I really hope the Americans don't get too hyped up about this...

In North America, you'll see a lot less because the US government doesn't allow reporters onto war areas anymore, only allowing minimal coverage in media. It's really dictatorship-ish when you think about it.
They don't want to go through the humiliation of Vietnam again, but don't want to humanize their tactics either.

I didn't say it wasn't a big deal. I had to explain to my sister why it was a big deal (umm...he was, for the most part, in control of the terrorist attacks...duh). But still, there are much better things the president could be doing with his time than explaining to us what we already know. Unless of course you haven't been paying attention at all the last 12 years.

I don't think it's a complete waste of time for Obama to give a speech on the matter. I, for one, don't quite know what direction this will lead in - will the remainder of the troops be pulled out of the Middle East? Will Al Qaeda possibly launch another attack? What's to be expected of this? If Obama can answer these questions then I'm sure the speech will be far from a waste.
