Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Warwick is pretty easy to duel early, ignite is effective against him. However watch out for his passive, he can follow you while invis.
Elise
Another pretty easy matchup, you can block her cocoon if you place w at the right time.
Evelynn
She can't really kill you unless she gets her charm off but you should always be ready with a box. Watch out for her lvl 6 though.
Graves
This is one of the harder matchups. Positioning is everything here. Do not fight him pre-6 as he will detroy you. Do not chase graves, only take fights with him if you get the jump on him and are ahead.
Hecarim
Fairly moderate matchups, he will usually run away from you so no point in chasing him. Just try to predict where he will gank or just gank another lane.
Ivern
lol
Jax
You can cheese an invade on jax pretty easily if you ward his jg. Jax usually use their counterstrike on camps and he isn't strong until 6 so you can easily kill him with ignite. However watch out for a skilled jax. They know how to reengage and play around your boxes. Lvl 6 is a skill matchup, if you play around his E successfully then its an easy win. Don't fight late game though.
Kayn
Kayn is very weak early so you can push him around. If he goes darkin then he becomes harder to deal with, just try to avoid a 1v1, if he gets the real shaco you're most likely dead. Shadow assasin is easier to deal with, a lot more squishy and can most likely dodge his w q with your R.
Kha'Zix
Trickier matchup, his q does a lot of damage, if you dodge his w and get backstabs plus good box placement then you win.
Kindred
He will pretty much just kite you to hell, try to get help if you plan to duel him. After 6 save your q for the end of his ult.
Lee Sin
if you block his q with your box then you win. After 6 you can dodge his E or ult damage so you should win.
Master Yi
Early game you should be able to duel Yi as he is pretty weak without items and you have ignite. After 6 if probably your best bet but in the latest stages of the game try to avoid 1v1s he could probably melt you and your clone.
Nidalee
You can dodge most of her damage with your ult and can block q with good box placement.
Nocturne
Avoid fighting pre 6 as his fear will pretty much insta win him the duel.
Nunu & Willump
Probably one of Shaco's most annoying matchups. His R kills your chances of assassinating their carries and is an all around annoyance. Focus on ganking lanes and if you see him invade you, invade the other side.
Olaf
Early game is a toss up, save your q for escape because olaf does a lot of early game damage. Don't try to fight him just focus on ganking or farming.
Pantheon
Pre 6 just don't fight him. After 6 however it's a free fight, you can dodge his stun and e with your q.
Rammus
Annoying. invade his camps is your best bet to get him behind.
Rek'Sai
Another annoying matchups. Avoid fighting pre 6. Post 6 you can most likely fight her just watch out for her un burrow.
Rengar
Really easy matchup, use your ult to dodge his. Pre 6 just place your box on top of you so he can't jump.
Sejuani
Just invade her camps. Gank on opposite sides her cc gives her an edge in a 2v2.
Shyvana
Another pretty hard matchup for me. Can't really invade her because she clears too fast and can't really duel her pre 6.
Skarner
Don't fight around his passive. Gank on other side of map, 2v2 are hard with his cc and shields.
Taliyah
She will kite you to hell so don't even try pre 6. Post 6 if you dodge her w you can get a flash or kill easy though.
Trundle
You can;t really duel him at all, his ult and lifesteal are just a bit too much so avoid 1v1s.
Udyr
Can't at all 1v1 pre 6. Even post 6 if he stuns the right Shaco your probably dead so watch out.
Vi
Moderate match up. You can win if you dodge her cc.
Xin Zhao
Pre 6 this is all Xin so just avoid him unless you see him low.
Hey, I'm a Shaco onetrick in Plat. My accounts are Kitty Delivery and Sir Omi. I started playing Shaco around last year and quickly climbed from Silver to Plat with him. This guide is essentially what i think when i play Shaco and what items I usually take and in what situations. LMK if you have any tips as well, i'm always willing to learn and improve!
Runes
Runes
Now Runes are tricky on Shaco, a lot work. The two main keystones Shaco takes are Dark harvest and Electrocute. I take electrocute in this meta because it gives Shaco more early game power. Dark harvest is still fine, it just takes a lot longer to get online. I take either precision or sorcery second tree. I like transcendence and scorch on Shaco because of the AD transcendence gives because my build gives a lot of cdr and scorch because of the little bit of extra damage it gives. Precision can also work, it offers faster clears and compliments Shaco's already high base attack speed. You should take alacrity and coup de grace if you do decide precision.
Standard Shaco
Standard Shaco
Shaco is one of the most item dependent champs in the game so the items you pick are very important. Shaco can go multiple build paths which is why I love him. However Trinity is almost always a must have. It is Shaco's strongest item. When to build it is up to you but it is usually my second or first item. Okay, i start with a hunter's machete and Rejuv bead. I start Rejuv bead because it builds into tiamat and you don't really need refillable as Shaco. I usually buy Mobi boots after i get a Dirk for easy gank and map pressure. My first complete item is Duskblade, it gives a lot of early game power with your clone. Second item is Trinity force. Like i said Trinity force is Shaco's best friend. It gives so many stats that are good on Shaco. Youmuus gives a lot of movespeed with Mobi boots so it is always a nice buy on Shaco. Guardian Angel is also really nice because of the passive which allows you to dive the backline and then be able to Q away to safety. I usually finish my hydra or sell it for another AD items like death dance or edge of night. At this point though any item should be able to kill their carries if you are ahead. Now IF the team has a lot of CC or is heavy AP then switch some items out for Maw and get some Merc Treads.
Tanky Shaco
Tanky Shaco
Now This is a recent build i've been testing. I found a pretty good success with it so here it goes. First, RUNES: Yes, i go either fleeting footwork or press the attack. Electrocute can also work but i've been finding more success with precision tree for some reason. You start the game off like standard Shaco and go the normal jg routes. However after tiamat you go cinderhulk/Redsmite. Red smite is really good for dueling. Next go Trinity force because again, it is Shaco's best item. Now the next item obviously depends on the enemy team. IF they are heavy MR go Merc treads and get an either early Maw Or Spirit visage. IF you are ahead just get a Maw but if your team has loads of damage get a Spirit. Next either go thornmail or deadmans. If they have like a auto attack heavy champs then thornmail is probably your best bet.
Early game Shaco
Early game Shaco
Despite what people think, Shaco has a pretty weak early game. His lvl 1 Q is only 1.5 seconds and his e is pretty much a liability. RED SIDE: If you start red side of the map then i start red buff then ward their blue. This way while i'm doing scuttle I can see if I can cheese their blue buff or an early kill on them. If i take their blue and block them from their top side then i will also take gromp and scuttle. I then go to my blue and take bottom scuttle so i deny two scuttles. BLUE SIDE: I also start red but don't go for their blue because they probably start that side. I go do wolves-Blue to scuttle OR do scuttle first if i suspect they will try to get an early scuttle. Boxes are good for scuttles, use your box to ZONE and vision on their enemy jgler when taking scuttle. Look for ganks lvl 4 when your q is rank 2.
Mid to Late
Mid to Late
In mid game, if you didn't fall behind you should be pretty strong. Duskblade Trinity damage is very high with your clone and you should be able to 1v1 pretty much anyone. Shove sidelanes to try and get carries to farm those waves. You should have a red trinket by now so sweep for vision. In team fights what you wanna do is go in and place boxes around the area you believe a team fight can occur. Try to get on their carries but if you cannot then run away and try to clean up when fights are over. Try to get carries out of the fight, if your team is even, it's worth for you to give your life for a carry.
Late game is kinda difficult. Here you really need to kill a carry or at least take him out the fight. You can't really frontline so look for flank positions with your oracle lens.
Summary
Summary
Overall, the world is your oyster with Shaco. You can go tanky, bruiser or assasin with Shaco. I plan on trying to hit diamond this season with Shaco and will update the guide if i discover something new. Give me feedback and tips if you feel like you can make me or the guide better at Shaco. Peace <3
