Pretty much all extremely close ranged champs will be the same story, and some of these are based purely on speculation since Gwen is brand new.
He doesn't care about your W at all, everything he has to damage you he needs to get inside your W for in the first place. Maybe if you time it well you can dash with W up to get him out of it as he's ulting, but it'd require some split second reactions.
Champion Build Guide
I titled this guide "Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee" because that's how I've had the most success with her. You go in with a stacked or nearly stacked Q, get in some autos and that Q, then back off, rinse and repeat. Even when you do this, she can still struggle in 1v1s, though. She really comes alive during team fights, at least in my experience so far. I don't mean she has good team fight utility, which reminds me, her W doesn't protect her allies when they're inside it, or provide them with any benefits for that matter, only herself. This is good for both you and your teammates to know before they try jumping in to survive a Lux ult.
Gwen is quite frail, and her damage doesn't typically make up for her frailty. She does still deal good damage, however, so you can put in a lot of work when your teammates are able to take attention away from you. For this reason, Gwen will likely fit best on heavy CC teams, specifically CC that prevents the enemies from attacking you, like stuns, charms, and taunts.
