Threats & Synergies
No problem against this, you outrange him and he is easy to kite.
Can be quite tricky, but if you play well she is an easy catch as soon as you have some tankyness, just slam her out of the shroud against the wall!
The key here is kite, but his Q can cancel your jump and then his true dmg might be able to take you down on early levels. The more experienced you get with Gnar the lower the threat is.
Darius is just really hard to 1v1. His grab range is just about your attack range and if he gets your mid jump you can just say bye. Try to avoid this matchup since even armor wont save you.
He is hard to kill and his Q will deal more and more dmg since you will stack a lot of hp. But he is nothing more than target practice.
Early game you can be taken down. But when you have 2-3 items there is no way she can kill you. Still dangerous though.
Really easy outkite. After spirit visage his ult won't hurt you, just try not to get silenced and poke him as much as you can. Be a real bully.
Irelia will always be irelia. Even though your health stacking counters her true damage, she will still be able to take you down. Just try to poke and try not to die, get a kill when you get the oppertunity.
Can be outkited, it is pretty much an even matchup where you rely on poking him.
His early damage is tricky and he is ranged aswell so you can not always poke him, but in mega gnar you can take him down. Be patient here.
Kite. Kite. Kite. Kill
Kite. Kite. Kite. Kill
Try to stop him from farming by killing him, lategame you have too much armor for him to kill you so you are pretty comfortable here.
Kite him and late game he does not have enough dmg to hurt you.
Don't be caught offguard against his damage, but after a few matchups against him you will know the drill.
She is really annoying, in your mega gnar she will deal more dmg and your combo burst will be halfed against her. She is really just... Ugh. Try to kite when you can.
Beware of his early spikes, but after that he just wont be able to kill you.
Riven is really strong, try to avoid the matchup but if she picks it against you be safe and do not feed her! You will have to see when you can 1v1 her but that moment should come probably mid building triforce.
Easy poking, just do not stand in his ult.
Poke him and try not to be poked back.
Again, poke and kite, he should not be able to touch you.
His E spam (35 mana costs) is just dumb. You might just get poked down and you cant even kill him. If you get an edge your max hp dmg helps you though.
In mega gnar he wont have the dmg to hurt you but early game he can be such a teemoo. Try to burst him at 6
He wont be able to touch you, you can really easily outkite him, just make sure he won't steal your stats lategame.
Watch out! After your jump he can still get you, early game he can chop you down and eat you for dinner, if that happens you won't be able to touch him for the rest of the game, if you get in this matchup be safe and copy your riven tactics.
Try to outkite him and turnaround at the right moment to surprise him. Look for run-and-gun trades and dont fight him for too long in a go.
This will be a farm lane, after your spirit you can try to do something, but it will just be boring.
Kite, kite, kite.
Early game he might take you down, but if you kite correctly you will survive and even make monkeysoup, late game he won't have enough dmg to kill you.
Yorick is really hard. You can kite him but he will probably ignore it. If you get more and more experienced against him you might just win it will jungle assistance, consider a thornmail.
When Vi builds full AD she will probably kill you in a split second when you are minignar. Her W also allows to deal more dmg to you when you are in a megagnar. Use the fact that you do not have mana to just poke her down and call down the jungler for an easy kill. This will be a hard matchup but eventually you will outscale her.
16/1 Added the Zz'Rot Portal item.
12/2 Added Vi to the potential enemies, updated early game due to nerfs.
28/2 Changed Sions threat level.
I am Scrublord Brian from Runeterra Ravens, and I will keep it short in the Chapter parts since a lot is already explained in the notes. So i will not do a chapter on Items, Runes and masteries, I will just talk a bit about playstyles and a chapter why you go Tank gnar.
Just take it from me that tank Gnar is for now the best Gnar.
When your enemy gets low you got 2 options. If your Rage Gene is still off you can Hop / Crunch onto - over him to cut off his escape and you will kill him with W and Q. However if your Rage Gene is almost there you will Hop / Crunch on a minion in front of him and immediately GNAR! your enemy back, or against a wall. Follow it up quickly by Hyper / Wallop and Boomerang Throw / Boulder Toss. From there on it is similar to Olaf chasing. You throw your Q and pick it up, keep cc'ing and eventually you will kill your target.
- If your jungler is top, they can do dragon.
- A kill on bot or mid is much more valuable than a kill on toplane
- You will probably already bait a jungler to your lane, so it is even easier for your jungler to be around dragon.
- Even if you lose lane, you will be valuable as a tank lategame, if one of your carries loses lane, then you have a bigger problem.
- My favorite toplane is a complete 1v1 toplane. Since Gnar has a lot of killing potential if you outplay your enemy, you will 99% of the time win lane.
- Really, if your jungler is seen top, your enemies have 1001 possible counterplays on another part of the map.
