Champion Build Guide

[11.23] Menace To LoL Graves

By King Turtle
Build Introduction
This build was based off a previous idea I had on Graves that got revived after I started messing around with more champions. I really enjoy this build path as you can get a solid amount of lethality and crit without sacrificing many strong points and you avoid the early mana demons that can sneak up on you with mid/top graves. So far I've gotten some decent experience battling some terrible matchups and some favorable ones so I feel like I have enough to make a guide.
Pros And Cons
High Damage Output: Graves in general has pretty nice damage, but with this balance of crit and lethality it's even greater.

No Mana Problems: Generally, one issue of early graves is his mana costs. His Q costs 80 mana and his W costs 70, meaning playing aggressive drains your mana pretty fast. With Tear into Manamune you'll be able to play aggressive and worry less about your mana running out.

Cheap Build: This build is pretty cheap for what we're trying to achieve, allowing you to speed through the build if you can get a lead.

Early Matchups: One issue with Graves in Mid/Top lane is that his early damage isn't as potent because of the lack of immediate crit and lethality. Meaning there are plenty of matchups where you can struggle to pull a win in trades and skirmishes.
Runes

  • Dark Harvest is one of the best keystones on Graves as the bonus damage from the rune is a nice touch and actually getting the stacks is incredibly easy mid and late game so you can be at 20+ consistently.

  • Sudden Impact is another amazing rune on graves as his E has a low mana cost and has a cooldown reduction whenever you hit enemies with your autos, meaning you can refresh sudden impact constantly in fights.

  • Eyeball is the only viable option on this branch and also the best option for graves as any AD gain is solid.

  • Ultimate Hunter is incredible on graves as his Ultimate is already on a decent cooldown, and with Ult Hunter becomes an incredibly short Ultimate cooldown, which is peak on graves because of how good the damage and range are on it.

  • Perfect Timing is just a free stopwatch. It's good for early trades as most of the time you're going to be getting kills by wasting time and kiting your enemy until you can afford to go all in.

  • Biscuits will help you keep healthy and recover mana while you stack tear. It'll pair with Refillables and make it easier to stay in lane.
The Collector

We're going to go The Collector first to get crit as soon as possible and still get some lethality until we can afford Duskblade. It's one of his core items as the lethality/crit mix is extremely efficient on him and the execute passive is perfect for his early and mid game. This item is a no brainer.
Berserker Greaves

The attack speed from these boots make graves feel a lot smoother to play as his reload speed scales with bonus attack speed and level. You'll be able to get more shots off, and use your E more effectively to get triple shot combos and decimate enemies.
Duskblade

Duskblade used to be Graves' top mythic but with the rise of Shieldbow meta and crit becoming more valuable on him, Duskblade has been tossed to the side, but even so, I prefer Duskblade for the damage and invisibility passive as Graves can enter a fight, blow someone up in 2 shots, vanish into the void, and repeat the process until everyone is dead. It's also fairly cheap for a mythic and for the stats it gives.
Muramana

Muramana is going to be our mana item to avoid getting **** on early because Graves hemhorrhages mana early and having no mana with graves just feels terrible because your auto damage is pretty weak up until mid game. It also gives a bunch of AD which is always helpful on champions like Graves and Talon who can abuse it more than others.
Phantom Dancer

Phantom Dancer is a solid item on graves because he already has good kiting with his E, and now he can go even faster while also being able to move through waves and bypass minions blocking your shots. It's incredibly cheap, adds crit, and makes it harder to get away or get to him.
Lord Dominiks Regards

Lord Dominik's Regards adds some more crit to the build, gives armor penetration, and adds a passive which makes killing armored up bruisers and full build tanks easier to avoid getting rolled because the 40 minute mundo man has as much armor as malphite against a full AD team, and heals like he has 3 yuumi's strapped to his chest. And once you get far enough into the game, you can replace boots with Mortal Reminder and the pairing of Mortal Reminder and Lord Dominik's makes it incredibly hard for tanks to take shots for long.
Mortal Reminder - Boots Replacement

Mortal Reminder is going to be our item to replace boots once you're full build, and a single teamfight can decide the entire game. It's best for comps with lots of tanks(Shen, Thresh, Mundo, Varus, Pyke, for example) or high healing comps that dont need to be tanky to facetank a million shots and live.
Alternative Item - Axiom Arc

You ever want to Ult an enemy, kill 2 people, then Ult another enemy all within the same teamfight? Axiom Arc makes that a reality and it's so stupid that it just has to work. Give it a try if you prefer lethality over Crit on Graves.
Build Conclusion
I had some great games with 20+ kills and 50k+ damage while testing, and each time I have a blast being able to 2 shot the enemy carry and vanish, only to reappear and ***blast the entire backline. I think it's a great build, and hope that you do to, GLHF!
