Threats & Synergies
Consider taking 2 points in E for the AS slow instead of Q, once iceborn + tabis are done he isn't allowed to play the game
take a CS loss early, but if you can play safe until iceborn + tabi then you win the all in.
Smart use of TP and playing safe until you have armor will make him fall off harder than leesin
Bullies you early, but that is every matchup. consider an early bramble vest to cut his healing. he can't out-kite your iceborn + Q slow.
high threat due to his impact late game. you can cheese him lvl 9, but he becomes unkillable late.
Mastery 7 emote when you hit lvl 6 and 1shot her.
bami's counters his tiamat rush, setting up EZ ganks for your jungler
as long as she doesn't parry your ult, you're golden
Q when she goes in, then use the movement speed stolen to trade back after her CD's are burned
watch out for early damage, but if he doesn't snowball you then you win
beats you in 1v1 with his shield up, but you can force him to stay in lane with your pushing power. punish every time he uses ult
you can max Q and look to poke when his W shield is down. if he catches you with his E, you're almost guaranteed dead early.
Abuse his weak early, you trade will with W + Grasp, then look to burn his pool and all in at 6.
he gets free auto on you, but you out DMG him with iceborn at lvl 6+ (consider mercs in this matchup)
Q him when he goes into trade, and then run him down when he burns his CD's
rush adaptive and max q first, then W.
rush adaptive, all in at lvl 6
nerfs on his early damage make it SLIGHTLY easier, but he will still outsustain you especially early. Care for CC chain (R+Q) look for trades when his W is down, use YOU Q move speed buff to side step HIS Q
take points in E early instead of extra points in Q. Tabi + Bramble = free win. look to all in at level 6. Care for his ignite and early cheese.
He does a lot of magic damage which is suboptimal to itemize against. Try an early negatron cloak and sit on it until later.
this is death. say goodbye.
she can set up HUGE wombos with her suite of CC. if you follow up a leona ult with your ult your team can clean up the scraps
with decent coordination, you can guarentee a full channeled MF ult which can almost always 100-0 someone.
she puts ball on you, you ult in, she ults you. EZ PZ
gragas will mess up your ult 100% of the time with his ult.
sets up FREE ults for you. insane CC synergy.
you set up NASTY ults for him, or vice-versa.
ulti wombo combo
BIG synergy with fiddle ult, awkward to lane gank though since you are both AP.
Prequel to the Sequel
Howdy Nuggets, This is the build i take into SOLOQ and ranked Flex where it has a 75%wr (Diamond 3) and 88% wr (Grandmasters) respectively.
Malph is an underappreciated tank that fits into almost any comp and provides great engage as well as a solid frontline.
He is very ALSO straightforward which also makes him easy to pick up (;
W max + Iceborn + Grasp + Alacrity attack speed = the tankiest duelist on the rift.
Grasp procs help you win early trades and stay in lane, and after you pick up early kill participation, the inspiration helps you get through rough matchups and sustain high mana costs.
I've expirimented with other secondary trees, such as domination for Ultimate Hunter or precision for alacrity, but while it CAN work, it's much safer to just go inspiration and get through your weak early laning.
Situational / Non core items as well as breakdowns on each matchup are listed here as well. Let me know if i forgot one!
+ Constant Threat to enemy backline
+ spikes HARD at first item
+ almost guarenteed win if into all AD comp
+ AOE abilities = ez to farm and push with
+ simple and straightforward abilities
Survive until you have your glacial + bami's. After that it is smooth sailing into almost every matchup. If you hit a 4 or 5 man ultimate, you are almost guaranteed to win the teamfight. It is important to pickup early wards to drop in the river to prevent ganks setting you too far behind.
- weak early
- easy to gank if overextended
- if ult is down, no hard CC
- does poorly into AP matchups
- cannot solo carry if team is too far behind
Gets bullied by ranged matchups before he gets items. Can be very easy to gank after his ult or flash has been burned. Does not do nearly as well into heavy AP comps. Sometimes necessary to sacrifice CS early to stay in the game. Waveclear before being able to max w or get glacial shroud is also a bit rough
- Grasp: Synergizes well with your kit/ only good tank mastery on malph
- Bone plating: helps survive early trades and stops ranged champs from pushing you out of lane
- Conditioning: buffs your resistances past 10min
- Overgrowth: more HP = OP
- Presence of Mind = Lets you get away with not building any mana items and can free you up to build more HP/MR.
- Alacrity: Grasp + Alacrity + Iceborn+ your "W" gives you insane dueling potential in the midgame. Noone beats you in the 1v1 without help (unless you are extrememly far behind already) <---- CORE PART OF THIS GUIDE
These are your boots of choice in 80% of your matchups. They synergize well with your passive, W, and with iceborn.
The bread and butter of this build. Provides a larger AOE slow that scales in size based on armor. also gives more dmg with sheen passive
Handsfree farming + built in auto trading in 1 item = a REAL good time. provides good survivability early with just bami's
Gives all your abilities a slight bump in dmg and provides more CDR as well as resists against any AP threats
This item was made for malphite (and rammus) Perfect synergy with every aspect of your champion and build
THE PREMIERE KAI'SA COUNTER. Also takes champs like Teemo, Singed, and Casseopia out of the game. *Build only in certain situations*
More innate tankiness and the ability to recover after disengaging a poor fight. CDR is also nice
The "Poor Malph's" Iceborn.. sacrificing dmg for more utility. Consider building if behind.
|Skirmisher's Saber- cinderhulk||Good situational buy into teams with high attack speed or crit|
