Irelia - That Stuck Up B**** You're In Love With

Welcome to my first guide (technically)! It used to be a hybrid build with a hint of survivablity. I've transformed it so that it has become a half melee DPS and half tank. Pretty much what Riot calls a "Bruiser". Irelia is an underplayed champion (in normal, at least) that has an AMAZING skillset. Her Q, Bladesurge, allows her to dash a great distance. It refreshes the cooldown if it kill something, so use it to farm! Her W, Hiten Style, allows Irelia to heal herself every autoattack and adds a fixed number of true damage each attack! If you activate Hiten Style, the true damage doubles. Irelia's E, Equilibrium Strike, is a closed ranged single target skill. If Irelia has higher hp PERCENTAGE than her enemy, then the hit slows them. BUT! If Irelia has LOWER hp PERCENTAGE than the target, the enemy becomes STUNNED. Finally, Irelia's ultimate, Transcendent Blades, shoots four times. Each shot fires where ever your pointer was when you pressed R. It's a great chasing and team fight ability.

Your starting item depends on how you want to play your laning phase. If you think youre going to need extra regen because of harass, get Regrowth Pendant and rush a Philosopher's Stone. If you're playing 1v2 or just want to be more passive, get Doran's Shield. Doran's Blade if you think that extra damage will land you a kill.


Mercury's Treads is GREAT on Irelia. Around 3 enemy champions, she gains 45% CC Reduction. With Mercury's Treads, she has 75%! A 2 second stun would only last about half a second. Trinity Force is easily proc-able with her Bladesurge for that nice nuke. Banshee's Veil is pretty much necessary on all (or most) champions. It gives Irelia a spellshield that blocks one offensive spell every 45 seconds. That means you can easily escape while being chased by one, two, or maybe even three champions.


A still viable option, even though it lost quite a bit of armor. It gives 55 armor, cooldown reduction, and a passive AND active slow! Recommended when against AD teams

The BEST magic resist item out there. It even gives amazing regen and movespeed. Recommended when against AP teams

Gives great HP, a little sprinkle of AD, and a slow every auto-attack!

It gives a nice number of AD, attack speed and removes 15 armor each attack up to 3 times! FACE SMASHER!

AMAZING AD as well as a passive that increases your critical DAMAGE from 200% to 250%!

Wonderful magic resist and an active that removes all debuffs! Recommended for playing against Galio, Rammus, and KARTHUS.

AD, magic resist, and blocks up to 300 magic damage if the attack causes you go go under a specific % of HP. Great against AP teams.

AD, critical chance, armor pen, and a great active!

Summoner spells


Allows your team to have vision on any part of the map for 10 seconds (with the mastery).

Allows you to chase, shutdown, or escape your enemy unless you get slowed or exhausted as well.

Blinks you to your mouse location up to a certain distance. You can chase and escape with this.

Could be useful

Tower being BD'd by an annoying Yi? TELEPORTING TELEPORTING TELEPORTING FAT..WOMAN...THATS NOT screw you guys! /rwj

Use it to chase/escape.

Useful early game where you can run out of mana quite fast.

Removes most debuffs, but with 75% CC reduction around 3 champions, you wont need it.

I'll hit you so hard your grandchildren from the future will feel it.

Summoner Level 10 or under only, please.

Promote isn't in the game anymore so no point.

Not jungling, sailor!

Save it for the tank/support!

Greater Mark of Desolation

Typical ranged AD carry runes. Provides a nice boost of Armor Penetration.

Attack speed runes. Provides extra attack speed so you can hit the enemy a bit faster and heal faster with Hiten Style.

Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration

Mana regeneration per level runes. Keeps the mana pool at a good number late game, where that 1 mana could save your life or a teammate's life.

Greater Seal of Armor

Flat armor runes. Provides increased defense early game where the deaths do count.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction

Cooldown per level runes. Allows you to use tumble more. That 1 second could also save your life or a teammate's life.

Greater Quintessence of Health

Flat health quintessences. Provides extra health early game where deaths do count.

Greater Quintessence of Desolation
Armor penetration quintessences. Provides that extra punch early and mid game.

Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed
Attack speed quintessences. Harmonizes with Hiten Style so you can heal a bit faster.
