Ive heard her skills are mostly ap, but they build her dps.

Anyone know why?

Skarner has AP skills yet he is majorly used as DPS. Maybe same strategy. I think Shyvana will be AP viable but it wont be major in AP rather than in DPS(possibly tank).

i like wits end and rageblade on her. might through a gunblade in there too.


also her ult technically does have a cooldown.

you have to wait for rage to charge and it only does that at a slow rate, which is 90 seconds.


also i got the best ks with her and i show up out of nowhere and ult for the ks. totally awesome.

She has one AP skill.
They all have pretty bad ratios IMO.
Q rests the AA timer.
As soon as you hit six and put a point in the ult, you can use it as it gives 100 fury right when you put the point in.

And you gain fury with autoattack, so with huge minions waves you can get ultimate up in matter of seconds.

My experiences so far;

You will want mpen Marks, armor Seals, MR/level Glyphs, and arpen Quints. This covers her bases for being too squishy as well as penetrating defenses as she does a very heavy mix of physical AND magic damage. Attack speed is not as necessary because items will make up the difference.

Item builds I've used so far were; Mercury's Treads, Triforce (or Frozen Mallet), Wit's End, then building a mix of Sunfire Cape, Phantom Dancer, Force of Nature, Banshee's Veil, Black Cleaver, Bloodthirster and even Malady. When testing jungling I went for Wriggle's Lantern.

Summoner spells I like the best are Ghost and Exhaust. You might use Flash or Smite instead for jungling or better mobility, I prefer Ghost for champions like this. Ghost AND Flash might be optimal on her as well depending on your team comp and if laning or not. I have not tried jungling on her when using Exhaust instead of Smite but I feel that she can jungle adequately without Smite.

Her mobility is pretty great, not the best but very solid, and her damage and AoE is really gross. I can not confirm it but Triforce appeared to work on every enemy hit by her Q when using her Ult. Damage in team fights was very explosive.

Minor gripes; it may be my bad reflexes but after using her ult I've noticed the cone from her E is continually facing the wrong direction or slightly glitchy, maybe a delay, I am not sure. Anyone experienced similar problems? Reminds me of Kassadin.

Well, IMO Shyvana is a jungler and DPS, therefore she should get Wriggle's Lantern.
Secondly, she needs to be tanky - As her scaling sucks, most of her damage comes from staying in the fight - So Warmog's Armor would be good.
She also needs attackspeed to regenerate her fury faster - Combining this with tankiness, you get a Wit's End.
If you have a Warmog's Armor on an AD character, you might aswell get Atma's Impaler, making her tankier, and also improving her damage.
Of course, you'd have boots thrown in somewhere, probably Mercury's Treads for CC reduction.
As for the final item, it'd have to be situational, since I have no clue.

As for runes, I think Greater Seal of Armor would be neccesary for jungling. Glyphs would probably be Greater Glyph of Magic Resist for extra tankiness, or maybe Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction for increased DPS I guess.
Marks would probably be Greater Mark of Attack Damage, as I believe most of her skills deal magic damage but scale off AD. Alternatively, she could get greater mark of desolation.
Quints.. Probably the same as marks.

situational, sunfire is a good option though because build has no health or armor. plus that damage goes well with her w.

thats what i like to build anyway. as for runes/masteries you guys got it down.

Movespeed bonus: 30/35/40/45/50%


Flame Breath

(Active): Shyvana unleashes a fireball that deals magic damage and melts the target's Armor for 4 seconds.
Dragon Form: Flame Breath engulfs all units in a cone in front of Shyvana.

Magic damage: 80/125/170/215/260 (+0.6 ability power)
Cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8


Dragon's Descent

(Active): Shyvana transforms into a dragon and takes flight to a target location. Enemies along her path take magic damage and are knocked toward her target location.

Drains 6 fury/second.
Changes back when fury runs out.

(Passive): Shyvana reinforces her scales, increasing her Armor and Magic Resist. Defensive bonuses are doubled in Dragon Form.

Magic damage: 200/300/400 (+0.7 ability power)
Armor/Magic Resist bonus: 15/20/25

What about Twin Bite´s dmg? Does the second attack plainly count as normal autohit on rank 5? If thats the case I would try her even on AD/Tanky.
Reducing(?) enemy groups armor using Flame Breath and cleaving 2-3 champs with 2 x 700-800 crit dmg.
Also: Normally those spells would function with spell vamp, but since autohits are the dmg source, is life steal applied to the cleave?
