Threats to Janna with this build

Threat Champion Notes
1
Leona Leona has a lot of great all-in potential and damage. With a little practice, Janna can break her combo with Howling Gale and disengage. This lane is pretty punishable when you get a feel for her cooldowns. Watch out post-6, her damage sky rockets and can be a real problem for your carry.
1
Morgana Cupcake lane, Let your ADC run wild with shields on trades. Watch for her spell shields and disengage her ult with yours.
1
Tahm Kench Respect the Kench, he's trying his best. Laugh at him if he tries to flex.

Introduction

Welcome Everyone!

My Summoner name is Jointed. This is my guide to Janna, a truly awesome support. I have been playing Janna since Season 3. I ranked high Diamond in Season's 3 through 5. I had dropped out of league during Season 6, but I am back!

The support role is the most underestimated role in League; especially in lower ELO. Support is by far the coolest position in League of Legends; you're basically a Super Hero. With the right mechanics and decision making, you can make your team immortal; unstoppable. Isn't that awesome!?

Janna has a lot of skill involved for such a simple kit. Almost all of her complexity comes in your decision making; when and where you use your kit. She is super fun to pick up and evolve your play! Thank you all for taking your time to read my guide! I spent quite a lot of time into making this, I hope you enjoy it! I present to you, my Guide, Theories and Builds to Janna, the best support out there.

Color Legend for this Guide

Green: The Best Choice.
Blue: A Good Choice.
Red: Not a Great Choice.

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ High Mobility
+ Great out-play potential with Eye Of The Storm
+ Amazing Disengage
+ Doesn't scale off
+ Amazing counter play with Monsoon
+ Easy to Play

Janna is amazingly easy to pick up. She is a relatively safe champion, which makes her feel very rewarding to play. She has a wide array of Shields, Peels, and Heals to keep her Carry and her Team healthy. Monsoon Has amazing counter play against Ultimates such as Death Lotus and Death Mark.
Cons

- Squishy
- Needs team to preform
- Hard to master
- Easy to misuse Monsoon
- Hard to trade correctly with
- Low Damage

Being a squishy champion, Janna can find it hard to trade in lane, often sitting in bushes charging Howling Gale's and using Eye Of The Storm on their carries. Her Kit used incorrectly can throw a fight single handedly. Learning how to trade and engage will decide how well you play Janna.

Summoner Spells

Flash: Wither you need to gap-close or a quick get away, flash will be your bread and butter spell for almost every champion. Being that it amazing to use offensively or defensively; it is a must have.

Exhaust: Detrimental to bottom lane success. Although is just received a nerf, the 40% damage reduction and 30% Movement reduction are nothing to laugh at. Always take.

Teleport: A bit of an odd ball. If you're going to take this spell, take it in the place of Flash. It may take some time getting used to, but Teleport can make some outrageous plays and pressure.

Ability Breakdown

PASSIVE
ABILITY
Tailwind (Passive): The extra movement speed from your passive is amazing for bringing your team to objectives such as dragon or baron or even just rotating for towers. This buff also comes in handy for disengaging.

Q
Howling gale (Q): Howling Gale will be your #1 peel, engage, and disengage tool. While its start up distance is only 800, it increases to over double that in 3 seconds (1,700)! You should set up your Howling Gale's defensively; predicting where the enemy will be relative to your carry. Howling Gale is also extremely useful when zoning the enemy team off of objectives.

W
Zephyr (W): Zephyr is a great peeling ability. This ability slows the target by up to 40% for THREE SECONDS!? That's practically worse than Wither! You know, besides Wither's attack speed reduction...but we wont talk about that. You'll also be hauling across the map with a 17% movement speed buff. Use this ability to single out your target and combo with Howling Gale.

E
Eye of the Storm (E): What a God ability. Eye of the Storm is the single asset that has kept Janna at the top of the Support food chain. At 45% cooldown reduction, this ability will be on a 5.5 second delay with a 5 second affect. You'll be shielding your carry, allies and yourself left and right. Your decision making with this ability will decide how team fights play out. Shielding your carry is not always the right decision.

R
Monsoon (R): Monsoon is a great game changer. Unfortunately its like a prophecy from Star Wars about Anakin. You can absolutely save the day, or you could be looking like a Gold star member of the Red Cross to the enemy team. You can use this ability offensively and try to divide their team. Or you can use it defensively to group heal your team or counter gap closes on your carries.

We are going to max out Eye Of The Storm first to get its full shield and attack damage value. Next we are going to max Zephyr over Howling Gale because Howling Gale only lowers the cooldown by 1 second per level while increasing the mana cost by 15 per rank. Zephyr's slow will go up by 4% per rank, ranging from 24% to 40%.

Redemption

Locket of the Iron Solari

I prefer to building into Talisman of Ascension over Eye of the Oasis because Talisman of Ascension gives absurd control over engaging and disengaging as it grants a 40% Movement speed bonus for three seconds! This item synergizes with all of your spells and works very well with Ruby Sightstone

With Ruby Sightstone's 20% Item Active cooldown reduction, it synergizes amazingly well with items such as Talisman of Ascension, Mikael's Crucible, and Redemption. The extra 500 Health is also greatly appreciated.

I prefer boots of mobility for roaming, securing objectives and staying faster than anyone else on the map. In certain situations Mercury's Treads and Ninja Tabi can be amazing choices to stay relevant for your team. Pick what you like! Just know why you're picking them.

Mikael's Crucible has been a powerhouse for Janna ever since patch [6.13], when they added 20% Healing and Shielding on. This should be your very first big item, as its passives and actives are game changing. If you're not very good with item actives, I suggest you play some normal's to get the hang of it!

What's better than cross-map supporting? Redemption again boosts our Healing and Shielding power (Getting rid of the need for pesky AP). Redemption has once again become a power house in Patch 7.12; boasting 300% benefit from Healing and Shielding power. The kicker is that this item can even be used after death, making Redemption extremely valuable. Place in the middle of fights for a boost in your teams trade potential, or use it to zone the enemies and limit their mobility.

Locket of the Iron Solari took a huge hit in patch [6.22], in which it most notably lost 400 health and 10% cooldown reduction. However its active is way too strong right now. Its active scales with the target's level and our Bonus Health [296] up to a 730 Shield...Per person. This is an AMAZING team fighting tool.

Ardent Censer is my absolute favorite item at the moment. The downside this item has is that you need another person to utilize it to its full potential. While this item gives us more Healing and Shielding buffs, that's not where it excels. It gives a Healed or Shielded target a amazing attack speed and on-hit damage buff. This item is especially nice to pick up on Jhin as your Eye Of The Storm and Ardent Censer will work together to buff him over 100 attack damage.

Summary

Well, that pretty much sums it up. I bid you well on your Janna adventures and implore you to keep practicing! Lets all aim for Diamond (or higher) together, we need more supports on the Rift!

Thank you so much for taking the time out to read through my Janna guide! If you have any questions, comments or concerns, PLEASE let me know and leave a comment in the discussion section! If you enjoyed this guide leave a like and comment anyway!

One more thing. If you guys are interested in making your own guides on your favorite champions, it's a MUST to read Jhoijhoi's Making a Guide walk through. I was brand new to Mobafire's guide creation and HTML coding alike. Jhoijhoi's guide is what inspired me to make my own, I could not have made this guide without them!
