Hey there guys my name is angata500 more widely known as Axxell Blaze and this is my diamond guide to Skarner, the Crystal Vanguard. I've been playing league for 6 years so far and have mained adc since season 5. Pros & Cons

+ Super tanky
+ Tons of CC
+ Insane map pressure
+ Good for catching people off(insane speed)
+ Safe Jungler(you can only get invaded early)
+ Easy to play

- Poor dragon/baron control
- Organized teams will protect their carries from your ult
- Very reliant on team for damage(unless playing with damage build)
- Easily invadable due to low damage and low tankiness early
- Ultimate is easy to counter ( Quicksilver Sash)
- Early mana issues

Well Predator is the best one here because Skarner is pretty much a melee champion as he has to get really close to his enemies in order to be effective and not get kited. So here is when Predator comes into play in a very effective way - speed boost is insane so really helps out in teamfights and especially when it comes to ganking . You should really take this into consideration and do what Skarner is best at - gank as much as possible and try to feed your carries.

This one is a pretty basic choice since Skarner has a really consistent crowd control. The 2.5% from Cheap Shot may not seem like much but it actually helps a lot especially in skirmishes considering that you can proc it inbetween a few seconds . If you like to play aggresively and counter jungle a lot this mastery will be a carry for you.
Zombie Ward

Eyeball Collection
Eyeball Collection is pretty good right now - will give you an extra AD permanently on takedowns and even increases with ward kills which makes it a solid choice. The other two masteries are both good options but this kind of depends on you as a player and your play style. If you care more about vision you can choose Zombie Ward as I feel is better than Ghost Poro but if you care more about clearing faster and killing people , counterjungling or playing aggresive in general than Eyeball Collection is the thing for you.

Okay guys I will suggest two options here . Both are super viable. You can go for Relentless Hunter as I feel is a little bit better cos abuse one of Skarner's biggest strenghts - his map presence . The bonus out of combat movement speed is super helpful and combined with your passive - Crystal Spires can legit may seem broken as you can probably roam around the whole map for about 30-40 seconds . That guys is absolutely insane for ganking . And the second option would be Ingenious Hunter because it will reduce the Cooldown of active items such as you Predator and Turbo Chemtank by a decent amount which again helps super much with ganking and catching people off guard.

Celerity is honestly the best thing you can get on Skarner right now because you stack so many movement speed items on him that the 8% bonus movement speed on all of them ( Predator, Turbo Chemtank, Crystal Spires,and Crystalline Exoskeleton) with be huge and will really make a difference. Waterwalking is also a solid choice because nowadays Skuttle has become a thing to fight for because it provides plenty of extra gold and vision so the bonus movement speed and damage from Waterwalking are sure to help you win that fight. But not just that it is also great for securing objectives faster and improves the success of your ganks.

Crystal Spires (Passive):
Skarner's presence causes crystals to spawn in set locations around the map. While near crystals his team owns, Skarner gains tremendous movement speed, attack speed, and mana regeneration.

Well not much to explain here really guys. It is super important that you have taken control over the crystals at your part of the jungle as they will help you so so much with clearing faster and having more map pressure. Taking control over the crystals at the river is also pretty helpful as they will make your ganks more succesful but don't go for them if the enemy jungler is fed .

Crystal Slash (Q):
Skarner lashes out with his claws, dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies and charging himself with Crystal Energy for several seconds if a unit is struck. If he casts Crystal Slash again while powered by Crystal Energy, he deals bonus magic damage
Skarner deals 80% bonus Attack Damage physical damage to all nearby enemies. If a unit is struck, he charges himself with Crystal Energy for 4 seconds.

The description is really boring so I am just gonna cut it here. All you need to know is that Crystal Slash is your main damage ability so if you are going to play damage Skarner max it first and really if you build Trinity Force and just spam this it gets pretty insane :D - you clear the jungle so damn fast , can actually burst the adc like its nothing and opens so much jungle possibilities so you might really want to try the damage option. You should also know that once you cast [Crystal Slash] you become struck (empowered) for a few seconds meaning that if you cast it again it will deal considerably more damage than it did on the first cast so use it as frequently as possible for maximum damage output .
Crystalline Exoskeleton (W):
Explanation: Skarner gains a shield and has increased Movement Speed while the shield persists.

Skarner is shielded for 0 (10/11/12/13/14% of his maximum health) (+80% Ability Power) damage for 6 seconds. While the shield persists, Skarner gains movement speed that ramps up to 16/20/24/28/32% over 3 seconds.

Usage:Well first of all you should keep in mind that the more health you have the bigger your shield from Crystalline Exoskeleton is that is actually why i prefer the tank build over the damage build for Skarner. Always use it before jumping in the fight or doing a gank not only for the extra movement speed but to soak in the initial damage as well. Needless to say that it helps super much when it comes to taking objectives as you barely lose any hp which provides you with even more map pressure and possibily for ganks.
Fracture (E):
Explanation:Skarner summons a blast of crystalline energy which deals damage to enemies struck and slows them. Basic attacking these enemies within a short window will stun them.

Passive: Crystallizing enemies with Fracture and Impale grants Crystal Charge for the disable duration and reduces the cooldown of Fracture by the same amount.

Usage: Pretty much your most useful ability . If your aim is to make your ganks more succesful definately max it first as the slow is really worth it. In comboes always start with Fracture then follow with auto then use your Crystal Slash auto and lastly you Crystalline Exoskeleton.
Impale (R):
Explanation:Skarner suppresses an enemy champion for 1.75 seconds, dealing 60% Attack Damage physical damage plus 20/60/100 (+50% Ability Power) magic damage. Skarner can move freely during this time, and will drag his helpless victim around with him. When the effect ends, Skarner's target will be dealt the same damage again.

Usage: The main usage is catching people off guard with it and dragging them to your team for the kill - always aim for the enemy adc or midlaner(whoever is more fed if possible). Try combining it with flash for more unpredictability and success rate when needed. This is what makes Skarner such a valuable pick - you can use your insane movement speed along with Impale to catch basically anything even under turret and drag it to your team for a killing blow which makes your ganks insane and it even makes you a super op pick in skirmishes.

To sum up Skarner is one of my favourite junglers as he is super fun to play and pretty viable as well . So with this guide I hope you learn how to play Skarner as well as you want to .
