Can poke you out if he lands multiple Q's, becomes difficult to 1v1 later on. Try to hide behind minions and fight after he wastes his Q. Get an Execution's Calling during your first two backs. Post 6 do not all in if he still has ultimate, try to bait it then re-engage when it is down. Try to roam instead of fighting him.
Difficult to stick to because of his Q and E. He can all in you if he pokes you down because of true damage on ultimate. Try to let him push in early levels and ask for ganks between level 3 and 9. If he stacks his ultimate and gets too much health just try to roam and make plays instead of fighting him, only returning to catch minions under tower.
Haven't actually played this match-up but would imagine it's difficult. Consider maxing Q and trying to poke him out? You can probably fight him after 2 items completed given that he hasn't snowballed.
Your E is really strong against her and there isn't too much she can do to outplay you. Don't go for a max-range ultimate on her unless her Parry is 100% down, try to gap-close using Q and either bait her Parry or use a point-blank ultimate so she can't react.
Take short trades in the beginning and try to make him use his oranges to heal / cleanse your slow. When he does you have a window to all in when your Q is back up. Careful not to take too much harass from his Q, use your passive shield well.
Rough match-up, can't really fight him pre-6. Consider maxing Q in lane to try and poke out while asking for a gank if he pushes up. If he hasn't snowballed you can fight him post 6. Just make sure he is not close to Mega-Gnar and gap-close with Q. Try to hold your ultimate until he hops away.
Your E is really good against him, consider maxing first. You'll have to get a feel for when he uses his counter-strike, if he uses it at the start of a trade don't active your W until he stuns you. Then chase him down with Q and claps while he is defenseless.
Pretty rough early levels, start Doran's shield. If he all-ins at similar health you can usually come out on top. Post 6 gap-close with Q and don't use your ultimate until he knocks you away. If he snowballs try to get as much farm as you can and roam using ult, be wary of his tower-taking potential though!
Difficult to kill pre 6 unless he gets overconfident and fights in your minions. If you're going for a kill consider saving your E until he is dismounted if you can, this will stop him from re-mounting as fast and can be the difference between a kill or a death. Post 6 trade heavily if you are near your tower, only be afraid if you are pushed up. Try to get him to dismount while saving your ult and then disengage. When your cooldowns are back up you can burst him without him having a chance to re-mount.
Full Clap Malphite isn't that great into a full-tank Malphite unless you snowball on him early.
With his tankiness h out-trades you and can easily disengage short trades before your press the attack takes effect. After 6 you cannot burst him. If you're stuck in this lane go tank runes or try your best to push lane and roam.
Difficult to get on him pre-6, use your passive shield wisely and try to farm as well as you can. Post 6 there's nothing he can do to stop you clapping him.
She will beat you in level 1 / 2 trades, let her get overconfident and try to keep health topped up using corruption potion. When she all-ins level 3 bait her back to your minion line and clap her. Post 6 it can go either way if even. If she tries to hit her 3rd Q remember that your ult can interrupt it, that's the best time to all in her.
Can't really do much pre 6 apart from try best to farm and avoid harass. Post 6 try to get him to use his blind and then run back for 2 seconds, as soon as you are not blinded use everything on him (given that you're not below ~400hp).
He pretty much can't kill you unless he has help. You have a few windows to kill him before he gets too tanky, at level 3, 6 and when you complete Trinity Force. Try to engage when he uses abilities to waveclear. If you can't kill him look to push up and roam using your ultimate.
His wither is really good against you, try to bait and fall back, re-engaging when it wears off. You have to kill him or deny his farm in lane otherwise he'll be the unstoppable one.
Be slightly careful of his level 1 and 2. After that you should be able to beat him in trades with your W and E. If he dances round in your minions just literally activate W and right click him and go hands free. Post 6 he will look for 3rd Q tornadoes to knock you up and ult. If he's in kill range let him throw a tornado at you and ult through it. It will take him by surprise, you wont be knocked up and it will take him a while to get another tornado.
If this guy is mid lane you'll have follow up on all of your teamfight ultimates. Just be aware that both of your solo lanes will be AD so enemy tanks could be quite effective.
Orianna adds the AP that your team might lack with CLAP MALPHITE. She is a great follow up to your ult and can normally win a teamfight if you land a good Unstoppable Force.
With your CC on Q and R, Lee can hit his skillshot easily and help snowball your lane. 1 or 2 ganks and it's game over for the enemy laner. Make sure you have an AP mid laner or no tanks!
Ganks really well for Malphite, his point and click stun lets you get a few free claps in. When he ults you can keep them in the area using the Unstoppable Force. Make sure you have an AP mid laner or no tanks!
As with all Malphite picks it's recommended as a counter to a heavy AD team but can still work against almost all teamcomps.
Press the Attack
This rune gives so much damage to Malphite's empowered auto attacks and is pretty easy to activate once you've gotten Titanic Hydra alongside the attack speed with Trinity Force and Legend: Alacrity.
Great for surviving close 1v1's and huge teamfights.
Lets you clap enemies faster and is great with Press the Attack.
Coup de Grace
Your upfront burst from Unstoppable Force, Ground Slam and an auto attack will take squishies below 40%, this helps you finish them off with the next couple of auto attacks.
The Ultimate Hat
Malphite is very ultimate reliant so this is a great rune on him. You can consider swapping this for Manaflow Band and maxing Seismic Shard if you have a very rough ranged lane match-up.
With this, Trinity Force and an Abyssal Mask you can get to 40% CDR, putting that all important Unstoppable Force on a low cooldown.
Take into even or good melee match-ups. Gives great sustain and a little bit of damage. Very useful for allowing heavy trades in lane.
Doran's Shield + Health Potion
Take into ranged or bad melee match-ups. Helps negate ranged harass. This in use with your passive shield should let you farm against rough match-ups. The bonus health can help you survive an all in from the likes of Renekton or Darius.
Early Game Items
Rush into melee match-ups. The stats and passive help you in long, extended trades which you want against melee match-ups.
Rush into ranged match-ups. Spellblade helps with short trades you want to be having against ranged match-ups. The additional mana helps with poking using your Q or using spells to last hit if you're having a rough time.
Boots of Speed
Try to fit these in before finishing Trinity force.
Mid Game Items
If you're even or ahead when you get this you should be able to 1v1 anyone if you play it well. Try to space out your abilities when fighting to get the most out of the Spellblade passive.
You definitely want this in your build but if needed you can delay it by one item. Get it after Trinity Force if you're against immobile enemies and you're even or ahead with your lane opponent.
Once you've built it make sure to utilise the active. Make sure your Brutal Strikes is active and use it as an auto attack reset (use it right after you've hit an auto attack). You can do this after hitting someone with your Unstoppable Force and have Press the Attack activate before they hit the ground.
Dead Man's Plate
Get this if you're falling behind and your lane opponent is AD or if the enemy is very slippery and you can't stick to them. The momentum auto attack helps keep them in place for an extra few claps.
I rarely build this second, but if you're against a heavy AP team and are falling behind it is a good buy. Substitute this for Adaptive Helm if against a strong Teemo or Cassiopeia.
Late Game Items
Great if you're a tiny bit of damage away from one taking down their carry in a teamfight. The additional base health gives more damage to your spellblade and the shield will give you time for an extra clap or two.
If you can one shot their carry but then get killed by the rest of them pick this up. You can still get your combo off on them and have your team clean up while your busy reviving.
If you're having trouble against someone like Master Yi or Jinx pick this up.
Strong against champions like Vayne and Jax who rely on auto attacking multiple times. The active helps for keeping them in clap range too.
Good pick up if you didn't grab it before. It caps out your CDR and the MR shred is good for your team and your abilities.
As said before really effective against the likes of Teemo and Cassiopeia.
Take this level 1. Put a few early points in it if you're in a rough ranged match-up. If enemies are very slippery max this second, otherwise max last.
Take this level 3. The bread and butter of Full Clap Malphite. Max first in almost all cases.
Take this level 2. Max either second or last depending on what you're doing with Seismic Shard
Your Ultimate, level this up whenever you can!
Levels 1 - 5
Against Melee Match-Ups
It's quite difficult to force an advantageous trade pre-6 as Malphite. Only initiate if the enemy uses either their escape or their CC on the minions, e.g. Dr. Mundo using Infected Cleaver or Maokai using Bramble Smash.
If you see them do this you have a chance to use your Seismic Shard to steal their movespeed and go for a trade. Activate your Brutal Strikes as you being your auto attacks and only use Ground Slam when they turn to fight.
It is much easier to bait the enemy into taking a bad trade against you. Play passive in the early levels, only poking occasionally with your Seismic Shard while last hitting. When the enemy initiates the trade use Brutal Strikes and Ground Slam to reduce their damage while you clap them. Save your Seismic Shard for when they try to run. You should have activated Press the Attack by now and with practice you'll know if you can chase for a kill.
Against Ranged Match-Ups
Malphite has a pretty rough time against ranged match-ups. Put a couple of points in Seismic Shard early and ask for ganks. Try to poke with Seismic Shard while utilising Granite Shield as much as you can to negate their side of the trade. Mainly focus on farming minions until you hit level 6.
In a 1v1 do not engage with Unstoppable Force unless you can 1 shot the enemy. Instead try to gap-close using Seismic Shard and give them a few claps. When they use their escape or Flash follow them with Unstoppable Force if you think you can get the kill.
