I really adore the formatting and coding for this guide, and that's just to say the least, the visuals are completely perfect, Jovy did an amazing work with them. ^^ I remember when you were still working with this guide (when it had only a few bbcode and barely any visuals), for it to turn into this beauty is very deserving of the Fabulous award. You've also made it both in English and what I would assume is Portuguese, really good!

Congratulations on winning the contest, your guide is great and will only improve from here! :)

Thanks Fruxo, It's been a looooong time since then, I still remember when you were a young padawan, and look at you now! In such a short time you became member of Mobafire's admin staff!

Thanks again, and thanks to the whole Mobafire community for making this guide a success!

Hey there,

I was roaming around the site and I came across your guide. Didn't expect to find something like this... You got some amazing tables here ^^ The table of contents and skill sequence are definitely my favs.

Anyway, I got a few questions/comments after reading your guide:
  • Why do you take Zombie Ward on an adc? The two other options give the same amount of adaptive damage and you are not likely to kill wards as an adc (esp. compared to placing em and killing people...).
  • There's a typo in your Coup de Grace description (agains; in the last sentence)
  • Why wouldn't the attack speed shard help "in this build"? I thought Jhin overall makes better use of ad compared to attack speed so does the build have anything to do with that?
  • Why do you take the health shard over the armor shard?
  • At Dancing Grenade description you start with "If you're already good at landing Miss Fortune's Double Up, then you'll have the same difficulty as a new player" hum, what do you mean with this sentence?
  • At the items section: "Wtf is this build?" I'm extremely used to seeing crit on Jhin and I'm surprised that you don't explain why you think lethality is better than crit. Why do you prefer lethality over crit?
  • Why are you talking about Phage at Boots? xD
  • Berserker's Greaves only gives movement speed after autoattacking or rooting someone with Deadly Flourish. Not sure how that helps with engaging considering you already engaged when you using either of those.
  • Give me a very good reason why I should take Mobility Boots over any other boots that give in-combat benefits.
  • When do you take Death's Dance? Obviously if you want lifesteal Bloodthirster is a better choice.
  • If you have both Youmuu's Ghostblade and Infinity Edge, which of the two would you rather (Ornn) upgrade ?
  • What are your thoughts on Essence Reaver?
  • Typo in Skirmishes Phase (Skirmish Phase would be more in line with the rest tho): "mizerable death" (should be miserable)
  • Also lots of random indents in your phases chapter, having a line break between the paragraphs is enough
  • In your gauntlet chapter: What is a "ganker"?

Well that's it! Also props to making the guide in two languages ^_^

Geez, thanks for spotting that many errors, it's people like you which are the most valuable to guide writers!

So, about your topics, I'll try to answer them by order:
  • Zombie Ward is kinda easier to stack early game, as long as you keep atention on where enemy is warding so you can negate it.
  • Yeah, some typos are just overlooked when reviewing the guide, I'll fix this one, thanks!
  • While the attack speed shard might be good for jhin, that raw AD makes trading a lot easier while the enemy will have to be more cautious when going to kill a minion, so you're able to negate CS more effectively too.
  • The health shard helps you to survive otherwise lost trades, and this little bit of health can save you from Ignite sometimes.
  • Well, that was my attempt on doing a joke, I meant something like "don't think that just because you can hit everytime your Double Up that you're going to have easy time learning Dancing Grenade".
  • Sorry for not explaining the reason for this build, I'll add more content to that part soon.
  • Now THIS is a weird mistake, must've happened when I was removing some items from the list XD. Thanks for spotting it!
  • Oh, Berserker's Greaves is a wonderful item that makes almost impossible to hit Jhin with skillshots during trades, although it doesn't give you fixed movement speed at all times it does give you enough combat mobility, turning it into a must have against skillshot-reliant matchup.
  • The Mobility Boots is a very strategy-specific boots, it's supposed to give you enough speed to reach other lanes during earlier phases without giving your enemy enough time to advance the wave enough to hit your tower. Consider it a roaming boots.
  • Death's Dance heals you on Captive Audience damage, and ensures that you don't insta-die to assassins. You could take Bloodthirster of course, but I find DD's passive a little better agains't burst comps.
  • Hum, this one really depends on the enemy team. Youmuu's Wraithblade gives you more lethality, allowing more one-shots against squishies (also giving you more mobility), while Molten Edge gives more raw AD. The later might be a better choice if you're undecided.
  • Essence Reaver is a great item, but I find it to be a bit underwhelming on Jhin since you rarely need that CDR, but that bit more AD from an extra Infinity Edge can surely become a great advantage given Jhin's passive. I recommend to take Essence Reaver if you're running the Arcane Comet runepage for faster pokes.
  • Sorry again, sometimes I confuse S with Z in some least used words.
  • Thanks for the formatting tip, you're the first one to actually give your opinion on it!
  • The one which ganks. I'm open for better terms.

Anyway, MUCH thanks for this comment, you've helped me a lot in enhancing this guide!

Hi again,

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm still a bit confused by the "ganker" term tho, "the one who ganks" is that your roaming mid/jungle/top? Orr is it the enemy mid/jungle/top? Is it just jungle? Is it everything that's not in botlane? Or can it even be the enemy support roaming to his own lane? (yes, roaming to your own lane is a thing...)

Thanks for this guide, I'm learning how to play Jhin. One question I have is: Is it still viable to go electrocute or dark harvest? What other keystones would also work for Jhin right now?
2
KuuHaKu_OtgmZ (55) | November 5, 2019 5:11am
Thanks for asking!

Depends on how adapted to Jhin you are:
  • If you are quite new to Jhin then I recomend using Fleet Footwork since it's overall easier to trade and guarantees a bit of sustain in lane;
  • If you are quite good at hitting skillshots then Arcane Comet can help a lot to outtrade the enemy, but you'll fall off a bit on late game since you'll rely on lethality;
  • If you are used to dodge enemy skills then Electrocute will give you lots of burst damage since Jhin can easily activate it using the poke combo #1 (AA > Q > AA). On the other side, with Dark Harvest you'll a lot of explosive damage, being able to cause massive damage if you stack it enough, but you'll have less trade potential early game than by using Electrocute.

I absolutely love the formatting and design choices for this guide! Very cool color scheme playing off the Project skin, and not too hard to read. I was wondering, how did you BBCode the colored border around your embedded videos? I've been looking to do that myself but can't get it right.

KuuHaKu_OtgmZ (55) | July 9, 2019 11:50am
Oh, much thanks for your kind words!

The borders around the videos are made by nesting the video inside a table and adding a border color to it, something like this:

Sure, although I rarely do it due to not having enough time to buy one, it's still an absolute power spike at lategame. If you ever reach 40~ min, do not hesitate to get one since it'll surely mark the "checkmate" of the match!

Note: ONLY buy it once you have AT LEAST 400 AD, else it'll not be as good as it could be.

IS IT GOOD THAT I USE JHIN AS MID LANER?THE 50% CRIT CHANCE IN YOUR GUIDE IS GOOD ENOUGH IF I HAD A LETHALITY ITEMS RIGHT?
1
KuuHaKu_OtgmZ (55) | March 19, 2019 8:19pm
Sure, why not? However I'd recommend you to master combo'ing with Jhin, since you'll rely lot more on bursting than on botlane due to the nature of midlane.

Anyway, this build has been tested on all roles except support (else I'd steal a lot of kills), so feel free to use it anywhere AS LONG AS YOU ADAPT TO THE SITUATION!

thanks for the advise

Keynx (13) | February 26, 2019 10:31am
Hey your example build has a 50% crit chance. Don't you think another crit item would be better than a lethality item like duskblade?
2
KuuHaKu_OtgmZ (55) | February 26, 2019 11:10am
I used to make 100% critical Jhin, but after some research on his DPS I found out that the fastest way to snowball Jhin is by nullifying enemy's trade opportunity. By making a lethality-based build you shatter almost all the AD mitigation the enemy ADC has, giving you WAY more control of the lane earlier.

However, if you find yourself against tank-based comps it's wise to go for big-crit builds. In this case I buy Infinity Edge because it removes Jhin's passive disadvantage.

Imo, Infinity Edge should be a core item for Jhin regardless. Like you said, it completely ignores the "my crits deal less damage" part of Jhin's passive and turns it into "my crits deal more damage". Jhin can only attack 4 times before he has to reload, so every shot should deal as much damage as possible.

great thanks for the reply. I'm used to making 3 crit items, 1 lethality and then a Guardian Angel. I guess I will try 2 crit items and 2 lethality items. Guardians angel just seems a bit too necessary on Jhin if the enemy team has any assasin.

A great Jhin guide with nice design and coding, +1

Like a lot the pros / cons
Nice to have a short skin review, quite rare within guides in general
Great synergies section (with sweet Teemo ^^) but seems early in the guide, I would more see it after you explain Jhin runes / weapons / playstyle
Great runes section design, impressive coding effort
Last part of "Whisper" explanations seems to have a break around ..." at the cost of being
unable to gain attack" ...
Interesting trap map
Wonderful combos details with great coding again
Phases chapter is very useful with nice design
I can't judge but it is impressive you made a complete translation of the guide, it is almost like a second guide ... I am sure many people who don't read english must appreciate

Overall a very nice guide to read with some nice humor here and there, well done. I know where to look next time I feel to play jhin :)

KuuHaKu_OtgmZ (55) | January 17, 2019 4:23pm
Thanks for the review, I'll move the synergies down.
And I didn't noticed that there was a break there, thanks!

As always, comments like this are the ones that I love most, much thanks for reading it!

Heya, you requested a discussion starter here.

I like the humour sprinkled throughout the guide, thanks for the entertainment :)

Synergies section looks nice but is kinda redundant/unnecessary as you have the same information in the cheat sheet. Not a fan of double info. Maybe if you instead talk about how to make it work, like, "When Braum lands Winter's Bite, auto-attack the enemy to get max stacks of Concussive Blows, which will stun them. Meanwhile, place a Captive Audience in the direction they're reatreating in. etc etc"

Woah, cool that the [runes] code works!!!!! :O

Way too much random colours in the ability/skills section. Also, why bother copy/pasting the skill description? You should rewrite it in your own words and explain it. There's no point in doing what you did.

The videos/gifs seem to be broken?

Don't get the spoilers in the item section.

Thanks for the shoutout at the end :)

I really like how you broke down the gameplay sections and provided some really valuable information about laning. I think you could expand upon this section more as to information on how to work with allies. +1

Give me 4 good reasons as to why I should play Jhin instead of Ashe :D

Cheers, jhoi

Woah, much thanks for the detailed review, I'll make sure to implement the stuff you said. This was my first guide, so I was a bit confused when I wrote it, I love to get people's opinion on it as it's what makes great guides.
About the color on the skills' description, it was supposed to be color coding for attributes' scales, but if it's too colorful I can remove it.
Thanks for everything!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it, I know it is a bit different from normal Jhin build, but it certainly works (in some cases better than the meta).
