Masteries

You want the 21 in the offense and 9 in the defense because you want to play aggressively but not TOO aggressive so that you get don't first blooded for no reason at all. In the defense tree I take health, armor and mr. None in utility because those masteries are more for helping yourself defensively and as I said before we are not going for that.

Color-Coding

Most people would say that this guide has too much color( I would too). But I thought it would make it easier to understand some of the things I explain. Here are some examples:

Orange: These are usually the tips that I give in the tips and tricks section. If I mention them somewhere else I put them as Orange.

Green: The good things that you should do. Like the first blood tactic or the teamfight engaging.

Red: What you shouldn't do. Like getting greedy and etc.

Blue: Usually the intro or some things that I like to emphasize like the fact that evoltuions make Kha'Zix special.

Grey: There needed to be some contrast in the color so I just put that in.

Runes

These are the runes you would mostly take with any champion that you choose to go with whether it's top or mid or even adc. Standard ad marks and quints for the early game damage, the defensive seals and glyphs for the defense. Sometimes you may want to change your runes up depending on what works best for you but for Kha'Zix I think this is the way to go.

Skill Explanation

- Unseen Threat (Passive)
When Kha'Zix is not visible to the enemy team, he gains Unseen Threat. Unseen Threat causes his next basic attack against an enemy champion to deal 15 / 20 / 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 / 85 / 95 / 110 / 125 / 140 / 150 / 160 / 170 / 180 / 190 (+ 50% AP) bonus magic damage and slow by 25% for 2 seconds. Unseen Threat lasts until consumed and has no internal cooldown.
This is a VERY good passive that goes very well in your kit. It complements your ultimate very nicely as well as it gives you an easy way to get first blood (explained later) AND it gives you free damage every time you go in a brush. So be sure to weave in and out of bushes to get extra damage.
- Taste Their Fear (Q)
Range: 325 (375 with Evolved Enlarged Claws) Cooldown: 3.5 Cost: 25 mana
Passive: Kha'Zix marks enemies that are isolated from their allies.
Active: Deals 70/100/130/160/190 (+150% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage. If the target is isolated, the damage is increased by 45%.
Evolved Enlarged Claws (Q)
Increases range of Taste Their Fear and autoattacks by 50. Additionally, Taste Their Fear now deals an additional 8% of the target's missing health as bonus damage (max 200 vs monsters). Against isolated targets this damage is increased by 45% to 11.6% of missing health.
This is your bread and butter skill. In a level 1 fight without any minions this would wreck the enemy top laner. Even in invades, doing dragon, or even baron this skill would help. Although the damage is capped at 200 vs minions and monsters it still hurts and it's at a 4 second cooldown. With evolved claws it does even MORE damage. This is a very strong skill and you want to max it first.
- Void Spike (W)
Range: 1000 Cooldown: 8 Cost: 55/60/65/70/75 mana
Fires exploding spikes, dealing 75/115/155/195/235 (+100% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to all nearby enemies and slowing them for 20% for 2 seconds. Heals Kha'Zix for 40/70/100/130/160 (+50% Ability Power) if he is within the explosion radius.

- Evolved Spike Racks (W)
Void Spike fires three spikes in a cone.
This skill used to be OP as heck. I really don't like that they nerfed it down to the ground like diana but they still did need to nerf it because of the immense wave clear it gave in mid lane. Without the ability to cast w mid-leap, or proc passive with it has put this skill down to the second max and the last evolution.
- Leap (E)
Range: 600 (900 with Evolved Wings) Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14 Cost: 50 mana
Leaps to a target area, dealing 65/100/135/170/205 (+80% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage.

- Evolved Wings (E)
Increases Leap's range by 300 and causes kills and assists to refresh Leap's cooldown.
This is what makes you an assassin. This what lets you jump in and out of fights. Basically this is a tristana leap without a slow. This is what lets you assassinate someone quickly and get out, get your cooldowns back and jump in again. This gets maxed last because damage isn't that great and evolved second for higher utility.
- Void Assault (R)
Cooldown: 100/90/80 Cost: 100 mana
Passive: Each rank of Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his abilities, granting it an additional effect.
Active: Kha'Zix enters stealth for 1 second, gaining 40% bonus movement speed while stealthed. Leaving enemy vision grants Unseen Threat. Void Assault can be cast a second time within 10 seconds at no cost.

- Void Assault (R)
Cooldown: 100/90/80 Cost: 100 mana
Passive: Each rank of Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his abilities, granting it an additional effect.
Active: Kha'Zix enters stealth for 1 second, gaining 40% bonus movement speed while stealthed. Leaving enemy vision grants Unseen Threat. Void Assault can be cast a second time within 10 seconds at no cost.
This is a pretty nice ult as far as ults go. It gives you a reset on your passive twice which gives you TWO slows for chasing, it gives you movement speed for chasing, it gives you invisibility TWICE and if you evolve this you get all of these things not twice but THREE times which is amazing PLUS you get 50% reduced damage while in stealth.

Skill Sequence

This is the best skill sequence for Kha'Zix because this is how you can get maximum damage out with Kha'Zix. You should start Q first because in a level one fight before the minions spawn THIS is what will get you first blood and snowball you. And a top lane that is fed is a game won. You want to max q then w then e finally. But evolutions go a bit differently.

Evolution

Evolving is what makes Kha'Zix special. His evolution makes his skills stronger by addding damage to it. Kha'Zix used to evolve w first but with the nerf that all changed. Now you evolve q first for the isolated damage. After q you want to evolve e for the utility. Finally you want to evolve your r. This is the best order because around level 11 teamfights start happening and you need your e to assassinate and then get out. Without e after you kill them it won't reset and therefore you will die. Lastly you want to evolve you ult so that you can have the 50% damage reduction plus the THREE stealths so that you can maximize your damage using your passive procs. Some people may argue that w is still better to evolve. This is not the case because evolving w does not give you the benefits evolving q does. Your w is pretty much useless except for the heal it gives. Evolving it would just be a waste of an evolution.

Ravenous Hydra vs Muramana vs Bloodthirster

- Bloodthirster
Bloodthirster used to be a massive item on Kha'Zix because of the ad it gave him. But 30 ad out of the 100 is stacks that you get by farming. And because of the play style for Kha'Zix dying is a absolute NO. So, if you die with bloodthirster you lose a massive part of your ad. Which is NOT good.
- Muramana
Muramana also used to be an amazing item on Kha'Zix but now muramana is a pretty bad item on him. It takes up to about 20 min to stack a muramana and true it does give you the on hit effect damage but it is simply not good compared to the other better items for Kha'Zix.


- Ravenous Hydra
This item is amazing on Kha'Zix. It gives you 75 flat ad plus 12% life steal AND an active that is basically a free auto for 100 more gold than BT. Just getting the tiamat in lane increases your trade potential by a HUGE amount. Getting a free auto every trade is actually really huge. Your tiamat actually gives you life steal on your active damage too. Let's do some math. Say you are level 10 and you just got a tiamat. You go into a trade where the target is isolated. If the enemy has 1000 hp this is how much damage you do. Your flat ad right now is 120 AD. You e in doing 65 plus 0.8 scaling so you do 96 so you do 161 damage. Then you w doing flat 155 damage. With the scaling you do 120 so in total it is 275 damage. Then you q doing flat 276 damage. 2.2 scaling gives you 264 damage. In total that does 540. Now scaling in the percent health damage the target is missing about 400 hp subtracting 35 for armor. So 12% of 400 is 48. 540 plus 48 is 600 damage. This in itself would be enough to kill them. But say your ignite is down and you can't auto because you just did and it didn't reset yet. Don't worry you have tiamat activate is doing 120 damage. And that is a kill for you. Even without applying your passive or ignite. Without even flashing. If you were about to add in you passive damage you would do 95 more damage. That brings you to a total of 600 + 540+ 95 = 1235 damage in about a 2 second trade. That is pretty massive. If you take out the tiamat you lose a full 120 damage. The tiamat adds on a lot of damage.

Itemization

After all that math let's take a bit of a break and lets go back to easy pictures and a bit of words. You can have many different starts.
If against heavy ad start:
+ x5

If you need sustain, recommended start (this is the most likely the best start):
+ + sight ward

If against sustaining champions start:
+ x5 + sight ward +

If confident abut lane start:

If AP or need to dodge skillshots start:
+ x4

If you want damage and sustain start:
+ x2

Early first blood:
+ x3

There are plenty of mid game items you can have. I cannot list them all so you will have to go with the items above. However, I can give you some tips. Your itemization is going to depend solely on the enemy team , your team and how you want to build your champion. If the enemy team has heavy AD you might want randuins, guardian angel or frozen mallet. If they have heavy AP then you should probably get spirit visage, or guardian angel. Keep in mind that you should NOT stack the defensive items because you are NOT the tank. You should go glass cannon and your last 1 or 2 items should be defensive as shown above. Late game when you are full build you will wreck the enemy team because a Kha'Zix played properly late game is devastating and can turn around games.

Early Game

Kha'Zix early game is actually REALLY strong. Like I did in my last guide I am going to give another surefire way to get first blood. For this to work you have to be on PURPLE side. You want to spawn in buy your items and go over to the brush that leads to top through the river. After the enemy leashes if they are smart they will walk around but if they are not then they will try to take the short-cut and try to get to lane faster. but little do they no a blue bug is waiting for them to kill them. If they do this I guarantee you a first blood or at least a flash. Once you can see them you want to walk out and auto them applying your passive. Quickly q and they will get destroyed (because they are isolated). Then you want to go back into the brush so you can get your passive back. You passive slows them so you have a double slow on them. At this time they will try to flash or if they are stupid try to fight you. If they flash, you want to flash after them, ignite, auto and then finally q them one last time. This will ensure you a kill. you may need to add some autos but if they have about 550 health you will for sure get a kill. Kha'Zix has pretty good sustain and harass in lane. Basically every time they walk up to cs you want to q them, if they are isolated you get even more damage. You might also want to auto to apply your passive for more damage. Occasionally dip in bushes to refresh your passive. If the wave is about to clear you want to kill the last minion then e onto them, w them, auto then q. This will do about 300 damage. Then just walk away. They cannot retaliate because then they will get minion aggro onto them. Your w gets you hp too. W a large wave of minions and you get about 300 hp back. Kha'Zix gets away from ganks fairly easily. Just run back a bit and when they to CC you just e away. If you are not sure of your abilities as Kha'Zix yet then you want to play safe and farm and then ask for a gank and try to get ahead in your lane.

Mid Game

There are a lot of tips and tricks to Kha'Zix. Mid game is when teamfights start breaking out and objectives like dragon and baron start getting targeted. You should have your q and e evolved, have the enemy turret in top and should start roaming. A good thing to remember is when you use your ult your passive gets refreshed. So remember to auto between your ults. Another tip is to remember to NEVER use your e to do damage but use it to get in and out of fights. There will be a list of tips and tricks in the next section so don't worry about that for now. What you want to don in mid game is that you want assassinate like you are meant to do. You should have a black cleaver, a ravenous hydra and level 2 boots. You should have about 140 cs around 20 min. This is standard but in LCS and such they hit 120 and around 12 min. You can aim for that if you want. You want to look for when the adc or ap carry goes to get blue or red and wreck them. Your combo to kill is very simple yet very complicated because it can change. You usually use this: e > w > auto > q > ult > auto > ult > q > auto > ult > ignite > e out. That is all. Your last e is to get out. You can add some extra autos too. Now in team fight it is a totally different situation. The minute you jump in you will get CCed and get destroyed. So, you have to let your team engage if they have a good initiate (nocturne, lee sin) and their team will get split up. The minute you see that red marker showing isolation on an enemy you jump like it's a double cheeseburger. You jump on them and if you have smart cast you should be able to take them out in 2 secs or less. Nest, depending on how the teamfight goes you should jump out or take out the next main damage source (adc or apc). Here is a bid misconception in the league community. It is that you HAVE to focus the adc. That is not true at ALL. You focus whoever is in your face. You have to go through the tanks then you get to the adc. You don't just jump in the middle of their enemy team and get decimated. However, what you do not want to do is, try killing one person then before they die go to someone else and keep on going because that will get you killed. Another bad thing to do is focus on one person only when you r team is dying. You need to kill the main people but not the people that are way at the back doing nothing. This is confusing but as you play you will learn to understand the concept.

Late Game

I should just type gg and leave it. But of course I'm not going to do that. If you have been doing decently and csing decently and you have decent items then your teamfight should be astronomic. Your q alone now does about 1000 damage. That is absolutely INSANE. Of course they have to be isolated though. You could probably 2 shot their support ( q + auto) and 3 shot the adc and the apc. That just leaves the tank and jungler. This should be an easy clean up for your team. Objectives are really easy to get with Kha'Zix because his isolated q does a lot of damage on them. Drag and baron go down VERY fast due tot his fact. Basically once you've assassinated two people on the enemy team it's GG and you also secure yourself something else.

Getting Pentas

Getting pentas with late game Kha'Zix is actually quite easy. This is what is mentioned above. You get yourself a penta. And it's not even hard. Take out two people and then your q does so much damage that you will most likely kill the others too. You want to repeatedly jump and q and ult repeatedly and burst down as fast as you can (smart cast recommended) and decimate every last one of them. However do not be greedy. Do not go for someone low if you know you will get killed right away because it is simply not worth it as you can kill much more people that one if you are alive instead of dead. Maybe you will be the last one to take down the last turret which is why you shouldn't dive like you have planets for balls.

Tips and Tricks

As I mentioned above there are many tips and tricks with Kha'Zix. I will try to mention as much of them as I can:

The Passive Proc: Auto between ults to reset your passive, walk between brushes when fighting to get your passive.

Minion harass: When the enemy champion tries to cs you want to harass with q for free damage as they cannot retaliate.

Pressure: When you push the opponent out of lane you want to push the lane to the turret before you go back so that you can deny as much cs and gold as possible.

Proxy: Once you push the wave up to the turret, to deny even more cs you can kill the next wave of minions that come.

Proxy kill: Once you clear the second wave, you can try to hide in the brush between the first and second turrets and when they come up all in them. You can get a kill or blow a flash. But if it goes bad and you get ganked you may die so I don't always recommend this.

Camp clear: Kill the small minions first when clearing camps to get maximum damage on the big one.

Leap: Never use e for damage but for utility. You don't even max it so it does little damage anyway.

Roam: After pushing you lane up you can also roam towards mid and try to take out the midlaner or the jungler.

Invade: Invading as Kha'Zix is really strong because your q and auto alone take like half of their hp and then your team can pick them off.

Level 2: If you think they have a better level 1 do not wait in the brush but instead farm as much as possible and get level 2 then try to jump on them. This will do a lot of damage but will not ensure a kill.

Teleport: Sometimes you can take teleport and if their bot lane is pushed up you can teleport to a ward and double kill them. This will ensure your snowballing but you might lose your turret.

Turret csing: When csing under turret you can kill the melee minions after two tower hits but you need to auto the acstor minions then let the tower hit them and then you can kill them.

Conclusion

All in all, I can say one thing. Kha'Zix is an amazing champion if he's used correctly. He is also extremely fun to play. I hope this guide helps you understand how to play Kha'Zix and get better at playing him.
