My amumu guide is currently in a very rough draft. I will finish up after my summer class ends.

This amumu guide focuses solely on amumu mechanics. It will not cover general jungling mechanics.

Amumu needs extra armor to have a healthy first clear. The jungle camps only deal physical damage. This is why I raise 3 points into Hardiness and start with 22 armor from runes.

This is the build that maximizes your magic damage and makes you super tanky. You wont die because you will kill everyone before they can damage you. Take the distortion enchantment because it allows you to get more game changing flash ults. If it gets to super late game you can sell the machete for a Lich Bane/ Liandry's Torment/ Abyssal Mask for more damage.

Start with Tantrum Despair Bandage Toss for your first clear. This will save you time and hp. Max e first for faster jungle clears and q next for more burst and a lower cooldown. Despair should be raised last since it does %hp. It will be more useful after the tanks have built more hp.

Bandage Toss has 1100 range but that doesn't mean it should be used from 1100 units away. Using it from a closer distance will give opponents less time to react. The amount of time opponents have to react can be calculated given the following:
t = reaction time in seconds
v = projectile speed of bandage = 1800 units/second
d = distance in league of legends units
t = d/v

Often times when you run at an enemy he will try to juke by sidestepping. If he sidesteps and you continue to walk in a straight path the distance between you and the enemy will decrease. Try holding off on using bandage toss until you are guaranteed to land it. Sometimes enemies will flash away without you even throwing bandage toss.

When you have a sufficient amount of AP start looking for picks. Land a Bandage Toss, then auto attack and use Despair and Tantrum to damage the guy. If bandage toss misses wait for it to be off cooldown. Bandage toss is Amumu's main source of damage.

Fun Fact: Given an Amumu with 500AP and an Annie with 500AP, Amumu's Bandage Toss will deal more damage than Annie's Disintegrate.

Amumu can be hard to kill in duels because of his stuns and Zhonya's Hourglass. Late game you can use Bandage Toss, Curse of the Sad Mummy, [zhonya's hourglass]], and then Bandage Toss again. You won't take much damage because the enemy will be stunned or you will be in stasis for 5.5 seconds. In 1 more second Bandage Toss will come back off cooldown and usually this combo will be enough to kill anyone.

The fastest and healthiest way to clear the jungle is to focus the big monsters first with the exception of the krugs. Since your bandage toss is the only single target spell you have, use it on the big monster/krugs to clear faster. Also use it to cover distance and travel across the jungle faster. This will decrease your clear times and make you C9 Meteos. The wolves, Golems, and Wraiths all have staggered positions. This means that there will be an angle at which the big monster sticks out more and can be hit by your Bandage Toss without being bodyblocked by a smaller monster.

When fighting dragon by yourself its best to start with an auto attack, then use Despair and Tantrum. The reason why you don't start with Bandage Toss is because the dragon will knock you back after he takes aggro. Use Bandage Toss to get back within melee range of the dragon. This will make you kill dragon 1 second faster and you will become C9 Meteos if you do this.

Amumu has less base mana than ALL traditional mid laners.
When your mid laner asks for blue you take it for yourself. Here's a list of reasons why.

Your mid laner is 0/3 at 7 minutes.
Your mid laner has 19cs at 7 minutes
Your mid laner doesn't use mana.
Your mid laner rushed a tear.
Your mid laner has a flask.
Your mid laner rushed a chalice.
Your mid laner rushed morellonomicon.
Your mid laner is Annie.
You need blue buff to hit 6.

There are two ways to lock down an opponent. Either land a hook and then ult or ult and then land a hook. You can guarantee that your bandage toss will land if you walk up to the opponent and stun them with your ult first. Always wait half a second before casting your next stun so you don't overlap your cc.

When you utilize the fog of war it makes your Bandage Toss very hard to dodge. Enemies will have less time to react.

Sometimes enemies will try to dodge your Bandage Toss by walking behind a line of minions. Use smite to clear a path through the minions and land a hook through the line. In this picture my smite didn't do enough damage to kill the minions but I still get style points for trying.


After the 20 minute mark everyone groups mid. You can get good picks/engages from the fog of war by throwing your bandage toss through the raptor camp. There is a sweet spot that you need to stand on to toss your bandage toss without hitting a raptor. Here is a video of how to do it.
