After seeing the recent Korean hybrid build for kennen, whilst I have spent a week or so away from my desktop I was thinking of more alternative builds for champions and I THINK hybrid Kog is finally viable with the changes to Nashors tooth and the buff to blade of the ruined king a few patches ago.

core:
zerker boots
botrk
Nashors tooth

ideas for optionals:
ryalais (slow applies on W autos)
deathcap
lichbane
zhonyas
roa
GA
hextech gblade
tri force
statikk shiv

lemme know how viable you think it is, I know alot of people will throw his escapes down but the pick of Kog always depends in their front line, this build will shred through a protective front line such as naut or mundo or shen but will get shat on by heca or noct

The slow from Rylai's Crystal Scepter does NOT apply on every hit on W. The build needs a lot of work but AP/AS Kog'Maw could be a thing with the new Nashor's Tooth. Forget about Trinity Force, Blade of the Ruined King. Statikk Shiv, Hextech Gunblade and Berserker's Greaves. Go full AP with a Nashor's Tooth, use autoattacks with Bio-Arcane Barrage when your Living Artillery's mana stacks are getting too heavy. Kog'Maw isn't a CC machine like Kennen, he needs to do damage and building stuff like Rabadon's Deathcap and Blade of the Ruined King in the same build is never really a good idea for your damage.

are you sure it doesn't slow on every hit? my bad. botrk seems like a core item to me for the attack speed and more % shred, might not scale his spells but the bonus to his shred amounts would reach higher with botrk than with another ap item in kogs case it's very much a different thing isn't it?

my reasoning being is that to reach the same % dmg (at max hp cos botrk is current hp) you would need an item to supply 500ap aswell as the active being invaluable for sustain/escape, there is no other item I would like to replace it with

The problem is, botrk does physical damage, the rest magic. If you build no armor penetration, it is nearly worthless. (you deal against the targets you want to hit like 1/3 of the damage)

Nashor's Tooth is definilty not the first item, as you need AP first to make it work. I would go Tear of the Goddess, Rabadon's Deathcap, Sorcerer's Shoes, Seraph's Embrace, Lich Bane(you can proc it easily with ult), Nashor's Tooth, Liandry's Torment(doesn't proc on AA but on your ultimate).
There is a reason (froggen), why AP Kog was banned before they increased the mana costs of his ultimate. Now with Nashor's Tooth, he seems stronger again.
He is gonna kill you!!!

Well my team got destroyed in the last mobafire tournament by a team with an AP Kog. I think he rushed Tear of the Goddess into Sorcerer's Shoes, Nashor's Tooth, Rabadon's Deathcap and Wit's End. He also had a Doran's Blade in laning phase, but I'm not sure if he started with it or bought it on his first back. The build seems pretty solid, though I might consider replacing Wit's with something like Zhonya's Hourglass or Void Staff.
Thanks to Lugignaf for the sig!

tested the build out with hybrid pen marks and it worked beautifully with botrk, nashors and deathcap, didn't get to test more items but it really is my favourite Kog build so far

I've had lots of fun just running him basic ADC, botrk and runaans being my cores along with zerkers. main problem with apaspd imho is that spellvamp doesn't apply to on-hit effects. now i'm not sure if thats only item-relevant on-hits like wits and nashors, or if its abilities too, kog does allow you to build squishy and hang back and just destroy their frontline while your assassins take out their carries, but the lifesteal on botrk coupled with runaans has kept me up trough some pretty crazy dives, and i'm not sure it would be good not to have that... i'd still build botrk and runaans on an aspd-on-hit build, but i think i'd get a wits end instead of the nashors, and then a frozen mallet and a GA to round it out.
If you want the Nashors to be the core i'd add a wits end for the mr-shred, and maybe a liandrys for even more flat pen and %-dmg, or void staff for the %-pen.
Nashors and liandy's might actually make a really good core for that kind of build...
well good luck at least, and sorry for the necro
