Heyyyy! My name is ColdQ. Welcome to my Samira Guide. I started playing around season 10/11 and I've reached 200 lp master. League was my first moba so I had a lot to learn about the game, and today I will try to share some of my knowledge that can help you with the game and more specifically with Samira.

I know that Samira can look intimitading to play because of her style points, but I hope that after this guide you realise that learning her is really worth it. This guide will not only teach you the basics, but also help you with: tips and tricks on how to play in early/mid/late game, the matchups, the items and also just the general mentality you should have when playing samira.

This is my first guide so any feedback is always appreciated !

So all that being said, let's jump right into it.

- Needs support with synergy
- Short range for an adc
- Lockdown makes it hard to play
  • Conqueror: is a must have for Samira. The STACKING MECHANISM of the runestone synergises really well with samira's kit that also needs to stack her abilities. On top of that, the LIFESTEAL it brings comes in helpfull and lastly it's also really good for SUSTAINED FIGHTS
  • Triumph
  • Triumph: This runes stone is also a must in my opnion. It gives you 20 extra gold per kill and restores 10% missing hp. The amount of times this has saved my life is uncountable. It rewards her AGGRESIVE PLAYSTYLE and allows you to have MORE SURVIVABILITY
  • Legend: Bloodline
  • Legend: Bloodline: This rune is really good to get some EXTRA LIFESTEAL on samira. The other options are: Legend: Alacrity, whichs gives u extra attack speed which isn't that good on samira, or Legend: Tenacity which isn't worth it just because the stats aren't that valuable ( if u need extra tenacity you can take in your secondary path, see later)
  • Last stand
  • Last Stand: This is a MUST HAVE! It bascially makes you do MORE DMG IF UR ON LOWER HP(capped at 30%). As you may know, samira is usually in the heat of the battle, resulting in her always being low hp when she does her combo. That is why this rune is just perfect for her
  • Sudden impact
  • Sudden Impact: This rune gives u some BONUS LETHALITY after using a dash. In my opinion Sudden Impact is an amazing rune when fighting with an engage support where you will be able to all in on enemy botlane. However, if ur playing vs an heavy poke matchup then Taste of Blood is also a viable option.

daredevil impulse INNATE - STYLE: Damaging basic attacks and abilities against at least one enemy champion different from the previous damaging hit made against champions grants Samira a Style stack for 6 seconds, stacking up to 6 times. The duration refreshes on subsequent damaging attacks and abilities against enemy champions. The stack count is represented by the grades to the left of her health bar for Samira herself, and a stack counter underneath the bar that is visible to all players.

Samira gains 0% − 21% (based on Style grade) bonus movement speed.

INNATE: Samira's basic attacks against targets in 200 range use her blade, becoming non-projectile Basic attacks with the blade and Blade Whirl, Wild Rush, and the slash and explosives of Flair Flair deal 2 − 19 (based on level) (+ 7.5% bonus AD) bonus magic damage, increased by 0% − 100% (based on target's missing health).

Additionally, Samira's basic attacks against immobilized enemies deal the attack's damage over 6 strikes in 0.5 seconds and knock them up for 0.5 seconds if the target is a monster or is an enemy champion or minion that is airborne. This causes her basic attack timer to reset and the attack to become unstoppable. If the target is not within attack range, Samira will quickly dash into it from a certain distance, though not through terrain, and then attack. This effect cannot occur on the same target more than once every few seconds.[/color]

FlairSamira fires a shot in the target direction that deals physical damage to the first enemy hit.

If a targetable enemy is in front of Samira at the time of cast, she will instead slash with her blade in a cone, dealing the same damage to enemies hit.

If Flair is cast during Wild Rush Wild Rush, Samira deploys explosives in her wake that detonate upon the end of the dash, dealing the same damage to enemies hit.

Blade Whirl Samira spins her blade over 0.75 seconds, destroying all hostile non-Turret projectiles within the area for the duration.

Samira slashes twice during Blade Whirl, each one dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies. The first slash occurs immediately and the second one occurs after the duration.

Samira cannot attack nor cast Flair Flair during Blade Whirl. Casting Inferno Trigger Inferno Trigger will end Blade Whirl early.

Wild Rush dashes a fixed distance in the direction of the target enemy or enemy Turret icon structure, dealing magic damage to enemies she passes through. She also gains Attack speed icon bonus attack speed for 3 seconds

Scoring a Damage rating takedown against an enemy Champion icon champion within 3 seconds of damaging them resets Wild Rush's Cooldown cooldown.

Flair Flair and Inferno Trigger Inferno Trigger can be cast during the dash. Casting Blade Whirl Blade Whirl will buffer it to cast at the end of the dash.

Inferno Trigger Samira unleashes a torrent of shots for 2.277 seconds, reducing her movement speed by 30% and rapidly shooting at nearby enemies over 2 seconds at sporadic times in 0.2-second intervals each, dealing physical damage with each shot, reduced by 75% against Minion icon minions.

Let's go over some combo/mechanics that you should know about

E + Q

It's a simple yet very effective combo. When you dash to an enemy, use ur Flair while dashing. This will leave a trail that explodes on the ground and damages enemies. This allows you to use your Q wihout losing the time of the animation

You can add Flash to this combo too which gives u this:

It's a VERY good way to catch ur opponent off guard when they're low hp on lane


This is ur bread and butter. You auto attack (or use your passive) on an enemy champion, then E + Q on them, into another auto attack into W. This will look something like this: AA -> E+Q -> AA -> W -> AA -> R


Now this is a bit situational, but I think it's important to get the hand of it. You can get your combo really fast By doing the following combo AA -> W -> E+Q -> W2 -> AA

Note: It's easy to mess this combo up and then you're in the middle of the fight without CD, so only use this ones you get a bit better at samira. The only tip I can give is make sure to stand close enough for your first W to hit, and then dash In a way so that your second W hits as well

What to look out for during ult

When using ur Inferno Trigger It's important to pay attention to the following 2 things. Firstly you want to make sure that if you get a Takedown on an enemy champion, that you use your E during your ult to re-position and deal extra damage( you can even do the E+Q combo if ur Q is available for HUGE damage)

Secondly, sometimes even after ur ult the enemy might still be alive, if u see that this will be the case, you can buffer an auto attack by right clicking on the enemy during ur ult, so that as soon as ur Inferno Trigger is finished, you instantly attack them

Buffer Q -> AA

This one might seem like a minor aspect of samira, but it's important to understand this. So when Samira uses Q, she can then immediately auto attack after. This is really good for last hitting or when an enemy is running at you and you want to get extra style points

note: However, as u can see in the video: you can only do the Q-> aa combo, if you didn't auto attack right before ur Q. Otherwise it's the normal attack speed

Using Wild Rush to escape

You can use Wild Rush to Dash over walls. Very good to get away of trick situations (you do need vision in order to dash)

Explaining all the matchups is a bit complicated to do over text, but I will post a video soon which can help you with the matchups. However, there are some important idea's to keep in mind. Let's go over them:

LVL 1-3

Samira level 1 is really weak, especially when u start Flair. So what I like to do, is get prio on the first wave. This essentially means that you want to push the first wave, so that when the second waves arrives, you get your level 2 before the enemy. This prevents the enemy from abusing Samira weak level 1.

You also want to focus on staying high hp, if you are able to stay above 70% hp until level 3 then congrats, you are now able to all in 90% of every matchup (assuming you have an engage support)


I see so many people who just start Samira trade off 20% of their hp just to last hit 1 minion. That is never worth it. You need to realise that samira wants to all in. She wins most duels if it's a full all in. Poke champs in the contrary, do the opposite, they want to poke you down till you have no hp left to stay in lane.

So with that in mind, you need to guard ur hp as much as possible.


This kinda relates to the first point, but patience is SUPER important. [Samira] is all about waiting for the right moment then unleashing ur damage. If your support engages at the wrong moment (when ur a level behind for example) then don't feel forced to commit to his mistake. Make sure that you stay in the game. I can't count how many times I lost games because of following bad calls from teammates

Power spike

Once you get Serrated Dirk, you are very strong. This is the ideal moment to engage on the enemy botlane.

(This isn't related to laning phase, but ur second powerspike is after u have The Collector + Infinity Edge + Cloak of Agility, it gives u 55% Crit with insane dmg)


- Before engaging in a team fight, ensure that you are in a favorable position. Stay behind your frontline and avoid getting caught out of position.
- Look for opportunities to access priority targets like enemy carries or squishy champions.

Tracking Heavy cc

So this is really important, before fighting you should look at the enemy team and try to see which champion can easely cancel ur ultimate. For example, if u play vs a Janna, then her ult, can instantly cancel ur ult. So sometimes it's better to wait for her to ult, then directly use your Inferno Trigger afterwards


So I have 2 important things to say about Flash

1) Flash on Samirais very strong. A fight with or without flash is a whole world of difference. If possible, try to keep ur flash for major teamfights ( like drake or baron)

2) When trying to dive the enemy backline, it's important to keep track of the enemy Flash, if you know they have it, then u need to be more carefull when engaging.

For reference, Flash cooldown is 5 minutes, unless they have Cosmic Insight, then it's 225 seconds or a little bit below 4 minutes.

DISCLAIMER : This part of the guide is more my subjective opinion on how to carry in soloQ

Use your teammates as shield

I do not trust teammates, and i'm sure that you've experienced those type of games where your teammates just refuse to win. That's why I will ALWAYS use my teammate to bait out enemy abilities. Then afterwards i'll swoop in and clean up

Very effective if you want to solo carry your games !

Limit testing

So this might seem counter productive, but you need to limit test as much as possible and try to go to ur limits. You might int some games by dying and losing ur lead, but understanding the true potential of Samira, is what makes her so strong.

Once you understand everything that you can do with her, you will be able to win more games.

ZORO the bounty hunter

Whenever the enemy team has a memeber with a 700 gold shutdown, your mission is to claim that bounty. 1000 gold on Samira makes a HUGE difference.

Get that gold, no matter the cost.


Last but not least, it is important to realise that samira is a strong champion late game. She isn't the best because of her short range, but outside of that, her damage and life steal late game are really insane.

I say this because I remember when I started playing samira, I always felt this pressure to get kills early otherwise I would fall off. But i'm here to tell you, that it's better to be patient and wait for the right time. So don't feel pressured into needing a lead early, instead play smart and collected and you'll win a lot more games ;)
