tier)

11. (BTW does anyone still play him ADC?)By far the worst ADC for early game that only get better as the game goes, basically, you need to not feed till LV 6, then you guys will face roll your lane with both of you being invincible. He is quite over powered but since you don't have CC, Morde is so dead if he gets caught. And please don't disengage a trade with W, better to keep the HP and let Morde die than to W into the skirmish and possibly feed a double kill. However his ability to speed you up can help so much in trades, AND CAN I MENTION HIS DAMAGE??? If he ever gets on top of someone, The damage is sooo absurd. Rating: 6 (Meh Tier)

Guide Top

Roaming is very Important to Spread your influence across the map. I know this isn't the LCS, but a gank from the support isn't something everyone expects, especially from a bursty support.
Roaming not only help your mid, jungler or perhaps the Top laner get kills, but it helps control the map and objectives as well.

However only roam when your ADC is safe, mainly when the enemy ADC has backed to base and your ADC can handle being by himself. In other words if your ADC is ahead then it is Ok to roam.

Supports with high CC is better at ganks but Vladimir is good enough.

Support Games.

I want you to notice the c.s. difference between my ADC and their's. That is the Zoning power of Vlad.

Tough match up as Our Mordekaiser lacked range. We weren't able to capitalize our power spikes and only won off of a great teamfight at the end of the game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about Vlad Support.

#1. Why is Vladimir effective?

(Me)-> Well, Vlad can have bonus Stats from his passive so being behind in Items [which you never will do] will still have you on par with everyone. Later the game goes, the more damage you provide and the tankier you get.

#2. What do I build on Vladimir?

(Me)-> Oh, Sorc boots, Two full AP items, two Hybrid AP Items [Rylais or Liandry's and Hextech Protobelt] then spirit Visage as the cherry on top.

#3. When Should I pick Vlad Support.

(Me)-> Every time...All the time.

#4. Sometimes I wish you can have my children.

(Me)-> ( ͡° ͜ʖ͡°)

#5. Vlad support? No.

(Me)-> What? That wasn't even a question.
