GRANDMASTER - Just another Kha'zix midlane main

By Akhi Syhno
About me
Hello everybody reading this guide!

I am Akhi, I started only playing kha'zix in season 5 and to this day I have approximately 1,7mil points on my different accounts on Kha'zix. I've played the lovely bug in the jungle for 3 seasons ( Season 5 to 7 ) and in season 8 I thought that I was tired of jungling and I wanted to try something different and quickly realized that Kha'zix midlane worked.

I started trying out stuff, and right now in season 10, using the best runes I could find I quickly climbed to Grandmaster.
Evolutions

Kha'zix evolutions are very debated in high elo generally, but being one of the only high elo zix midlane main, guess i'll put the rules down:

My evolves are

toto OR

is one of Kha'zix main evolutions, as it might not seem very useful on the lane, when roaming or when doing objectives the extra range and extra cd on Q are extremely helpful. Used correctly on the midlane ( See Tips and Tricks later ) it allows you to take down your enemies.

This is one the least debated kha'zix evolution, it is by far the strongest and the increase in invisibility duration allows you to join fights invisible and surprise your enemies! With great mobility, ( I.E. Teleportation + Homeguard ( Try that, its very fun !) ) you can appear anywhere in the enemies backline just like a rengar! ( But better because you can go invisible again and jump out without bushes ;) )

Take spikes level 16 if you feel like you won't be very useful: Very tanky late game teams against you, that you might wanna poke down with W.

Evolve Leap level 16 if you feel like you can remain useful in late game and you can jump back out without dying.
Tips and Tricks - How to play Midlane as Kha'zix
So the most important part: How does it work?

General Idea

Play around your kit: You have sustain ( W Heal). You have a spell that allows you to farm from afar, and you have your isolation. Try to punish misplacements by enemies by jumping on them and applying isolated Q, W and Auto, this will automatically enable phase rush and will allow you to either chase them down for the kill, or run back to safety.
After every trade you're gonna have to reset passive so you'll have to play around enemy vision to get out of sight!

Early Levels

Taking W level 1 allows you not only to farm against ranged matchup, but it also allows you to win trades against melee matchups: Auto W + Auto enables phase rush, heals you from the enemies first auto. You might wanna try to W minions as well, so you farm + you trade with the enemy.

Trading later is slightly harder: If the enemy misplaces himself; jump on him and punish him. Otherwise, you're gonna have to create this opportunity: this is where the Tiamat is very important. Playing against Kha'zix, enemies feel safe around minions, but caster minion are very squishy: If you do the following combo aiming at the 3 minions if they are stacked: "E - Tiamat - W" you're gonna isolate the enemy laner ( + All those spells are zone damage, so they can be applied on minions + enemy laner) , allowing you to Q and then to follow up with your passive. Then again you can either run away with phase rush or chase the enemy down.

End of Laning phase

Try to roam as much as possible using Waterwalking and help your jungler take vision and catch the enemy jungler. Kha'zix being a jungler in the first place can solo dragon when level 6 ( With Q evolve ) so if you feel like the set up is correct, you can call a dragon or even solo dragon !

My Playstyle

In my opinion, Kha'zix mid spikes when I get the Umbral Glave: Why? I can now apply a pressure that's even greater than my support to take down their vision and take some vision using Zombie Ward. Zombie ward also gives you AD! So you get roughly 500+ gold worth of AD for FREE when you hit 10 wards kill.
This vision pressure allows me to set up objectives or to ensure that I am not seen when trying to assassinate!

General Combo

If nothing is gonna prevent you from failing this combo: then do it :

W -> E -> Tiamat -> Q -> Auto
