Jungle GP is back tho, AoE clear speed with the powder kegs plus Spirit of the Elder Lizard which synergises heavily with his passive. Still, lackluster cc tho will make him unviable. And Support GP is dead as well this patch because of slow stacking removed, together with the rework which makes him rather useless in that role.
Feels like in total he will be in every role unviable. Unless buffed to borderline OPness, of course.

His passive got a slight rework. It looks like a slightly better version of Shen's Ki Strike. His Parrrley remains unchanged (apart from the Silver Serpent thingy) and so is Remove Scurvy (" Malzahar ulted me, but then I ate some oranges and it was k), his E is a complete new thing, wonder how much bait potential it'll have. Finally, his Cannon Barrage remains unchanged, apart from the fact you can now upgrade it (really good updates).
My guess is that his Parrrley will give his Silver Serpent stacks and you'll need like 50 to progress each level, but it's just a wild guess. I bought Gangplank last week and I am absolutely loving him, so I want to see how this rework will impact his gameplay.
In my opinion, with this update he'll become a stronger Top Laner, but that is about it. Also, since he now has another AoE spell, his teamfight ability got kicked up a notch.
On a side note, his new Splash Art is absolutelty badass! Peeling that juicy orange, hmmm! And that hot blade!

Keg explosions also count for the plunder. His Ultimate now has a 0.15 AP ratio, while his W still has 100% plus the missing health effect, but the base heal is nerfed. Don't know how the Ultimate AP ratios are if upgraded tho. Basically, AP GP is still alive and even stronger in lane as he can now even trade in melee range more efficiently. Do also note that 12 shots per 8 is more than 7 per 7 currently, so actually, the ultimate deals even more damage as AP GP.
I wonder how that Powder Keg interacts with Runeglaive :D. As I read it it should take the magic damage of the attack, turn it into physical damage and then apply the damage with 60% armor reduction, perfect for AP GP. Also don't forget it should proc spell effects.

Yeah, I noticed the shackles and someone's hands. You're looking at him from the prisoner's PoV. He's probably going to cut you up and squeeze that orange on the wound... nasty.

I tested a jungle GP build that seems to be very successfull, even while I sucked farming with Keg's or utilizing them in general.
Skirmisher's Sabre - Warrior, Boots of Swiftness/ Mercury's Treads, Ravenous Hydra, Randuin's Omen / (Black Market) Dead Man’s Plate, Spirit Visage, Frozen Heart. Good mix of offense and defense as well as sustain. Especially the burning power is really strong.
