haha, if you want to. hes a melee champion so you're gonna have to build some defense on him anyway, a frozen heart would synergize well.

rune wise i wonder if it would be more beneficial to use a mage rune page rather than melee? using magic pen and runes of clarity/replenishment with anything as blues seeing as most of his abilities have an ap ratio. Though being vastly AS reliant for cooldowns the ARP runepage (especially for jungling) would work better. meh who knows.

Problem with a mage rune page is that you won't be able to use the mana/5 because you tend to need defense seals to jungle. I'm gonna go with Evasion (dodge rules, plus Nimbleness is a baller mastery), with Ar Pen marks and CDR glyphs (although that depends on if CDR is necessary with an attack speed build).

Although all his skills scale off AP, his damage will be mostly AD since Q is AD (with bonus AP damage) and he'll be auto-attacking constantly to refresh the skills. At least until late game if you've built AP tank.

Then again, you could go for AS runes which would give you a pretty hefty damage boost (since AS = CDR = Damage) early game and scale into late.

From a theorycrafting point of view, Skarner is a very well designed champion. Very, very flexible, it will be fun working out the best builds with him

Wraith Route:
Runes
  • AS Marks
  • Armor Seals
  • Flat AP glyphs
  • APen Quints

Masteries
1/14/15

Skill Order
E Q Q W Q R

Route
  1. Buy a vamp scepter and start at Wratih camp. Smite big wraith
  2. Move on to wolves. Focus the big wolf and level Q immediately upon killing it.
  3. Twin golems next. Smite one. Recall after camp
  4. Buy cloth armor and two HP potions
  5. Kill blue golem, smite should come off cooldown right when he hits ~600 hp
  6. Continue through the camps using potions as necessary


Blue Route
Same runes/masteries/skill order
  1. Buy cloth armor and five HP pots and start at Blue. Smite to kill
  2. Continue through the jungle popping a potion at each camp
  3. Be sure to kill Elder Lizard AFTER twin golems. Smite won't be up before.


Full item build in both cases would be:
Wriggle's Lantern
Mercury's Treads/ Sorcerer's Shoes/ Berserker's Greaves
Trinity Force
Hextech Gunblade
Sunfire Aegis/ Banshee's Veil/defense item
Rylai's Crystal Scepter.

How is it weird? I've seen similar routes work with cho and trundle. This wraith start gets you to level 5 at 5:30-5:40 depending on mana efficiency.

Trundle with that setup is just flat out DUMB.

Cho is a very odd jungler that might be good off with that setup.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think Skarner should be jungled that way.
Google has a job title called "Head of Black Community Engagement"..
I don't know whether to cry or laugh.. or both.

Could you at least try it out before putting it down? Go into a custom game and run it. You'll go through easy, and have a good amount of health the whole way through.

Oh god just noticed a mistake. I haven't been using HP quints, been using armor pen >.>.

Hmm i havent tried this, but i could imagine something like this could work but no idea really.

EDIT: It is for a solo top gameplay, but i could imagine it be used to jungle if you replace the rageblade with a wriggle's

Here's the exact rune and mastery setup:

Runes
Masteries

Attack Speed for his passive + faster jungle, armor for protection, Armor pen for obvious reasons, and AP because I didn't know what else to use. The AP provides a small amount of extra damage in the jungle, and I didn't notice much difference between them and AS glyphs.

I'm still confused as to why it's a bad setup, especially considering no reason has been given other than "That's dumb".
