vavena is a perfect example of this:
Just because she began realising her mistakes and got some help from more skilled players she skyrocketed through the elo-brackets. From 900(?) to 2000(?) in less than a season.
Whereas i, have more games than her but i'm still at a sobbing 1600. This is firstly due to me being a dumbass ragekid unwilling to reckognise my own mistakes and because of the fact that the only guy who ever tried to teach me anything about this game is a guy who has been playing since beta who sucks beyond everything. I believe he's like 1200 and refuses to listen when i try to teach him something.

I played games competitively before league and came into league intending to join the competitive scene by getting better the same way you get better in every game... which is learning from the best, being humble, and just playing a lot. Started midway through S2, got on a semi-pro team and peaked at 1800~ elo, but I don't think i'm a great player at all and I intend to keep improving the same way.

S3: Game 8 VICTORYBANS: ![]() This game was a complete and utter stomp; killed the nexus before the 20 minute mark. But it was only a stomp because Max was playing Olaf. Bot lane Ashe was bad. Incredibly bad for a first pick 1500 elo player. I mean, it's not like she fed or anything, but she was not very good. I played well as a support this game and warded a lot in addition to saving Ashe's *** a couple of times. But as I said, stomp game. Not much to report; you don't learn anything from games like this besides letting your guard down and thinking all subsequent games will "be this easy". Shouldn't have requeued :/ |

S3: Game 9 DEFEATBANS: Not ![]() This game started so well. We invaded their jungle with our superior CC and even though Eve is slippery and I couldn't stun her in the brush, we managed to kill her under mid turret for First Blood. ![]() Things that went wrong: 1) Ryze mid was countering Eve so hard, she just roamed. 2) I didn't pink ward. Three times. Three times she and/or Vayne got double kills bot lane. 3) Lee Sin wasn't as good as he should have been, over-estimating his damage output and survivability. 4) Riven had poor focus. Mainly though, it was COMPLETELY and UTTERLY my fault. I still cringe when I think about it. To think that we were denying Vayne SO HARD. She was literally 30+ CS below Draven before level 4. Then as soon as Eve hit 6, she came bot lane and killed both of us, with Vayne only dying. It was a turning point for them, as they then abused my ****ty warding - it's been SO LONG since I've faced stealth that I didn't pink ward. I tend to pink ward when I know there's a ward I can destroy/enemy support is warding the **** out of our lane. But this Nunu wasn't warding much AND buying AP items so I didn't pink ward because I wanted to save money. I'm a bad support and I feel bad for this game. I was so upset, I didn't even screen shot. |

Also, I agree completely. To be a high level player, you need experience, you just can't get to that level without it, but to be a good player, I think it's possible for someone smart, and that understands the game to get there. Sometimes you just have to take a stun to the face because you didn't know the character had it, learn real quick, and try and improve.
