Threats & Synergies
Be careful, if they play defensively, it can be so annoying for us to kill him, we will suffer their barrels a lot if we don't destroy them. The best way of winning is trying to get favourable trades from the very first moment.
We have to take care about Aatrox triple Q, if we avoid the third one then we're probably winning the trade. You'll need to get a kill or minion advantage for winning the lane after level 6. If you're not able to get it just hold the lane. Fight later with your team.
It's not so hard to win before level 6, just wait for the W to fade away and you'll get the favourable trade. If she reaches level 6 ahead... you better stay under tower, not even your passive can save you.
These kind of offensive bruisers are usually easy to beat post level 6. Even more when you can cancel her stunt with your E and her R becomes almost useless unless her jungler comes to gank.
I think Cho'Gath matchup is not so hard, the best way to counter the true damage is building HP, also, building tons of HP is what Volibear is all about.
Ok, this is so special for me. Depending of the day it is so easy or almost impossible for me to beat Darius. The best thing is to ask for an early gank to your jungler so you can start ahead. Rush Bami's and Bramble Vest and you should be fine. Die just once against him and the lane is over.
I have always thought Volibear is an updated version of Dr.Mundo, his passive is almost equal to Mundo's ultimate and it is more useful for our team. I think it won't be hard for you to bully him pre lvl 6. After that, as soon as he ults you can ignite and bite him with our W because that'll be the moment when he'll have less HP and we'll deal more damage.
So many ways of getting countered by her parry. You can kill her very early if you play it well but after that, the 1v1 becomes impossible.
Oh come on, his W is unfair! You will not be able to damage him, and if you do, he will heal with his passive. When your passive procs he will just have to finish you with the ultimate. If you try to grab him he will just run out with his Q.
It's so difficult but it is possible to knock him down. Try to get lvl 2 before he does and try to trade even if you get hurt. You'll be healing up don't worry. At lvl 3 try to flash all in, put up the ignite and try to bite him at the very last moment, if he dies, the lane will be free. The other possibility is to trade when he gets Mega-Gnar. This will be the way of killing him after the first levels.
No one will judge you if you dodge this champion select. But if you don't try to trade just once you have cleared the tentacles. If you get cursed, stay frosty, just kill two tentacles and keep playing defensively.
This is not hard at all but if you underestimate her damage and die early you'll be into a trouble. If the lane is tied and she ults you, don't worry, don't walk away, it will be worse. Just activate your R, put her your ignite and try to kill her.
You can win the lane if you trade when he has no E, try to bait him for using it. But after level 9 it becomes an impossible duel.
Against ranged champions always try to get near him at lvl 2 and trade, then at lvl 3 try to all in. Just like Gnar.
This is another tricky matchup, try to trade him until he has almost no additional HP. If Skaarl is very low HP and you get the cooldowns, its all in moment. Try to wait until he wastes his W autos and go for the kill.
You're not killing him but hes neither killing you. Just try to farm more than he does and try to be more useful later. This is one of those matchups where you should take teleport.
Same as Malphite, maybe theres a chance of killing him before he gets his first tanky item.
Ask to your jungler for some help, you will need it. You can win by hitting lvl 6 before he does, but theres no way you can win a duel later.
Olaf hits his power spike when hes low HP, but also you do. Be patient, you'll be winning, just don't oeverextend.
I HATE this kind of laners. Ornn counters you in many situations. He can disengage, he recieves ganks insanely. That shield protects him against your W, your main way of damaging him.
Poppy was created to make me cry, to be honest. I suffer a lot when facing Poppy. If I try to get closer she runs, if I do it, she will q on the ground and hit me with her passive, slowing and making me lose the trade. Even if the lane is over and the game still goes on 40 minutes later, she can make you lose the whole game by hitting a home run when you try to engage.
Predict her E once, if you cancel her most problematic ability just once with your own E congratulations, you have won the lane.
It's not easy for us to win this matchup but if hes building too offensive you can burst him easily.
It is easy for me. She'll be problematic because you won't get near her easily, but if she tries to trade you can alway cancel her third Q, pick her up and hit the whole combo. This way she'll be waiting at her tower for the minion wave.
Theres absolutely no problem against Rumble, just hold on until lvl 6, after that try to go all in, you should be killing him, he will be so squishy.
You can counter his ultimate easily if you see him. Don't underestimate his damage at the beginning.
His E + W counters you, theres not much more to say, if you rush magic resist you won't be dying. If you hold the toplane fine, he will be useless later. Run TP on this one.
This matchup is difficult to explain. Killing him at the beginning is not so hard but at the same time he has a lot of tools for zoning you. Be careful, you'll probably get ganked a lot by the enemy jungler.
Facing him is not hard. Don't let him free poke, just trade hin when his E is gone. If you catch him the trade is insane for you.
The lane is winnable but the way it is played is different. Wins the one that runs more. Rush mercs, you'll need them. After level 6 if you grab him far from his tower you'll always kill him or force his flash.
Even if you get 2 kills before you both get ultimate he always outscales you. Don't split push against him, hes better at doing that.
Take care of his fury level, you can win before he gets the 5 seconds invulnerability but take care about his lvl 2 critical hits. You can cancel his E.
I do always ban Urgot this patch, if your passive procs it is because he can instakill you with his ultimate. Unlucky.
Wait until level 6, force him to waste his W and go all in with ignite after that, short trades are pointless here.
Easy matchup, don't die the first 5 minutes and the match is yours. Pay attention, if you're running behind him clicking on him once he becomes invisible you'll stop moving. Please, always move by clicking on the floor. The invisibility doesn't last for so long.
So easy, you can cancel his dash. The first time you do it he'll stay there like if he didn't understand what happened for half a second since from the moment he dashes hes pointing at the next minion to dash. Grab him and trade. You'll be always ahead here.
Yes, you will suffer. Try to priorize Yorick's minions when farming. Just go all in when his ult is out, if you dodge his jail when running you'll get the kill.
The Lulu + Volibear combo is way too OP. Every single champion that grants us movement speed fits so well in our team but if you can also become a shielded monster we got one of the strongest synergies of the entire game. Ideal for DuoQ.
Another strong combination. Zilean is the champion that gives the highest amount of speed to his allyes, furthermore if you die in the middle of the teamfight you can revive at 3k+ HP. Pretty insane.
You can flash into the enemy team and choose who do you want Yasuo to ult. In late game, grab the enemy ADC with your Q and he will be instantly destroyed.
Another shield support that will follow our mid game engages at the drake/nashor pit, after killing one enemy or if we get into a trouble she will just ult the rest of the team out.
Im currently one of the best 15 Volibear in EUW.
I've been playing League of Legends since 2012, when I started playing rankeds. I have climb from an ELO score of 550 (worse than the actual bronze V) in season 2 to Diamond IV 6 years later.
I will teach how do I play my main champion, I will focus on how is he played in SoloQ, thats why im telling you to play him with Ignite.
Triumph gives you the chance of surviving to a crazy tower dive or even to an Ignite, it really needs to be nerf. Coup de Grace is insane combined with Frenzy.
Bami's Cinder. This is my favourite item by far, it gives you amazing stats for only 900 gold. This combines with Frenzy perfectly. After it we'll finish the Sunfire Cape as soon as possible.
If you're playing against an ability power champion such as Vladimir you can build Bami's Cinder aswell but before anything else you must priorize Spectre's Cowl and Spirit Visage
For the boots I choose Mercury's Treads, you cannot dash into the fight. The only way for you to get into the enemy team is to run more than they do, you need Tenacity for that. If you're playing DuoQ with a friend and he mains support, he can pick Lulu or Zilean, those combos are insane.
The key of the build is the Righteous Glory, it allows you to make the most savage engages.
Spirit Visage is the last core item I will be talking about, the healing you get with Chosen of the Storm will be increased by a 30%. This means that if you have a maximum health of 3000 you will heal 900 once your passive procs. Combined with Spirit Visage this amount is increased to 1170 HP healed.
For the full build I really like how Sterak's Gage fits to this aggresive playstyle.
If you are not feeling tanky enough you can build Randuin's Omen as your last item.
Of course if the game is not over once you have got the full build keep buying Elixir of Iron.
- Using it before Rolling Thunder when you're near an enemy for grabbing him back.
- Canceling dashes, jumps... Volibear is a really nice counter of Tristana's Rocket Jump
- Theres a chance of making a huge combo combined with Yasuo's Last Breath
But, why are we upgrading Majestic Roar at lvl 1?
I think it is the most useful skill for the first minute of the game since this is the way you have the best level 1 duel. You may not have the Frenzy attack speed buff, but you can fear away every minion is around you, you get the Aftershock bonus armor and the damage when it explodes.
Then, we will always priorize Frenzy since it is a really powerful skill. It scales pretty well, you will have to discover by yourself how do you prefer to use it. It has a high cooldown reduced to the half if we use it on minions and monsters (we can use it for last hitting a cannon minion).
- Great tank with amazing individual CC.
- Easy to play.
- Nice engages, you can comeback by picking up the right guy.
- Unknown champion.
- Weak against kite and poke.
- Blade of the Ruined King counters him so much.
- If you run too far from your teammates looking for the engage, they won't be able to follow you up.
I hope you guys like it, share and tell me if theres any mistake so I can fix it.
Thanks and see you in the Summoner's Rift!
