[9.23] OFFENSIVE Soraka Support Guide - To Poke & Heal

By M1sh0
INTRO
Hey Guys, Im M1sh0 and welcome to my Soraka Support Guide. This is my first guide ever so it may be bad but idk. Anyways I started playing League pretty recently and I started playing champs like Soraka, Janna, Taric, Nami for support and then now getting into Mid with Syndra, LeBlanc, Lissandra and Aurelion Sol and some uncommon top laners. I'm currently Silver II put don't have much time to climb so I'm kinda just here. Thanks for stopping by and if you any questions, feel free to drop a comment!!!
Thanks!!!

Why Soraka???

Soraka is mainly a Support Champion that encompasses the world healing in her. She brings incredible heals to the team fights which can turn the tide of the game. She is the great healer in my opinion and if you love spamming heals, being annoying and changing the tide of the game, Soraka, is for you.
Pros & Cons Back to Top
Pros Cons
INCREDIBLE HEALING!!!
SQUISHY!!!
Very Annoying and Pokey
Countered by Hook Supports and Champions
GLOBAL HEALING POWERS!!!
Low mana in early game
Amazing in Teamfights
Low damage output (early game)
Basically an Ambulance!!!
Can be one shot very easily if picked off!!!
Raka RUNES!!! Back to Top
Primary Rune:
Secondary Rune:
Sorcery
Summon Aery: Shield Ally when u use ur Astral Infusion ability and also damages enemies from Equinox and Starcall.
Manaflow Band: Poking helps increase mana which lets you be more annoying and lets you poke more.
Transcendence: So you can get more CDR and spam Starcall and Heals.
Scorch: For a bit more dmg for ur E and Q abilities.

Inspiration
Biscuit Delivery: Mana depletes pretty quick early game so biscuits and any sort of Mana Regen. really help Raka.
Time Warp Tonic: More potion and biscuit healing which is helpful with the new patch 9.23. (NO CDR on Frostfang, or Shard of True Ice)

Transcendence: So you can get more CDR and spam Starcall and Heals.
Gathering Storm: Increase AP over the course of the game, the longer the better.

Domination
Taste of Blood: Starcall now heals for more and now E heals for only a bit but still...HEALS.
Ultimate Hunter: With Ignite is great cause if you get a kill it translates into more CDR for ur ultimate which is pretty damn important.

As a Soraka you ALWAYS take Flash. Flash is your main way of escaping, going for a cheeky kill or if you need to dodge a hook from her extreme threats.
Ignite is an option for all you offensive, poking and annoying Sorakas out there. My personal favourite Spells to take along with Flash. As Soraka with your Starcall and Equinox you are able to both Silence, Slow and later root your enemy which can lead into a kill. As a support you need all the kills you can get, but don't kill steal all the time. 1 - 3 kills is good for you, but if you get flamed for stealing all ur adc's kills, you are now the ADC, jk. But in general Ignite would probably be the best spell to take.
Favorite
Exhaust, a less common option for me but in many high Elo games will be used over Ignite and Heal. Exhaust lets you slow down an enemy by 40% for 2.5 seconds which with Flash or healing your ADC to disengage will help you not to die. You can use this with either rune Sorcery & Inspiration or Sorcery & Domination. Also can help for engages on low health enemy which can lead into cheeky kill for you or ur ADC. For me, not my favourite option but can be useful in many situations.
Barrier is not as useful for me as other spells but it has its benefits with a shield depending on Level with will help with Soraka's squishiness.

HOOK CHAMPS!!! Back to Top
A con of all Bottom Lane players, "Hook" Champions.

Thresh
Pyke
Blitzcrank
Nautilus

These champions are the most deadly to Soraka players (w/ Maokai Support. Also its not great that Maokai is being buffed in patch 9.21) as they are able to stop your poking and contain possible engages which can lead to death for both you and your ADC.

Below are some scenarios of Bottom Lane with and without "Hook Champions.
Bot Lane (No Hook Champs) Back to Top

Welcome to your home, Bottom Lane, where the ganks are plentiful and where legends our made. As a Soraka support you would begin your first 2 levels staying behind ur ADC and hitting Starcall a couple times, I recommend warding the enemy lane bush for possible poke potential sometime when you hit a poke on an enemy champion.

From levels 3-6 you can start to become even more poke-like. If you an ur ADC have great communication be sure to freeze the lane in the middle of Bottom Lane and you just spamming ur Starcall and Equinox and make sure they don't come close and aren't Able to CS. Also you should have free wards so remember to ward river bush if you can keep lane or are pushing it forward.

For levels 6 and up you can keep poking and being annoying you will be higher level than the enemy Bottom Lane. And you with your ultimate you can be even more aggressive and try to go for kills with Soraka's great heals and having the possibly of Ignite on you or your ADC.

Then it will be a typical game for the rest of the match, with healing, getting one-shot and hopefully winning.
Bot Lane (Hook Champs) Back to Top
Welp, you started up a game of League and you're playing Soraka and ur playing against a "Hook" champion. Not fun.

When starting the game from Levels 1-2 you should be staying behind your minions which is the ideal tactic and to starting warding your bushes in case of a push from them.

From levels 3-6 start to play more aggressive shooting out Equinox's to silence a possible hook and then push 'em back with a Starcall and while ur in there bush be sure to ward it to stop them from possible hooks and engages from them. If your feeling risky go for another Starcall and then back out as your Starcall Cooldown is fairly low.

From levels 6 and up in Bottom Lane prepare for trouble. You are now in full Raka mode. You have full potential of poking with the chance you do get hooked you now have ur Ultimate ( Wish) to save you (but use you're ultimate wisely). You can still use your Equinox which will lead into a root and into a Starcall and possibly a kill with your ADC and Ignite or Exhaust (if you or ur ADC took it(also you shouldn't have both, one person should take heal, TOO RISKY)).

Then it will be a typical game for the rest of the match.
A typical Raka Game Back to Top
Soraka, my favourite champion, a fun champion that you use to heal ur allies and be annoying to everyone else. So how to play her, just go to bot lane with your adc and then from there...

Lvl. 1 - 3

Welcome to Bottom Lane, now from ur first couple levels you don't wanna poke and make sure ur adc doesn't poke especially at level 1 cause ur don't have W up. (Tell em that) But if you are out poking ur enemies you can start to poke at Lvl 3.

Lvl. 4-5.9

Now hopefully you have gone back once to get Frostfang and a Faerie Charm and other things, but it you somehow still have mana and health then you should be poking the **** out of the enemy adc. MAKE SURE TO WARD BUSHES SO you can use them as cheeky poking tools and to pressure the enemies with ur presence. Watch out for hook characters though. By Lvl.5 you should have Starcall to Lvl.3 and Heal and ur silencer at Lvl. 1.

Lvl. 6-10

Congrats, now you have ur ultimate. Which means that now you can mean people across the map with it. So make sure u watch all ur allies' health at ALL times. But with your ultimate up now you can engage a lot with your Equinox root and any of ur ADC's engages and potentials to do so. MORE HEALS for you transfers to MORE CHANCES and MORE KILLS and just being fed in general. Also by the end of this stage you should have Redemption which is another heal that adds on the Raka.

Lvl. 11-18

It's team fights time and now ur very important. You are the chance BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH FOR UR ALLIES. Make sure to time ur Ultimate ( Wish) when everyone is fighting. Also try not to get one-shot by a burst jungle or one-shot by anything else cause ur squishy. Heals are very important for the Teamfights and Disenegages, as well as ur ultimate, Redemption and heal if you took it.

Congrats that's a Soraka Support Game for you. I've played about 175 games (and have around 85k Mastery points, and I'm a Mastery 7 Soraka) with Raka and have had fun in almost all of em including some Soraka Mid, Top, Support and even Jungle. Hope you enjoy Soraka as much as I do.
