I'm thinking...

Ionian Boots of Lucidity, catalyst the protector, kage's lucky pick, Rod of Ages, Rabadon's Deathcap, Deathfire Grasp, Void Staff, Zhonya's Hourglass

When his ult is down, he's stuck waiting on his Q, which kind of sucks. A lot like Lux.
Having an extra spell to throw around is nice, I think.

Otherwise, I'd replace DFG with Rylai's Crystal Scepter or a defensive item like Force of Nature

What do you think would be more worth it Searz, tear or Catalyst?

Tear- Won't ever have mana trouble again. Late game gives a huge AP boost with AA upgrade. Slightly cheaper. But no health. (his W charges tear in case anyone wondered)

Catalyst - Useful passive for laning. More durable. Builds into a great caster item, but is less powerful.

What? Tear is ****. He's not that mana heavy.

ROA, always ROA. ( Rod of Ages)

For anyone who doesn't know.

'Locus of Power' grants you an extra 30% magic penetration - So Sorcerer's Shoes, Abyssal Mask, and Haunting Guise as well as magic-pen runes will be subpar on Xerath.

Better to stack up the AP and use [{Void Staff]] as your 5th/6th item.

Archaic Knowledge + Void Staff + 'Locus of Power' means at least 60% of any given enemy's magic resist is totally ignored!

Why would you build DFG on a character that isn't burst oriented, and should never be in range?

Just buy Morello's.

I would build him like this replacing the Morello's with a Will if i could reliably get blue buff.

Why would Specter be bad?

Only item in the game that gives him MR AND Armor (besides GA and Aegis) and although 12 armor isn't great, it's not bad for the second highest MR item in the game.

Also, why RoA? I don't think he's THAT mana hungry, is he? Especially with Blue Buff?

(idk his mana costs, but if i'm basing them on Kog (no clue if that's right or not) then he shouldn't be to bad)

I know it gives you good hp too, but I just think Rylai's would always be a stronger pick, wouldn't it?

I mean, you can always just turn an early cata into BV.

Meh, my favorite character in game is Karthus. Tear is incredible on him. Thank you for answering the question though, I will stick to RoA for Xerath.

So attempt to build something like RoA, Death Cap, Void Staff, Rylai, Zhonya, Lucidity Boots.

With possibly switching something for a banshee veil if you got some mage bursting you that you can't stay safe from.

Oh, maybe Lich Bane would be nice on him.

He's a champion who needs to stack AP (more so then your average ap nuke), who has a passive to supply armor already.

Only major weak points is his magic resist and combat strength while Arcane Barrage is down.

Having LB as a 6th item might be good.
Arcano pulse has a really low cooldown, and you're likely to have 500+ AP end-game, which would make Lich Bane procs hit like brick when you don't have anything else to do during Pulse's 3 second cooldown.

When the **** has Abyssal ever given armor?

You don't need to be mana-hungry to warrant purchasing a little mana.
Especially when it comes in the form of a high lane sustainability item like Catalyst the protector

And Rod of Ages has an stat-growth to give you more health then normal items and equal value AP to most items - Which is really nice.

With his passive Abyssal grants 10.5 armor. With a death cap it is 13.7

Abyssal is bad because the aura is not only greatly devalued, but also useless because of it's short range.

Rylai's would be good aswell, it's opinion i feel, RoA is super strong in lane when you won't need BV for the health.
