Great guide. I like the build. I was skeptical of getting AS runes at first because from ki strike's description, it sounded like it only reduced the cooldown when you hit champions but not when you hit minions. After reading your guide I payed closer attention in the jungle and realized you do get the reduced cooldown from minions too. Don't know if I'm the only one who was confused by this or not, but it might be worth mentioning.

Also, I appreciate all the extra good info in the guide: general ganking info, how to gank specific chars, list of specific opponent jungle match-ups, jungle mob timers, etc. Good stuff!

Heya, finally here to review :)

Masteries:
- The section looks weird. Accidentally centred text?

Items:
- You may want to consider using columns, or the float tool for the icons.

Never ever list:
- Kinda funny, but you probably shouldn't even mention these items.

Great guide, apparently I've already +Scouted this :)

In-depth guide. Covers all bases with good justification on unorthodox choices. Nice work.

Hello! I'm here from Jhoi's review shop to review your guide (pretty obvious huh.). For my review, I'd like a comment on my guide, and a +rep if you want.

Cheat Sheet:

You don't need the second cheat sheet. There is literally only one difference, one item. Just list some sample builds in your items section, and you will achieve the same effect.

Intro:

Move the picture to the very top, it would make it look a lot nicer.

Masteries:

Oh my lord. That is long. I know from your other responses, you like explaining the ones you don't use, but you have so much text in there, it's like running a marathon to read through it and still be interested.

Runes:

If they aren't even useable in your mind, don't list them. This includes Greater Mark of Armor, Greater Mark of Precision, Greater Seal of Defense, Greater Seal of Endurance, Greater Glyph of Attack Speed, and Greater Quintessence of Endurance.

AD Marks, ArPen marks and Quints are all viable on Shen.

You could use a little more coding to improve the aesthetics of this section.

Summoner Spells:

List the best options up top, and separate them from the other viable choices. From your cheat sheets, you have Exhaust and Flash as your 2 summoners other than Smite, yet you list Ignite before Exhaust. The human mind tends to organize whatever comes first as the most important or the best option.

Just going to put this out there, TheOddOne uses Ghost on Shen. I know that sounds like a stupid way of proving it, but it's interesting to see that a professional player uses Ghost.

A little bit of coding here would make it look a little better, but this section is fine without any major changes.

Abilities:

The information here is amazing. I would like to see a little reformatting so that it looks a little better, but it looks pretty good (That video of Stand United is pretty awesome).

Skill Sequence:

Why not combine this into your abilities section? I would think it would flow a little better.

Items:

You don't need the full sequence for your items. Just use the final items: General and Against Double AP

If you don't like Ionic Spark and Spirit Visage and don't think they are good on Shen, why have them there?

I don't mean to be rude, but Sunfire Aegis is garbage. It is so cost inefficient, and Shen does not need it to split push. With Wit's End you clear waves at a moderate pace, Sunfire Aegis marginally increases that speed. By marginally, I mean not worth the gold. Atma's Impaler is a much better item instead.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter and Wit's End do not go together. AS means you are going to be auto attacking, but buying AP means casting spells. Frozen Mallet is SO MUCH BETTER. I don't know why you hate it so much, but it's infinitely better on Shen than Rylai's Crystal Scepter. Wit's End and Frozen Mallet both suggest auto attacking, which is what Shen is going to be doing for most of his damage anyways. His passive synergises with AS and AD, and auto attacks. You will do much more with a permaslow on a person from Frozen Mallet than a non perma slow with Rylai's Crystal Scepter + slightly stronger shield/ Vorpal Blade. As I already mentioned, it's impossible to permaslow with Rylai's Crystal Scepter, however, there is something I would like to point out. As the tank, you are likely going to Shadow Dash in. Assuming you hit 3 people, you are going to Vorpal Blade the best target and activate Feint. You are most likely going to keep spamming Feint to tank damage. Thus, you are not going to have energy to continuously spam Vorpal Blade and Feint while still having enough to Shadow Dash, so your damage output is going to be lower than if you were using Frozen Mallet.

Last things I noticed:

I don't see a warding map.

I don't see jungle path maps.

This guide is a great guide. It is very in depth and is a great read for anyone who wants to learn more about Shen. The amount of information is unmatched and can easily keep you reading for over half an hour.

If there is one thing that I can suggest you work on, is your coding and formatting to make the guide a little more aesthetically pleasing. Take another look at jhoi's guide on making guides and IceCreamy's Column Guide.

I'd like to hear your opinions, but trust me, this is already upvoted.

Good guide.

However, Frozen Mallet is the best item on Shen, bar none. Not only does it slow the target, it also increases your damage, and unlike Warmogs doesn't take half the game to farm up.

Phage is also an exceedingly good early game item.

Also, i'm 90% sure you can use your ult during Nocturne's by simply clicking the portrait of the character on the side, unless they removed that feature.

Also SFC is practically never good even against heavy AD comps. Hell, if you want minion clearing so much, a thornmail or even a tiamat do more damage then a SFC lmao. That's how bad it is.

There is more to being a "true tank" then just mitigating damage. For instance, if Cho'Gath stacks his Feast and a couple of Warmog's Armor it doesn't make him a true tank but simply a useless meat-shield which poses no threat. Rylai's Crystal Scepter makes him a proficient threat. For a more long-winded explanation feel free to look it up at the Items section.

Been rather busy the past few days with some personal issues but will make sure to update within the upcoming days.

-flash should be your primary SS on shen. flash taunt op.
-you don't need sunfire to split push effectively. just sayin'.
-you don't need rylai. shen has enough peel with a multi-target taunt. If you need the slow, take mallet. even atmas is a better choice considering how much health you have

  1. Only Ki Strike and the healing portion of Vorpal Blade scale from health, it isn't as much as your making out.
  2. I've already included Ruby Crystal as a starting option, I like starting Boots as to make either your level 2 or level 4 ganks more potent when aiming for one. Ironically Doran's Shield isn't exactly economically effective compared to the other options as you'll just end up selling them hence why I didn't include it within the options.
  3. I have Flash in the second build, Exhaust is far too helpful in shutting down the damage of the enemy AD range carry temporarily or countering Kennen engages for example. Kinda standard for many junglers to pick up Exhaust as there is many occasions when you will be the only one with it.
  4. Shen is a poor pusher, with no AoE at all (as said Shadow Dash doesn't work on minions) so yeah you do.
  5. You don't need Frozen Mallet just saying. Rylai's Crystal Scepter makes you much of a threat whilst making you tanky. Attack damage isn't anywhere near as valuable as Ability Power to Shen, to it put the way you put it he has way too much **** that scales with ability power.
