Yi's History
In season 2-3 there was AP and AD yi, i will tell you about AP, his Q and W was scaling with AP, Alpha Strike were dealing lots of damage and use Meditate to max your health.
Riot discovered that is really broken, they rework his Q and AP yi gone.
After season 4, there was crit yi, people were building 5x Zeal and make them Phantom Dancer one by one. These days, building the same item few times was a normal thing, i.e many people were building 6x Infinity Edge for AD/crit champs.
After season 9 yi become based on attack speed, crit builds were much more less but there were still many people building crit.
After these new mythical items, there were 2 builds, On-hit and Assasin. On-hit was Kraken and Attack speed items, Assasin was Draktharr and ad/crit items. After 12.5 Patch they nerfed assasin alot, still playable but not good as old. Currently people building kraken/shieldbow builds with attack speed. I miss some details like wriggle's lantern build, but will add them later.

I have reached Diamond rank with +75% winrate, and my winrate on Master Yi was 86%
I was rank #4 with Yi with SoloQ
I have played Master Yi since earlier season 2.
I have more than 1 million Master Yi if all accounts are calculated.
I love to play exotic picks like mid yi, support kog'maw, kalista top etc.
I hate any kind of toxicity in league. That is just a game for fun.

Laning with Yi
First of all, Master Yi is really good at laning.
If you ask why? That is simple.
Reason 1: Your Alpha Strike is really op, why? You can poke enemy with your Alpha Strike via minions. PRO TIPs: You can dodge skillshots while poking with q that is really important i.e Alpha Strike a minion while Malphite's Seismic Shard on the way, so you dodge his damage and you deal some damage to him. You can trick them with Alpha Strike, i.e a minion is going to die, you Q that minion, your enemy expect you gonna teleport there, and he/she tries some skillshots on that minion. Way 2: When your enemy got Flash, Alpha Strike a minion near to him while he/she near to the Tower, he/she will Flash to tower, so you will have flash advantage. You can maximize your damage with your Alpha Strike if there is only 1 minion, that will die and your enemy is near to that minion, use it, that will deal damage 3 times to your enemy.
Reason 2: Your Wuju Style deals true damage according to your bonus AD, you can even do laning with tanks.
Reason 3: Your Meditate heals you alot and decreases burst damage. TIP: If you are getting hard while laning, Lv2 your w, that will heal you a lot.
Reason 4: Your Highlander got Slow Immunity and alot of movement/attack speed. people can't kite you easily.
Master Yi is really good at laning.If you ask why? That is simple.
