Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Avoid this at all costs, he outdamages you and when you can outdamage him he is too tanky to deal with. Call for ganks and bait out his E. His E has CD of around 15 seconds so that's the time when you can farm
Volibear
This is annoying as **** because of his passive. Try to farm, call for ganks, repeat, you will shine in lategame
Kayle
Maybe I'm playing wrong vs Kayle due to lack of xp vs her, but I'm getting wrecked everytime. If you know what to do against her, leave a comment and I will update this
Gragas
Only chance get even/win lane is early game, where you outdamage him. If you won't kill him until first recall, you won't be able to do it 1v1 later.
Mordekaiser
Your damage does nothing to him, just farm
Renekton
Another farm lane. Only possibility to kill is when you have poked him down to half hp and somehow reach lvl6 faster. Otherwise do your best to farm, you give more than croc in teamfights
Riven
This is hard - if you start with farming and try to ignore her, you get smacked. If you try to start with engaging on her, you get smacked. There is a thin path between those you have to take. Note that if you both all-in lvl6 she will get the kill because her damage comes out faster then yours
Jayce
A good Jayce will poke you down with basic attack and kick you away when you will engage. Engage hard on him when his kick is down and ult him or decoy away
Trundle
Not a big threat, but not easy to kill. Try your best to poke him down and farming
Malphite
Hard case because of passive and after lvl6 he can jump away from your ult. Call for ganks pre 6
Fiora
Always max E because she parries your Q. If you manage to bait out her Parry you will win the lane. If she ults you near your turret flash under it and make her pay for it
Jax
Skill matchup. If he tries to stun you hit Decoy and run randomly away. After lvl6 in an even lane he can beat the living **** out of you if he has Cutlass
Cho'Gath
Juke his spikes, silence. poke him when you can and if you are healthier at lvl6 you can kill. Focus on farming though.
Garen
Don't bother to kill him, just kill him and poke down if you expect a gank.
Irelia
Easy lane, just be carefull when she hits lvl6 - she can burst you too fast for you to notice that you are in trouble
Jarvan IV
Don't allow him to poke you early and start to poke him after lvl3. Generally you are stronger then him
Kennen
He will poke you down. If you will try to jump on him he will get away with E. If you manage to surprise him from Decoy with full combo he is pretty much dead
Kha'Zix
You are stronger and can deny his trade damage with decoy. Farm, poke, kill, repeat
Lee Sin
Same as with Jax, just harder skill matchup. Hide behind your minions so he can't Q you. Poke him when he is close to your minions so you can get back to safe zone fast. Ulting him is a waste of time because he will kick you away
Gangplank
Simple lane. Wait for him to use Q on minions, then engage. Repeat until you can secure a kill
Gnar
Just watch his passive, don't go near when he is in Mega Gnar form. All the other time easy killable
Master Yi
Dodge Alpha Strike with your decoy, then engage. You shouldn't loose the lane
Nasus
Let him the first hit on minion so wave is pushing to your turret. Then everytime he is going to hit a minion hit him with AA+Q, sometimes followed by E. Poke him down like this until you can kill. If he stays under his turret, don't bother - outpush and roam around
Olaf
Dodge Q, poke him if he tries to pick it up. Hard side of this lane is fact that he can kill you if go for a kill when he isn't poked down enough. Better to farm
Pantheon
Max E because he will block your Q. Always make an AA before you Q him. Try to go aggressive or he will poke you down fast. Farming is also an option since you scale better. Say in chat when he is lvl6 and dissapears
Poppy
She outtrades early you so just farm
Rengar
Be careful early, don't go near to bushes. After lvl6 he can escape your ulti with his ulti. Annoying
Ryze
Don't let him harass you early. If he focuses on farming, poke him hard. With each level he gets stronger
Shen
He can't kill you, you can't kill him. Farming lane. If he ults away punish him with taking his turret
Shyvana
Skill matchup. If you won't dodge Q you will lose everytime. Otherwise winner of the lane is the one who gets less minion damage
Singed
Farm, poke, don't let him fling you and don't step in poison
Teemo
Survive until level 6 and then get fed
Tryndamere
You can kill him lvl2 all in if you start the engage. If you go for farm, be careful first two levels, after that just play your game and don't push the lane
Vladimir
He will escape your ulti with his W so if you bait that out it's an easy kill. If not it's pretty even lane
Hi, my name is WhatIsThisLOL and I am currently a Platinum V player, where I got myself into mostly playing with Wukong with this build. I have got 17/4 with monkey even in Platinum so I'm not sure until which division this build has ability to carry. In ranked play I have around 300 games with The Monkeyking in Season 4 and more or less the same amount in Season 3 in every role except ADC so I know him inside-out. The reason behind why I am making this guide is to show other players how to use Wukong more efficiently.
Here you can see my stats for Wukong in season 4 and note that this is counting around 20 games where I played as support - low CS and no kills. When I climbed from Silver to Platinum my winrate was around 75-80%.
Runes
Runes
Extra Attack Damage allows you to bully your laning oponent and is crucial for you in teamfights since you will be the guy who shuts down enemy carries.
You can switch Mana Regen glyphs for Magic Resist if you don't feel lack of mana in Wukong.
Crystalline Flask gives you the needed sustain. Tiamat is a great choice for Wukong because of it's passive cleave and active crescent which allows you to shove lanes superfast combined with your Nimbus Strike. Last Whisper gives you needed amount of Armor Penetration. I choose this as a second item over Black Cleaver because Last Whisper works better in early skirmishes and there just isn't that much of a 4v4 and 5v5 teamfighting at this moment of game. Black Cleaver finishes your AD damage core and even though it's doesn't give the biggest AD out there it's passive reduces enemy armor for 25% when you do damage to them for at least 2-3 seconds and for Wukong who is an AoE beast it is a must have item. Randuin's Omen is your best savior when you will be jumping on that poor enemy ADC because his Attack Speed will be reduced. Guardian Angel is what I prefer because it revives me and allows me to clean up any enemy survivors or to go and shove some lanes
When hitting turret near enemy minions use Nimbus Strike onto them to get attack speed buff
You can Nimbus Strike over thin walls, so if you know enemy is on the other side of wall you can place ward and Nimbus Strike to them.
With Ravenous Hydra you can do this amazing trick - use Ravenous Hydra active standing close to wall that separates you from Blue Buff or Wight and when that gives you a vision of them dash to them with Nimbus Strike.
Use it here:
Early game
Early game
Here you focus on farming to get Ravenous Hydra as soon as possible. Whenever enemy goes for minion hit him with AA + Crushing Blow. If you want to poke him down use Nimbus Strike + AA + Crushing Blow and Warrior Trickster out. If you can get a kill, go for it, but it is better to wait for your jungler to come. He needs money as well.
Mid game
Mid game
Once you get Ravenous Hydra put enemy under kill pressure or make him recall, then take his turret. If you can't make him recall, just shove the lane and help your midlaner. After you get the first turret you should be able to buy Last Whisper. With this item on your hand you have to bully your enemy laner and shove him under his inner turret, after that go and help other lanes trying to catch enemy into 2v2 and 3v3 fights or help taking objectives. Keep roaming between your lane and midlane until you can buy Black Cleaver and start your Randuin's Omen. Whenever enemy toplaner is helping other lanes or just isn't in a lane, punish him by taking massive amount of damage to the next turret.
Late game
Late game
This is the 5v5 teamfight time and it is simple for you because you are an anti-carry. Most of the time you don't want to initiate the fight, but if you can catch someone out of position, jump on them and punish. All the other time your job is to Warrior Trickster in to the fight, then Nimbus Strike + Crushing Blow + Cyclone enemy carry and when he is dead Flash to the nearest target. After Cyclone ends, pop your Warrior Trickster and reposition yourself depending on situation. You can also splitpush and surprise enemy backline Warrior Trickster to them from backside.
Spells
Spells
is a must have to reposition yourself in teamfights while doing Cyclone is a must have to secure a kill in a laning phase or to be sure you finish off enemy ADC is viable, but you won't get needed kill pressure in laning phase and you will no get enough respect from enemy
That's my time
That's my time
This is it and I hope you like it. If you have any question (why no Trinity Force or anything) feel free to ask in comment sections. I hope my build helps you and we will see more monkeys in the Summoner's Rift.
P.S. If you see any mistakes or have any suggestions on what's missing, comment and I will update.
P.S.2 Champ match-ups might change with the time and my experience with some champs (like Poppy because I have faced her only once).
