Introduction

Hi fellow summoners! My name is Taz. I have been playing Zed for a year now and I had learned quite a lot with him. I know I'm not the best Zed, however,I am pretty decent and I know all the basics and quite a few tricks. So lets get into it! Also, this guide is ONLY mid lane. Not jungle, top, or even adc!

Spells

I take ignite and flash.
Ignite for the early burst to pick up kills in lane.
Flash to escape ganks or any enemy attacks. Sometimes used for tricks.

Pros / Cons

PROS

-Lots of burst.
-Can pick up kills after 6.
-Lot of poke.
-Able to one-shot early game.
-Can kill most squishy targets.

CONS

-Very squishy if build is full damage
-Loses a lot of lane pressure without his w.
-His w has a long cooldown early game.
-Can't do much in a teamfight if ult and w is on cooldown.
-His ult only does damage to one person and no one else.

Laning Phase

The laning phase with Zed isn't to hard but does require you to be smart while playing.
If you are against melee champions take your e second. If they try to auto you or come at you for a bit of damage, use your e and then auto for a nice trade. If you want to proc thunderlords afterward use your q.
However, if you are against a mage it is safe to take your w second so you can poke from a distance. Zed's main combo is w e q. If you land every single ability you proc thunderlords and can dish out a lot of damage on the enemy.
After 6, you can use your ult when they are low to finish them off. Push in the lane and either recall to buy items or roam bot lane to see if you can pick up kills.

Mid Game

This is the time when Zed is the strongest depending on how your laning phase went. If you picked up a few kills in lane you will be really strong and you can one-shot any of the squishies. Just roam around and help your team and take objectives. Make sure you ward the river and take control so that the enemy won't be able to walk down it without getting attacked by you or your teamates.

Teamfight

This is when it becomes a harder for Zed. Your ult only targets one person, how will it help in a teamfight? Well the best thing a Zed can do is to flank the enemy lines or come from the side. What a Zed should do is wait in somewhere close. Once you see a few summoner spells and cc abilities used in the fight you should go in. Target the most threatening enemy. It could be a fighter or an adc. What you should do is that if you come from the side throw out your shadow into the middle of everyone and e q and hit as many as you can. If you think its safe switch with your shadow and proceed to ult the most threatening member of the enemy team. Even if you don't kill them you will do enough to take them out of the fight. As Zed never come from the front lines because it gives them complete vision of you and can cc you. Come in with a surprise so they don't have enough time to react when you kill their adc. Your ult is really good escape because you can switch back.

Combos

1. Basic Poke Combo
Throw out your shadow to the side of an enemy and e to slow. Then hit both of your shurikens to proc thunderlords.
2. Shadow 6
When you are one to two minions before hitting 6 throw out your w for the basic combo. Then right after you hit 6 switch with your shadow and ult them. This gives a big surprise for the enemy if they aren't paying attention. This can be only done once throughout the game.
3. Escape
If you are surrounded by enemies. Ult one of them and then shadow away into a different direction. Start running. Once they start chasing you switch back to your ultimates shadow and run the other way. Clean escape.

Conclusion

All in all, this is a simple guide for Zed. Hopefully it will help you guys to play better as Zed. Future updates to this guide will come soon. I will record tricks and outplays to put in this guide so look forward to that! Thank you for reading my guide!
