A good start would be knowing what the item does. If you're looking for Infinity Edge halfway through the game, consider what it is you're buying. Attack Damage, Critical Strike. You're not going to find this in the health section of the shop, are you?
I don't think such a list exists, as most people learn as they play what each item does.

I mean it's not old dota where you had to solve rebus to get the right items since there were a ***ton shops.
If you know what the item does you go to the category and bam.
If you don't know what the item does finding them is the least thing I wold be worrying about

A better idea is to learn what items build into what. Most of the time you can navigate your items based upon the recommended items for the champion you're using.
Example: Nasus's recommended items are:
Doran's Shield
Ninja Tabi
Chalice of Harmony
Aegis of the Legion
Trinity Force
Guardian Angel
Say you want to get a
Force of Nature. You would click on
Trinity Force, then in its "requires" submenu you click on
Sheen and then on the "builds" submenu click on
Lich Bane. After that click on
Blasting Wand on the "required" submenu, go to Abysall Scepter in the "builds" submenu and click on
Negatron Cloak. You then click the
Force of Nature on the "builds" submenu and you're there.
(Note, this is one of the lengthiest processes done, usually a one or two step process will get you to the item you need/want).
I find doing this way simpler than clicking trying to find the specific item amongst a list of other items. There are some items that are less intuitive because they don't appear in the "builds" submenu for one of its required items (
Ninja Tabi won't appear for
Boots and
Warmog's Armor won't appear for
Ruby Crystal are the most commmon).
Example: Nasus's recommended items are:

If you learn which parts are needed to build the desired tier 2/tier 3 item, most of the time you could easily use the recommendation to get what you want without clicking 2-3 times only to see that itemwall.
Edit: failed. BlackAngel already mentioned it xP

This isn't really needed, in some ways I would find myself being slower looking at that, you just have to learn the quickest ways to getting to things.
