I'd still build Frozen Heart and Abyssal even if pre-nerf sunfires still stacked :).

Mordekaiser also gets nothing from health, so Kage's Lucky Picks would be a better choice :s.

Whatever though, i know that was directed in general at high base damage tanks, not at mordekaiser.

Sunfire and Frozen Heart aren't even comparable.

160g more for 54 more armor, and 20% CDR.

I agree that BV < FoN, but i almost always build a FoN, and i don't like getting a second one.

You have to learn to counter your enemy.
The follow are how I counter enemies if I'm playing a squishy caster/carry.

Right-clickers like Tryndamere, Yi, or Ashe?
Thornmail

AD ability users like Urgot?
Guardian Angel

Nukers?
Banshee's Veil

Sustained Magic damage dealers?
Force of Nature

If I am building as a tank, I usually have some of these already. So I just shift around the majority of my items for what I need.
A usual staple item I purchase is Aegis of the Legion

I agree on Thornmail and GA, but regarding Banshee and FoN I can't say that I agree. BV gives HP and the "shield" blocks more damage on squishy champions than it would on tanky ones, thus making BV an item best suited for squishy champions. FoN is generally the superior tank item.

450HP = 1160gold
54armor = 840gold

Even without the damage aura on Sunfire it gives more stats for the money.

While I agree that HP is less useful than resistances, a little HP is not something bad. With Randuin as your only source of HP you'll only have 2161HP. That's not much.
With Sunfire you'll have 2611HP. That is more reasonable on an offtank.

Sunfire simply gives more things that are useful.

Like i said.

It's not comparable, because Health's scaling is SO poor compared to armor/mr, also what is a 25% increase in shield generation worth?

Cause personally, i would buy Frozen Heart for 3770g if it still had 99 armor and 20% CDR.

Sunfire is way better for other tanks, but it's a bad item on mordekaiser, I'd rather get Zhonya's.

Morde doesnt have any natural CC... so Randuin's Omen in my opinion is a must for him if you are even thinking about being a semi viable tank option.

I run

Sorcerer's Shoes
Force of Nature
Randuin's Omen
Hextech Revolver (upgrade later)
Rabadon's Deathcap
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Hextech Gunblade

I have even ran 3x Hextech Gunblades before. Was fun.
