Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Be very careful of his pull, If your E is off cooldown your probably gonna die. (Unless you have Flash)
Nasus
You need to bully Nasus as much as you can from levels 1-3. If you can stop him from getting as many last hits as you can, you will have a decent edge up on him once he gets his Ult.
Aatrox
Aatrox isn't to hard of a matchup, Dodge his Q and W, once those go off CD your free to poke and even push maybe for a kill. Aatrox is very strong early game/mid game so be cautious while your doing this.
Gnar
I doubt if your reading this you play blind pick
Malphite
If Malphite goes AP he can one shot combo you with his ult, try to pressure him as much as you can before level 6. (Dont over extend without vision)
Sett
Sett isn't too bad actually. Bait out his E and then pelt him with everything you have, save E for escaping or confirming the kill to close the gap for his escape.
Fiora
Well what can I say its Fiora, pretty op regardless of who she's against. When she ults try to hug a wall. Will hopefully block 1/4th of the bonus dmg
Dr. Mundo
Mundo can slow lock you to death, and is very tanky. His R will basically reset your last 2 minutes of poking. Ask for a Gank
Yorick
Yorick's minions are no match for your W and do minimal DMG for most of the game.
Kayle
Take full advantage of early game Kayle being weak around lvl 11 tread with caution.
Akali
Shes an Assasin Gnar is squishy without Mega Form try to keep rage in the 90's for when she dives you with her Shuriken.
Illaoi
Illaoi is one of those champs who can destroy you almost no matter who you are, dodge her whip and only get ganks level 1-5. Her ult gets better with more people attacking her.
Cho'Gath
Dodge his Knock Up = Win Lane
Shen
As long as you don't get taunted 2 or 3 times you should be ok.
Vayne
ADC Top Lane always a nightmare. Try to poke her and get CS .Once level 6 E in with Mega Gnar W stun R stun and you'll get the kill.
Renekton
If he dashes towards you E away. His whole combo is denied after that.
Urgot
Your Q is very valuable in this matchup his Shotgun Legs are very lethal. Try to fight him with Mega Form
Riven
Rivens mobility is insane, save your Q and E for when shes trying to escape.
Rumble
Rumbles flamethrower makes it a pain to farm. Try and get him to exhaust all his abilities so he goes into meltdown.
Poppy
Poppy's only real counter to you as Gnar is her E.
Teemo
Honestly Teemo isn't that bad of a match up but hes just not fun to play against and can be really annoying late game.
Mordekaiser
Mord is a enjoyable matchup. He will try to pull you in and then Q. Try to poke and use your W passive as much as you can to speed in and out to dodge his abilities.
Kled
Kled is currently very strong and can apply grievous wounds with his Q try and get out of the rope as fast as you can with your E.
Tryndamere
Tryndamere R = Win
Tahm Kench
Kench Top is quite the monster. His passive gives bonus DMG based on how healthy he is, you need to poke him down to around 40% if you want to have a chance in winning a close range fight. dodge his Q and you will be fine.
Jayce
Jayce is one of those weird picks you don't see often. If you don't know his abilities you'll have a rough time
Garen
Garen just wins almost everything, He has a speed up cc and can silence you, execution and tanky. Play safe
Volibear
Speed up CC like garen. If he W's you make sure it wares off before you go to fight again. His ult can be a problem if you rely on the tower.
Wukong
If they are smart whenever u go Mega Gnar, he will clone away to the tower, try to predict his movement and stun him before he gets there.
Im a nobody, just a Gnar fan and have been playing him since I started this game. Stats or Ranks don't matter to me as they are just numbers, and I'd rather give you more information. Gnar is a really fun champion to play, he can be difficult at first, but after a few games I'm sure you'll really enjoy him. I'm more of a casual player, but this build will still work for all of your Gnar games.
Champ Overview
Gnar, The Missing Link
"Gnar is a primeval yordle whose playful antics can erupt into a toddler's outrage in an instant, transforming him into a massive beast bent on destruction. Frozen in True Ice for millennia, the curious creature broke free and now hops about a changed"-LoL.
Skins
Pros/Cons
Pros
+ Great Laner + 1v5 If Fed Potential + Great in Teamfights + Great in 1v1's + Has Escape Options + Lots of CC
Cons
- No CC Till LVL 6 - Can Easily Be Ganked If E Isn't Unlocked/CD - Needs Rage for CC - Managing Rage Bar - Long CD's - DMG Rely on Passive
Items
Abilities
Abilities
Items
Gnar - Rage Monster Ranged, Melee, Tanky DPS,
Synergy: Great CC and Can Tank Jungler ganking potential: Decent Speciality: Rage Mode
Mythics
TRINITY FORCE
VS
Divine Sunderer
Trinity Force is good for chasing targets and killing semi tanky to squishy champs. If tanks aren't a big issue or you already have a tank buster like Vayne Trundle Take Tri Force.
Divine Sunderer is for fighting tanks and giving yourself more survivability. If the enemy team has 2 or 3 tanks I recommend getting this mythic over Tri Force.
Spells
SUMMONER SPELLS -
FLASH: Flash is usually always equipped, you can use it to close a gap and use Boomerang Throw to slow/confirm a kill.
IGNITE: Incase the enemy has healing like Renekton Darius Aatrox you can bring ignite. Gnar will have a much easier time since they're healing skills do nothing for a few seconds.
TELEPORT: Teleport is usualy what I bring because you can gank other lanes easily, if you die or recall you can return to lane quickly
