+ Very Bursty + Fast Wave Clear + Allows many plays to be made + Solid Guarantee escape + Top 5 Dueler + Death Mark + Dat Voice though |
He has a pretty damn sexy voice. We all have to admit that. He is obviously very bursty due to him being able to destroy squishy opponents in seconds. Second, with his Q and his E, it can completely clear 1 lane in about 2 seconds. Third, his ![]() ![]() |
Cons
|
-Low Health -Squishy -Made for 1 target kill -Can't solo carry -No W, no escape |
Zed will probably have 2000 health at level 18. Very low considering tanks will have double Zed's. Furthermore, he is very squishy. You will probably not build any armor so other assassins can take you down fast too. Zed can only take down 1 champion at a time. He obviously can't solo carry since he can only kill 1 target at a time. Finally, his W is the only escape (not including flash) |

// Whenever Zed autoattacks an enemy below 50% health, he deals an additional 6 / 8 / 10% of their maximum health as magic damage. This effect cannot occur on the same target more than once every 10 seconds.
// You can use this ability to push lanes very hard. It takes effect on minions too, which allows you to last hit it in early game when the minions have about quarter of their health left. However, try not to do that because you want to freeze your lane (perfect last hitting). It can also be used on champions, but I don't really feel that it is very useful for in team fights.

// Active: Zed and his shadows throw their shurikens, each dealing physical damage to the first enemy they pass through and a lesser amount to enemies thereafter. Living Shadow: Additional shurikens striking the same enemy deal 50% damage and restore energy.
// This is your main damager. You should try to spam this as much as possible since it only costs energy. Q can also be used for wave clears and can be effectively used in team fights. This is also very effective against other ADs to harass them and just farm safely.

// Passive: Zed's bonus attack damage is increased by a percentage. Active: Zed's shadow dashes forward, remaining in place for 4 seconds. Reactivating this ability will cause Zed to switch positions with this shadow. Zed's shadow will mimic his basic abilities. If both strike the same target Zed regains some energy. Energy can only be restored once per mimicked ability.
// This is your escape and should be used wisely. In lane, you can also use this to constantly harass in lane by using W then quickly using E and Q. Remember that it deals extra damage when the Q and the E is hit by the shadow and you. You should also remember that by using W again, it switches place with the shadow. It can be used to escape, harass, and dodge enemies skills.

// Active: Zed and his shadows create a burst of shadow, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies. Zed's slash reduces the cooldown of Living Shadow by 2 seconds for each enemy champion struck. His shadows' slashes slow enemies for 1.5 seconds. Living Shadow: Overlapping Shadow Slashes striking the same enemy deal no additional damage but will incur an increased slow and restore energy.
// This is your AOE, allowing huge flexibility to

// Active: Zed becomes untargetable and dashes to target enemy champion. Upon arrival, he marks the target for death and spawns a living shadow at his starting position. This shadow lasts 6 seconds and mimics Zed's abilities. Reactivating Death Mark will cause Zed to switch positions with this shadow. After 3 seconds, the mark will detonate, dealing physical damage equal to 100% of Zed's attack damage plus a percentage of all magic and physical damage dealt to the target by Zed and his shadows while the mark was active.
// This skill is what makes Zed, Zed. It allows you to dodge basically anything while you are gone for about 1 second. For example, you can dodge Fizz's ult or Malphite's ult. This can also deal INSANE amount of damage. If you use

There are a couple of combos you can perform with Zed. Here are a few:

The Raper Combo:

Shadow Slash again, if CD is down.

Your main objective is to farm as much as possible before mid game starts. Farm is vital for Zed as he needs to rush cutlass AND brutalizer. As a mid laner, YOU should always be the highest leveled champion out of your team composition. If your level is lower or same as the ADC, that means you failed your job.
If you got killed by the enemy mid laner during the laning phase, don't try to start trading. If they were able to kill you once, they can kill you twice. If you dumbly trade, you will die again, feeding the enemy mid laner AND falling off the game.
Your weakest level is level 1. I feel that Zed's
Razor Shuriken is dependent on
Living Shadow and
Shadow Slash. If the enemy mid laner tries to trade with you, just back off because you will probably lose. The second you hit level 2, this is where you come across two paths:
Living Shadow or
Shadow Slash. I tend to get
Shadow Slash first because enemies tend to be especially aggressive and tries to trade with me a lot. However, if you want to play extra safely, you can get
Living Shadow first.
In level 3, you get your 3rd ability, which is a cue saying that it is time that you role. If you think that the enemy jungler won't gank you, use your
Razor Shuriken,
Living Shadow, and
Shadow Slash to rip through the enemy's health. If everything hit them, they should have about 1/4th or more of the health down. Rinse and repeat!
The second you hit level 6, you should look for a kill. Hopefully, you have dealt enough damage during the time before you hit level 6, that they have lower than half of their health. You shouldn't have gone back yet unless you got a kill. You don't have your cutlass right now so what do you do?
Death Mark -> Ignite ->
Shadow Slash ->
Razor Shuriken -> AA. That should be enough to get a kill. Do not perform this unless they have lower than 3/4th of their health.

This is when you have to prioritize 1 champion. Before you go on killing just a random champion ask your self these questions:
1. How much health does that champion have?
If they have low health, do not even bother using
Death Mark on them
2. Do you have enough skills to kill that champion?
Do you have
Death Mark? Can you use
Blade of the Ruined King,
Ignite,
Shadow Slash, or
Razor Shuriken?
Death Mark is your main assassination attack. If it is not on, retreat back. Are the other skills on to support your
Death Mark?
3. Are you fed/not fed/underfed?
If you are fed, you should be able to destroy anyone with your
Death Mark. If you are underfed, wait until the champion your are prioritizing to have lower than 3/4th of the health. If you are underfed, just KS or try to at least get an assist (lol).
4. Do they have
Quicksilver Sash or
Zhonya's Hourglass?
If they have
Quicksilver Sash or
Zhonya's Hourglass, especially, try to prioritize someone else because they will probably use it if you attack them.
5. Can someone else on your team kill that champion?
This is the most important question. If you are the only one who can kill that champion, do it right away. However, if you think someone else can kill that person, you are wasting
Death Mark so don't do that. But what do you do when there are 2 champions that your team can't kill and they are both equally important? ADC>Mid-laner>Top-laner/Jungler>Support
6. How many champions are around the target?
You can fail an assassination if there are too many body guards around the target. If you
Death Mark a target with 4 champions around, you are probably going to get bursted down before you can burst someone else down.
2 or less champions around = safe!
3 or less champions around = dangerous
4 or less champions around = Impossible

Zed is an amazing champion and you should try him out. He is very well worth the money as he feels like a true assassin. Although he may be hard to control in the beginning, you can become an expert through this guide. However, that doesn't mean this is the ONLY way. Some people have their own way of controlling Zed and that's cool with me.
