Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 9.3!

This patch contains the biggest changes of the year so far, with major updates to all the critical strike items as well as a few other Marksman item changes. Some of the most dominant picks in the professional scene like Aatrox, Akali, Cassiopeia and Irelia have also received changes intended to lower their reliability and overall power.

In addition to the champion and item changes, this patch includes tweaks to the gold bounty system intended to punish losing players less for farming back up after a deficit. The loading screen also has a few new features, including new loading bar and the ability to click on a player's card to view more information about them. Balance Changes

Item Changes

Reintroduced as a component item! 800 gold, 20% crit chance. Reverted to a critical damage boosting item. No longer doubles crit chance or converts crits to true damage. Increases crit damage by 25%. Also grants 10 more AD. No longer grants Essence Flare passive. Now includes critical strike chance and refunds more mana. Also grants less AD and is more expensive.
New item that provides AD, HP and CDR. Passive grants attack speed and reduces basic ability cooldowns on basic attack after casting your ultimate. No longer grants AS and a free critical strike on first attack. Now empowers other Energize items and slows enemies hit by energized attacks. No longer provides damage reduction against the last champion attacked. Now has a Lifeline passive that shields you when you drop below 30% health. Spectral Waltz triggers on basic attack rather than champion proximity. Attack speed, cost and critical strike chance lowered.
Cost decreased from 800g to 600g. Cost decreased from 1300g to 1200g Cost decreased from 2800g to 2600g. Crit chance lowered by 5%.

Stats increased from 10 AD (+ 10% armor penetration) to 20 AD (+ 20% armor penetration). Lord Dominik's Regards and Mortal Reminder also gained 5 AD.


Other Changes

  • Minion and Monster Gold Bounties

    • If you die with less minion and monster gold than the enemy team's average, you'll respawn with a buffer equal to the difference. You won't start accruing a minion and monster gold bounty until you've used up the buffer.

  • Loading Screen Update

    • Ranked borders now dynamically update to reflect your current rank

    • Load-in progress is now tracked via a single bar at the bottom of the screen

    • Clicking a player's card in the loading screen now flips it to show additional info:
      • Teammates: Champion mastery, honor, and ranked armor or level border depending on which they've chosen to display

      • Opponents: Champion mastery and honor

  • Bugfixes

    • LeBlanc's Q - Sigil of Malice and Mimic'd Q - Sigil of Malice mark is no longer consumed when E -

    • Ethereal Chains, Mimic'd E - Ethereal Chains, or Mimic'd Q - Sigil of Malice would proc the mark but are blocked by a spell shield

    • Relic Shield no longer reports twice the amount of gold generated from Spoils of War in the post-game screen

    • Base Aatrox can once again toggle his banner wings

    • Firecracker Vayne Prestige Edition's E - Condemn projectile color has been slightly changed to disambiguate it from her R - Final Hour basic attacks

    • Nightbringer Yasuo's R - Last Breath voiceover has been restored

    • Choosing a new background for your profile once again immediately updates it rather than requiring you to tab out and tab back into your profile

That akali nerfs are one of the best things riot ever did. I just wanna hug the person who had that ideas. XD

Jhin and Gangplank stacking 4 Infinity Edges is back.

Yasuo with the new Phantom Dancer is borderline OP.

Vayne has a shield now.

But the vast majority of champions got destroyed with the crit changes.

I tend to categorize nerfs, buffs and adjustments based on the actual changes and not overall power shifts. Irelia's changes buff her in some ways and nerf her in others. Even if it's an overall nerf, I think that's more for the players to decide.

Tbh I probably could have put Aatrox in adjustments as well. I debated where to put both of them but I ended up putting them in the categories that seemed most intuitive.

AD scaling on passive increased, passive gives 10% more attack speed, gained 10 HP per level for a total of 170 HP, and 30 more Q damage to minions early game which means even more dashing around.

It is a rebalancing.
