Introduction

This guide for a Hybrid Kayle will be focusing on items with on hit effects, achievable items within the allotted time and alternative items you might buy for different situations within the Dominion setting.

Now, if you are not looking for a build for Kayle that is both useful to yourself and your team, a build that will not have you die in seconds when facing opponents, a build that is actually obtainable before the time runs out?
Well, then go somewhere else.

None so far...

Will try to add more strategy to the guide.

Masteries

The Masteries focus on 2 things, Damage and Survivability. With logically all the damage coming from the Offense mastery tree and survivability from the Defense mastery tree. Now let's take a closer look at each individual tree:

Offense Masteries

needs and what Kayle has. So lets take a look at each individual pick from the tree:
  • Summoner's Wrath is chosen to increase the speed of ghost, to get you there faster.
  • Brute Force is chosen to increase Kayle's main source of damage, auto-attacks.
  • Alacrity is chosen to increase the rate of Kayle's main source of damage.
  • Sorcery is chosen for the requirement and early game, when you don't have your items.
  • Weapon Expertise is chosen to avoid some of the opponents armor.
  • Archaic Knowledge is chosen to avoid some of the opponents magic resist.
  • Havoc is simply there to increase all forms of damage flowing out of Kayle.

Drawbacks

There are a couple of drawbacks you should be aware of concerning the nature of Kayle's Holy Fervor innate and the Weapon Expertise & Archaic Knowledge masteries. Namely the fact that Kayle's innate decreases armor and magic resist in an eventually flat amount, and that the masteries penetrate armor in percentages. This results in the effectiveness of the masteries decreasing as the innate takes effect. It may also result in fluctuating damage numbers.

However this is only an issue early on and gets resolved as the matches go on longer, increasing the armor and magic resist for many champions. For those champions that do not have an increasing defense scale, it is highly likely that their armor and magic resist is decreased to 0 unless they build items to increase them.

Defense Masteries

lacks and what can be improved So lets take a look at each individual pick from the tree:

Drawbacks

I don't necessarily consider any of these picks drawbacks however some people opt to go a different route then Durability and Veteran's Scars . Taking three points in Vigor a second point in Indomitable and a free point to put wherever they please.

This is fine too, I however, noticed that the small amount of health gained from the chosen masteries is just enough to take that extra hit. And I would much rather get away alive then having a tad faster regeneration of health.

Runes

Just like the masteries, the runes focus on increasing Damage and Survivability. Note however that these Runes are not the actually used runes, but since the new hybrid runes have not been added to this system at the time of writing, you make do with what you got. To make it clear, any Mark of Desolation, Mark of Magic Penetration and equivalent Quintessence will be replaced by:

Destruction

Runes

Precision
Press the Attack
Electrocute
Lethal Tempo
Predator

These are all chosen the same way as the masteries, what Kayle needs and lacks are all worked out here. Increasing what she does well already is a big part in her roll, and ironing out what she doesn't do well is maybe even more important, so without further stalling:

Alternatives

Now this is of course not set in stone, I myself find the setup of increasing armor and magic resist with increasing armor and magical penetration to be optimal for Kayle. There are however alternatives you could take into consideration if your play-style differs from mine. These Runes are all beneficial to Kayle.

Note that any Mark, Seal or Glyph chosen is useful to be taken as a Quintessence counterpart as well.

Items

As stated before, the items chosen will mostly focus on on-hit effects. However for Kayle to be effective from start to finish, there are a couple of necessities to be fulfilled first. Namely these are an amount of Cool Down Reduction, Movement Speed and in a small amount Life Steal. Therefore I prefer to grab these right off the bat with the
first purchase

These first items will get you well on your way to building your core items, also they will provide a good start, by increasing your damage output because of the attack speed, and increasing your survivability because of the life stealing. On your first Back you will build these items towards their ultimate end of your Core Items

After that you start to really complete the build by building the on-hit items which will significantly increase your attack speed and magical damage. Note that you do not have to complete the core items right away, but you can also leave them in their intermediate state by stopping at Stinger and Bilgewater Cutlass after which you still grab the
Finishing Items

Alternatives

Even though this is the most effective item setup I know of, there are some alternatives you could take. I would suggest keeping Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Nashor's Tooth, Malady and Kitae's Bloodrazor no matter what. You could however swap out Wit's End and Hextech Gunblade for one or two of the following items:

Note that some of these combinations may not be achievable in an actual match unless you are extremely fed. And that these combinations are not as optimal as the items provided in the build. As most of these will decrease some amount of survivability and some passive damage effects might not work with the entire on-hit magic damage combination. Lich Bane for example.

Summoner Spells

Summoner Spells are really personal preference for anyone, I take Ghost to get where I want to go fast. It's just that pinch spell that can turn the tide by getting you on the other side of the map to cap an unguarded shrine. And I take Heal because it just goes so well with your skill set. You use your ultimate on yourself or an ally, use Divine Blessing and top it off with Heal. This way a high priority target is not only saved from death, but usually half to fully healed in the process, ready to fight on.

Might Take

Dueling skills

To temporarily increase your damage output by a wide margin.
Just to counter that pesky little thing called Life Steal, Spell Vamp and other healing abilities.
For snaring, Decreasing resistances and decreasing opponents damage output

Pushing & Defending

For defending against multiple opponents or for pushing a defended tower without much damage taken.
For pushing the lane, more minions means faster cap. Can really make the difference in the end.

Utillity

To save your life against melee champs that have already closed the distance. Or to wall hop from the bush to the capture point, or for hopping the wall to run away.

Don't Take

The respawn timer is not that long in dominion.
You blow up minion waves as it is, there is no need for overkill.
You only have a practical use for this when running from multiple opponents, which in dominion probably have multiple snares.
Unlike with Blitzcrank this does not save you in any way, any mana u blow during battle is easily gained back with health shrines or just by going back.
The vision from the lanes is plenty, there is no real need to scout, when you pay attention you have an idea of where everybody is most of the time.

Summary

The nature of Kayle is one that is one of the most versitile, her skill-set allows her to support allies, clear minion waves fast, deal burst damage, deal sustained damage, decrease armor and have a non fixed damage output (physical AND magical). This makes kayle an asset to the team when these points are boosted.

And that is exactly what this build does, improve on the allready strong foundation, by increasing penetration and increasing the rate of dmg via attack speed. The magical damage gets boosted trough item effects instead of abillity power, this makes it much more efficient as a hybrid champ seeing as the bonus STATS from these items often include attack damage.

Kayle might just be one of the strongest duellers out there. So grab this build, get out there, have fun and above all: "Bring justice to the league!"
