Introduction


Hello and welcome to my very first Ezreal guide , i'm not good with flashy intros and all that stuff so i'll just keep the whole guide simple and short , hope you don't mind !

First off i'll talk abit about Ezreal , he is more of an AD(Attack Damage) caster type of champion rather than an auto-attacking champion , so if you like skillshots and a versatile type of champion , he's the one . I play Ezreal as an AD carry simply because his Mystic Shot scale really well with AD and it has a fairly short cooldown , not to mention the passive from this skill also applies to this skill itself making it even shorter . His passive Rising Spell Force also has great synergy with an AD build . Trueshot Barrage also scales with bonus AD .

Feel free to criticize and give suggestions as i'm still learning and am willing to receive any help to improve my guide .

Masteries ( Summoner's Rift ) - Build 1

: For improved Ghost and Exhaust

: A little extra early game damage

: A little extra attack speed to increase your dps(Damage per second)

: Nice Armor Penetration bonus

: Helps push towers faster , as an AD carry you're the one who's responsible for taking down the tower while your team defends you

: A slight damage buff

: A little extra chance to get a critical hit off an auto attack

: Increases the amount of damage dealt if you do get a critical hit

: More Armor Penetration for that extra damage

: Kills people who are below 40% health 6% faster

: Helps tank some damage from harassments

: Gives some Magic Resist

: A little health per level boost

: Adds manliness , the health helps early game




: Reason why i don't spec into this is because the 3% lifesteal isn't so great during laning phase as you have to be constantly hitting minion's in order for this to kick in and this is bad because what you want to do during laning phase is last hit , last hit and last hit , not auto attacking minion's and overextending to the enemies tower .

Masteries ( Dominion )

Dominion are basically the same ,the only difference here is that i switch a point in Demolitionist to Havoc since there are no towers in Dominion for you to hit on..




As for Vampirism , i still find the 3% lifesteal not so great but if you find it useful feel free to spec into it .

Runes


Note : I roll with Greater Mark of Desolation x9 , Greater Seal of Armor x9 , Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction x9 , Greater Quintessence of Health x1 and Greater Quintessence of Desolation x2 . This is my personal setup as it fits my playstyle , i like the feeling of that extra little health and the Armor Penetration is decent enough . Again this is my playstyle so feel free to switch up a few things to fit your own playstyle .

  • Greater Mark of Desolation:The Armor Penetration is really helpfull especially during early game as it increases your damage output when people haven't invested in some Armor
  • Greater Seal of Armor:The starting extra Armor is nice , it allows you to tank some damage from minion's and harassments in order to counter-harass . It also discourages your enemies from harassing you when they see that the damage they deal is so minimal
  • Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction:The CDR(Cooldown Reduction) is nice and i found it useful as it allows me to spam my skills more often (E.g. Use my ult more often to defend towers)
  • Greater Quintessence of Health:A little early game health boost to prevent being a victim of First Blood . Also discourages enemies from harassing you and gives you that advantage where your enemies are less likely to fight back when you try to harass them
  • Greater Quintessence of Desolation:Great Armor Penetration bonus throughout the entire game and again especially during early game when no one has invested in Armor

Summoner Spells

: It gives him that extra speed he needs to chase or run from an enemy and he already has a built-in Flash which is Arcane Shift

: This covers for Ezreal's lack of CC . It completely shuts down other AD carries and makes your life easier (It also helps againts AP carries)




Alternative Summoner Spells



: If you feel like you don't need the extra speed from Ghost feel free to take this instead , this is basically a backup if u screwed up your Arcane Shift or it can be used as a slight boost to catch up to an opponent by lining it up with Arcane Shift and vice versa for running away from enemies (DOUBLE FLASH FTW)

: Gives you that extra damage you need to get a First Blood and also has a nice reduce healing debuff to take care of those pesky healers

: As suggested by Chith , this is a good counter toward CC's , it also reduces the duration of new CC's cast onto you for a few seconds after it is used . Gets you out of the stickiest situation's accompanied by Arcane Shift and in Dominion where it's important to stay alive because every second counts . This also acts as a counter to his vulnerability toward CC's (NOTE : If you're taking this , you can put a point in Summoner's Resolve to increase the duration of the CC reduction)

Skills Explanation

:This is Ezreal's passive , its good for taking down tower's quickly . It has a maximum of 5 stacks which is 50% attack speed (You can stack it up quickly by using your Trueshot Barrage and hitting minions across the map or hitting the enemy champions as they engage in a teamfight)

: It is a Skillshot . This is your main source of damage , it has a very long range , a fairly short cooldown and don't forget about the passive , for each time you hit something it reduces all your cooldowns by 1second including this skill itself . DO NOTE : This can also be used to check bushes and detect invisible enemies as it gives a sound if it hits an enemy (Yes it does hit invisible enemies because its a skillshot) NOTE : This skill also applies on-hit effects such as the Red Buff , Sheen's passive , Phage's passive and any item with on-hit effects

:This skill doesn't affect minions and only affects champions . I use this mainly to stack my Rising Spell Force faster and the extra bit of damage isn't so bad either . This is also another tool to check bushes and detect invisible enemies . It also has a nice attack speed buff which is useful for pushing towers quickly with your teammates

:This is like Flash , it shoots a homing arrow that deals magic damage at the nearest enemy after it is used , this can be used to detect invisible enemies as well . This can be used to go over walls , get into position and dodge enemy skillshots

:This is a global ultimate , it is quite hard to master but you'll get the hang of it sooner or later and yes it can hit invisible enemies . It can also be used to farm a lane full of minions or assist in a teamfight if you're too far away or score a First Blood of an unsuspecting victim with low health recalling at the back of the tower

Uses for Trueshot Barrage
  • Quickly stacking up your Rising Spell Force
  • Stealing Baron/Dragon (Requires good timing)
  • Finishing off running enemies
  • Farming a lane
  • Defending a tower
  • Assisting in a teamfight which is too far away
  • Quickly pushing a lane

Since we're going to build him AD this is the best skill sequence for him , this maximizes his AD scaling . Also , the reason why i put a point in Essence Flux at Level 4 is because it gives you abit of extra damage and is good against other AD carries because of the attack speed debuff , it also helps stack up your passive Rising Spell Force and can be used to push towers with your allies as it also give a attack speed buff to allies .

Build 2 Skill Sequence




I put a point in Essence Flux at Level 3 for the extra damage and the attack speed debuff since adding a point in Mystic Shot after level 1 only increases the damage by 20 and reduce the cooldown by 0.5sec AND it also increases mana cost by 5 , while adding a point in Essence Flux gives a straight 80 damage .Better early game burst .

Item Explanation ( Summoner's Rift ) - Build 1

Starting Items



This gives your Mystic Shot an extra +10 damage and also gives you a bit of survivability

OR



and x3 is also a decent start , it gives you the ability to zone your opponents because of the mobility and have a good sustain during laning phase thanks to the Health Potion




Core Items



This gives you more CDR to allow you to spam your skills more often since Ezreal is an AD caster type of champion so most of his damage comes from his skills

This increases your damage output by twofold , since Ezreal is a spammable champion this items works beautifully on him (Sheen's proc also applies to Mystic Shot)

Once fully stacked , gives the most AD out of the 3 main AD items and the lifesteal is great for sustaining in lane

Has everything Ezreal needs , a chance to slow , some survivability , attack speed , movement speed (The Sheen and Phage passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)




Situational Items



A good counter to other champions who rely on their skill combo's (E.g. LeBlanc) . The extra health and mana doesn't hurt either (Counters his vulnerability toward CC's)

This works like Cleanse but with lower cooldown , however this item does not lower the duration of new CC's applied onto you after it is used . This is really good for escaping those annoying CC's . I usually grab this because it's much cheaper therefore allows me to move on to my damage items faster and i also like to choose when to escape from a CC (Counters his vulnerability toward CC's) (NOTE : You have to remember to activate it when you're CC-ed)

A good counter towards champions with alot of health (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)

Nice damage and attack speed boost + a nice armor penetration for your entire team (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)

Replace Black Cleaver with this if the enemy starts stacking alot of armor (e.g. 130 and above) (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)

If you find yourself auto attacking alot then this item is good but through my experience i'm more of the type to run around and let my skillshots do the work since the CDR on this guy seems to be fairly short (NOTE : Main reason i don't get this is because Mystic Shot doesn't crit , but the damage is still nice)




Note : I usually grab a few Doran's Blade early game (Around 1-3) if i'm not doing too good OR if i recalled and have just enough gold for a Doran's Blade , this will give you some early advantage over your opponents

I grab this in place of Banshee's Veil because it's much cheaper therefore allows me to move on to my damage items faster . In this build i usually stay at the back and let my skillshots do the work since most of Ezreal's skill are long ranged so i don't get much survivability items and focus on damage items instead

Gives you all the Armor Penetration you need

This is where the Arcane Knowledge Magic Penetration comes in handy because Madred's Bloodrazor's passive is that it deals 4% of the targets max health as Magic Damage , so the 10% works here aswell (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)


Total Cost (Excluding pots,wards,elixirs) : 16125g

Item Explanation ( Dominion )

Starting Items



This is like an improved version of Doran's Blade , it gives your Mystic Shot an extra +20 damage and also gives you survivability (NOTE : The passive from this item which is +200 health does not stack with the same item , so stacking this item is pointless)

For some early game movement speed boost to reach capture points faster

x2 For some early game sustain




Core Items



Some of the items here are the same as the build for SR(Summoner's Rift) so i'll just copy & paste them here , hope you don't mind for the lack of variation .

This gives you more CDR to allow you to spam your skills more often since Ezreal is an AD caster type of champion so most of his damage comes from his skills

This increases your damage output by twofold , since Ezreal is a spammable champion this items works beautifully on him (Sheen's proc also applies to Mystic Shot)

Has everything Ezreal needs , a chance to slow , some survivability , attack speed , movement speed (The Sheen and Phage passive from this item aslo applies to Mystic Shot)

This is an AD version of Guinsoo's Rageblade , since you'll be attacking alot on Dominion it's easy to stack this up . Increases your damage output and gives you lifesteal to help stay in combat

This helps you deal with those annoying invi's like Shaco , Twitch , Evelynn and also gives attack speed to help stack your Sanguine Blade faster and the extra damage doesn't hurt . Also prevents people from juking you due to the vision you gain when attacking them (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)

Huge damage boost , some survivability + a chance to slow and the active is amazing . Prevents your enemies from running away (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)

With this you can take down those hp stackers in seconds and it also helps stack your Sanguine Blade faster (The passive from this item also applies to Mystic Shot)
