Welcome to the jungle! I am Corvux from LAN and I have found Maokai a very fun champion to play. Besides, he is a nice tank that have an incredible CC. If you want to survive in the jungle you have to adapt yourself.

Top 5 Maokai Pros:

PROS:

1. High Sustain with Sap Magic
2. Free Vision with Sapling Toss
3. Perfect to engage.
4. Powerful ganks thanks to slow and stun effects.
5. Nature's Grasp can change the whole situation in one sec.

Mandatory if you are the jungler. Now we are pointing to the Chilling Smite . Why? This makes an excellent synergy with Cheap Shot rune and it's the best one for Maokai ganks.

This is the most useful spell. For better positioning in teamfights, good ganks by dodging something, for escaping and nice tricks.

OK, let's start with the basics, the first 3 levels, we need Sapling Toss to clean jungle fast and get free vision, throw it in the brushes to make some extra damage. Then Bramble Smash to make a good amount of damage while you slow the target and knock him back. And at last but not least Twisted Advance to ensure kills, it's perfect to stun on ganks and avoid tarjet to run.

Here we want we max out Bramble Smash to get the full potential first by reducing his cooldown to 5 sec. Also we will do more dmg and target will be slowed up to 99% for 0.25 sec, beautiful!
Then we max Sapling Toss so Maokai can get a better jungle control by throwing saplings in all brushes every time you can. And finally max Twisted Advance it's perfect for ganks and have a very nice combo with Flash if the enemy champion is to far.
Of course, don't forget to raise Nature's Grasp everytime you can!

Maokai the growing root!

1. Start with Sapling Toss and go to the Crimson Raptor Camp, if somebody help you, then start with Red Buff but don't use your Smite, safe it if you need to fight for the Rift Scuttler.

2. At lvl 2 raise Bramble Smash and then run to the other camp Red Buff or Crimson Raptor, the one that is left.

3. Now head to the Rift Scuttler and use your Smite on it. You should be full of heal now again, so look for potential close line ganks. Remember: It's not about the kill, it's about to create an opportunity for your liners to get a good chance of farming better. If the enemy use Flash and/or have to go back it's perfect!

4. At lvl 3 raise Twisted Advance then go to the other Rift Scuttler to get some vision and heal, also try to reach lvl 4 by getting Greater Murk Wolf camp, Blue Buff and Gromp.

5. Now you should have $1400 in your pocket and at least lvl 4. Look for a potential gank if you want and go back after that or go back immediately to buy your first back items!

RESOLVE

AFTERSHOCK: For 2.5 sec. will create a powerfull combo thans to Maokai abilities Sapling Toss, Bramble Smash, Twisted Advance and Nature's Grasp that have a lot of slow and stun effects. That create excelent oportunities to iniciate a team fight and tank as much as you can with some extra CC.

FONT OF LIFE: It get's activated by rooting someone, all Maokai abilities stun or slow enemies, and allies can heal for by attacking those immobilized enemies. The heal even synergizes with Revitalize.

CONDITIONING: Maokai have to be close to the enemy champions all the time and will need dual resist. The 8 bonus armor and MR, it also increases our total armor and MR by 5%. Get ready to engage!

REVITALIZE: This rune have a big combo synergy with Font of Life rune and Maokai passive Sap Magic. Creating a massive healing effect, that provides a lot of sustain on team fights.

DOMINATION

CHEAP SHOT: All Maokai abilities have synergy with this rune and the Chilling Smite will make a lot of extra damage too.

RELENTLESS HUNTER: Maokai is a slow champion, and with this rune he can move around the map and engage much better.
