Jax
Jax is one of the hardest matchups. The reason for this is his Counter Strike. It makes him block all incoming Basic Attacks and when reactivated, will stun everyone in range. This means that he will be able to block your main damage from your Tiger Stance, and your stun from Bear Stance. Note that it will still apply the debuff so you won't be able to stun him even after his e goes on cooldown.
Udyr is still stronger than jax in the early game. Play it smart, bait out his E, then run away with bear stance. After it ends you can just run up to him and stun him and just all in from there.
The key to winning this game is building an early lead so make sure to farm up and gank a lot. Jax will out-duel you later in the game.
Introduction
You can check out my stream Here, that i plan to stream on soon :)
Ever since i started playing League in season 6, Udyr has been my go to champion. He was the first jungler i ever played. I started playing ranked on my account in preseason 8, where i achieved Platinum I, Fairly quick. Currently i am sitting in Platinum I Solo/Duo and Daimond V Flex. He is one of the only champions i have had a consistent positive winrate with. Out of my 80 games as Udyr this season, i have managed to maintain a 70% winrate!

Strengths
- Great clear. Building
Tiamat Improves his clear speed even more!
- Incredible early game damage, and dueling power! Makes it easy to invade the enemy jungle early. You can 1v1 almost any champ with no problems.
- Very high mobility!. Once your
Blazing Stampede is maxed you can pretty much outrun any champion in the game! You can spam Bear Stance and
Iron Mantle For increased speed and sheilding. By doing this your
Bridge Between will also get fully stacked.
- Great objective control!. Thanks to your spammable abilities and early game damage, you will be able to solo Drake from Level 3. Later in the game you can also Take Rift Heral very quick. When ahead, you can almost solo Baron. Usually one support or ADC is enough to 2 man it!
- Decent CC with stun. Your stun works in a different way than most champions. When you hit an enemy with
Blazing Stampede you stun the target and apllies a depuff, that makes them invulnerable to the stun for a few seconds. In teamfights this can be very usefull since you will be able to stun their entire team very quick. Its also a good way to shot down priority targets.
- One of the best splitpushers late game! Thanks to the damage from
Sheen and the attack speed from
Wilding Claw and
Bridge Between you will melt towers within seconds!
Udyr indeed has a lot of strengths, but no champions come without weaknesses. And Udyr specefically have one major downside: Crowd Control.
Weaknesses
- Easily kited by champions with high mobility & CC. This is the main reason why Udyr never really is considered Meta in higher elo's. Udyr is a champion that relies on face to face combat, using his massive claws to tear people apart, but because of this, he can be locked down and kited fairly easy. Stuns, slows, knockups, fears, binds, silences, etc. can easily make Udyr pretty much useless in teamfights. This is one of the reasons
Mercury's Treads is almost always bought due the Tenacity it provides.
- Very mana hungry in early stages of the game. All of udyrs abilities cost mana. And to maximise your potential as Udyr, it requires you to spam through your abilities. Building
Tiamat first item instead of
Stalker's Blade also makes you lose the extra mana regen from Stalker's Blade. This is why personally like to build
Hunter's Potion since it makes you generate a lot of mana by clearing camps. This also means you will have healthier and better ganks!
- Weak when behind. Not all games can be perfect. Sometimes the enemy team just plays better and you will quickly find yourself being quite weak. At this point you will find yourself struggeling to make succsesful ganks. The reason for this is you will be quite squishy, and with no damage to back that up, laners can often turn on you and kill you.
Jungle Items

Offensive Items

Defensive Items

When you are on blue side you start: Red - Wolves - Blue.
On the red side you start: Blue - Wolves - Red. After clearing the 3 camps you should be level 3. At this point you can do 2 things. The first choice is to look for a ganking opportunity. If either of their lanes are pushed, you should go for the gank. Note that when taking this jungle path you will always end in the middle of top and midlane. If a gank isn't possible, you should be looking to do rift scuttler, and then a full clear. Rift scuttler is quite an important objective since it provides a lot of vision that prevents ganks and roams.
Udyr is so strong early game so you can easily solo your buff. This is sometimes smart to do if you are looking to invade early. The enemy team will have no idea where you started. If you decide you want to invade his red buff, start Blue - Enemy Red. Make sure to always know where the enemy jungler starts so you know if the buff are up or not. If the enemy jungler is weak early you can choose to hide in the bush afetr stealing his buff.
