[11.5] Absolute 1v9 Carry Renekton Top/Mid Complete Guide

By SpyDaFX
I'm a plat 1 Renekton player in euw & eune with over 1 Million mastery points on him. I made this guide because I think a lot of people play Renekton the wrong way (going tank, going full damage, going full healing) which is why I made this guide, because there is not enough information about the matchups and items that people should be going on Renekton . some of you might think that I'm just platinum and my knowledge of the game is irrelevant but when you'll actually read my guide and use the runes and items situationally in every game, I can guarantee you'll climb the ranked ladder.
Renekton got one of the strongest early games in the game, if you secure a lead early you will be able to impact the map really well, because when you get fed on Renekton and buy the items according to my build, you will scale much much better than other Renekton builds that tell you to build mostly tank items, and Renekton should NEVER build more than 3 tanks items, or he'll be irrelevant in the late game.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Renekton has a really good dueling potential with almost any melee champion, and have a really good split pushing potential with auto cancels from his W and Titanic Hydra (You can get 3 auto attacks at once with AA + W + Titanic Hydra ), and by running Demolish , your split pushing potential will be insane, especially if you decide to build more health (for stronger Demolish procs) (Sterak's Gage , Titanic Hydra , Black Cleaver ..)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Renekton has no ability costs, and you will always have to manage your fury carefully, which can lead to insane 1v2 outplays, because if you main Renekton you'll start seeing so much more opportunities to all in or fight, you'll know exactly how much damage you'll do, how much fury you'll get or need to use Emp W or Q , and good fury management is the #1 factor it takes to carry with Renekton .

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Renekton can be both tanky and deal damage to the enemy carries, and he's really good into enemy carries such as Yasuo , Riven , Kha'Zix (in the early-mid game), your W will shred them really easily and you'll be able to 1v1 any of them if your R is up and they are not too ahead of you.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Renekton can secure cannons or minions with his W, which can lead to bigger leads and less tilt
1. You can E through some walls.

2. You can cancel your W animation with Tiamat /E .

3. You get 50% more Fury by using abilities or attacking when under 50 HP, and you waste fury by using abilities (except first E ) when above 50 fury .

4. You have a little bit of a weak late game when you run press the attack , and you have a very strong late game when running Conqueror . (Usually, you will want to end the game quick because press the attacks is getting worse the longer the game goes, the opposite goes for Conqueror ).

5. Your level 2 is a possible all-in with ignite against 90% of the champions that are not hard matchups.

6. You can get a second E by E'ing on Champions
/ Jungle Monsters / Minions / Yorick or Malzahar minions. (Basically any Champion/Creature with stats such
as hp and damage).

7. As Renekton , you should look to split push and pressure whenever possible, when running press the attack look to fight more than to split. you can do auto attack resets on turret with AA + W + Titanic Hydra (helps splitting).

8. Mercury's Treads are your best friend, they are really important against cc, even if they have a fed Yasuo , but a Vel'Koz support, Fiddlesticks jungle, Malphite top, Mercury's Treads are always better, just get Guardian Angel for some armor.

9. Try to get an auto-attack before every ability you cast to cancel its animation.

10. The bigger the wave, you more fury you get by using un-empowered Q or E on it.

11. The bigger the wave, the more you can heal with your Q .

12. Tiamat does not give you Fury
Note:
# +/ means - if nessecary, then use
# / means - or
# Sometimes you'll have to be creative.

All in combo before level 6:
E + AA + W + Tiamat + Q (you can E on the enemy or E away after you Ignite ).
Or in simple
E + AA + W + TIAMAT + Q +/ E / Ignite / Flash / AA's

All in combo level 2 (if you start W , when has at least 50 Fury ):
E + AA + W + E (You can keep autoing after the combo of course, or Flash + AA if they're low).
Or in simple
E + AA + W + E +/ Ignite / Flash / AA's

All in combo level 3 (Without Tiamat , when has at least 50 Fury ):
E + AA + W + Q + E
Or in simple
E + AA + W + Q + E +/ Ignite / Flash / AA's

kill someone that is far away and is very low hp:
E (on creeps/champs/etc)+ FLASH + E + Q / W (usually Q is better but u can W if u need more damage and you're in range)
Or in simple
E + FLASH + E + Q / W
if you have nothing to E on - Flash + E (on creeps/champs/etc) + E

fast poke combo:
AA + Q (helps you poke someone in lane, and maybe get an empowered Q off, really useful)

Conqueror is usually what you'll always wanna go in the current meta, gives you such good early game and healing (unlike PTA which gets easily outscaled by armor and you won't have much burst till later on in the game) unlike other runes and is the "bread and butter" for Renekton. PTA is for sqishy teams and theres not much to explain on it other than that it behaves like Renekton's W pretty much (you need to attack 3 times a target to deal some damage, which behaves basically like empowered renekton w but the problem is its just that, no healing, and no extended fighting power, so that's why conqueror is always a much safer and better option.)

Triumph is a must on literally almost every champ, saves you when diving sometimes, helps a lot when team fighting.

Tenacity is a must on Renekton, in every game, because Renekton tends to get cc'ed in team fights. Hard.

Last stand because Renekton tends to fight while he's low on hp.

Transcendence helps you to scale better into the late game.

It helps you a lot against ap matchups, you still get a lot of damage from pta and this helps you survive the lane.

It helps you scale into the late game by giving you AD (the longer the game goes), really helpful if you're behind or the game is taking too long.

Revitalize helps you a lot in lane sustain, dueling sustain, team fighting sustain, it heals you every time u have conqueror stacked, heals you for death dance, heals you for wit's end, for Q (which got recently buffed)...

Demolish gets ur leads faster, helps split pushing.

=============================
Other options:
=============================

Always nice to have, gives you tankiness and synergizes well with Demolish.

Against mostly ranged matchups that poke you a lot, can also work against bursty matchups like Sylas, Akali, Jax.

Against high cc comps, I barely pick this anymore but it's always nice to be more cc-immune than to get Malzahar R'd and complain that you can't move ;)

=============================
Renekton Mid:
=============================

Found it to be the best choice with Ultimate Hunter for Renekton Mid, gives you great sustain in lane, better than Sudden Impact because sustain is more important than a little bit more damage.

Both Ultimate Hunter and Ravenous Hunter are great choices on Renekton , but for Renekton mid specifically it's better to have your Ultimate ready more than to have more sustain since Taste of Blood and Conqueror already giving you sustain so with less R cooldown you can roam more and make more plays, Have more map pressure and win more games.

Cheap shot is actually really nice to have as renekton mid since of its additional true damage to your burst you should really consider it.

Ingenious Hunter this meta is another good option on Renekton since most of the items he builds especially in mid lane are cooldown-reliant so having additional cooldown reduction (or ability haste whatever you wanna call it) is always a good option.)

Reign of Anger

Renekton gains 5 fury per autoattack. When out of combat for 12 seconds, he loses 4 fury every second.

When Renekton is below 50% health he generates 50% more fury from all sources.

When at/above 50 Fury, Renekton's next basic ability consumes 50 Fury to enhance its effects (does not generate Fury).

Basically everytime you auto attack you get 5 fury, and get 7.5 per auto attack when under 50% hp, and by using abilities when above 50 fury you use 50 fury (except for first E, second E fury does use 50 fury.)

Q - Cull the Meek

Renekton swings his blade, dealing moderate physical damage to all targets around him, and heals for a small portion of the damage dealt. If he has more than 50 Fury, his damage and heal are increased.

Renekton swings his blade, dealing 65/100/135/170/205 (+80% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage to nearby enemies and healing himself for 3/4.5/6/7.5/9 (+80% bonus Attack Damage) Health for each non-champion hit and 120% bonus Attack Damage (+0) Health for each champion hit, up to 50/75/100/125/150 Health. He generates 2.5 Fury for each non-champion hit and 10 Fury for each champion hit, up to a maximum of 30 Fury.
50 Fury Bonus: Damage increased to 100/150/200/250/300 (+120% bonus Attack Damage). Heal increased to 9/13.5/18/22.5/27 (+0) per non-champion and 0 (+0) per champion, up to 200/300/400/500/600. No longer generates Fury.

You'll start with this ability into some matchups (usually the ones that you can't step up to collect cs so you'll want to use the max range of you Q to do so. or the ones that you need the early sustain.

W - Ruthless Predator

Renekton's next basic attack within 7 seconds gains Range icon 50 bonus range and strikes his target twice dealing modified physical damage and Stun icon stunning them for 0.75 seconds. Each hit applies on-hit effects and grants Fury resource Fury. Hitting an enemy Champion icon champion grants 10 bonus Fury.

TOTAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE:ยป
10 / 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 (+ 150% AD)
Empowered W (50 Fury bonus) - Ruthless Predator instead strikes Renekton's target 3 times, dealing 50% bonus damage and increasing the stun duration to 1.5 seconds.

TOTAL ENHANCED DAMAGE:
15 / 45 / 75 / 105 / 135 (+ 225% AD)
Ruthless Predator resets Renekton's basic attack timer.

In easier terms to understand, Renekton's main source of damage, you don't max it though, and to maximize damage you'll want to get as much empowered W's as you can (while stayling relatively healthy of course).

E - Slice and Dice

FIRST CAST - SLICE: Renekton Dash dashes in the target direction, dealing physical damage to all enemies he passes through.

PHYSICAL DAMAGE:
40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+ 90% bonus AD)
Hitting an enemy allows Renekton to cast Dice within the next 4 seconds.

Dice
SECOND CAST - DICE: Renekton Dash dashes in the target direction, dealing the same physical damage to all enemies he passes through.

TOTAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE:
80 / 140 / 200 / 260 / 320 (+ 180% bonus AD)
Both Slice and Dice generate Fury resource 2 Fury for each non-champion hit, and 10 Fury for each champion hit, with the Fury generated per dash capped at 30.

Empowered E (50 Fury bonus): Dice deals additional damage to all enemies and reduces their Armor icon armor for 4 seconds.

ENHANCED PHYSICAL DAMAGE:
70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+ 135% bonus AD)
ARMOR REDUCTION:
25 / 27.5 / 30 / 32.5 / 35%

Honestly, I never felt like the empowered e did anything, even when I was against tanks, better off utilize your empowered w and q and not waste fury on E (maybe when dueling a heavy tank like malphite, sure, you can use it)

R - Dominus

Renekton empowers himself for 15 seconds, gaining Health icon bonus health, increased size, Range icon 25 bonus range and Fury resource 20 Fury.

BONUS HEALTH:
250 / 500 / 750
For the duration, he deals Ability power magic damage each half second to all nearby enemies and generates 5 Fury per second, up to a maximum of 75 Fury.

MAGIC DAMAGE PER HALF SECOND:
20 / 40 / 60 (+ 10% AP)

Don't let the magic damage per second fool you, never go ap Renekton , it's the only ability that gives you AP, you won't have any ap damage on other abilities, including your Q .
Goredrinker

A must core item for Renekton and most bruisers, the item basically behaves like a Renekton Q, so you can see why it's so good on him, gives AOE damage, healing and theres no reason not to buy it (VS Bruisers)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Prowler's Claw is an insane item, gives you an additional dash, burst, and damage, obviously you'll wanna get it vs sqishies since you can get easily kited by them cause of items like Galeforce and basically all the tools these days that adcs or mages has to kite or block you, you'll wanna have it so you can land your combo much easier on them and secure wins cause you can and probably would win the fight if you burst their carries, remember you can go PTA vs comps that has sqishies in them and this item is a great option for those situations.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Blade of the ruined king

Really strong core item for Renekton, you should always consider it (and usually buy it) cause of its additional damage output/burst and being able to stick to targets better.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Death's Dance

That item isn't a must on Renekton , and you can say it's personal preference since some people will like the armor it gives and damage but some people will dislike that it can kill you in some situations because of its passive:

UNIQUE Passive: Stores 30% of all physical and magic damage received, and is taken as damage over time true damage instead, dealing one-third of the stored damage every second.)

If you take damage and you want to recall you can't, you need to wait until the passive expires, for me it's annoying sometimes and I choose other items, but it's really up to you if you don't care about it.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Wit's End

Rarely used on Renekton anymore, not very recommended to buy but still a viable option vs teams with bruisers you can duel with (that have a lot of ap), cause of its decent stats.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The Black Cleaver

The Black Cleaver used to be a must item for Renekton , anyone would rush it (and some still does), the truth is that Renekton doesn't really scale well as a tank if he doesn't get a big lead, and you better off get some utility/lethality items instead of a tank item that deals a little bit of damage, You can rush it at any point in the game if you're either not tanky enough or if they have a really fed tank that you can't shred.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Sterak's Gage

Sterak's Gage is very strong right now due to the buffs and is usually a must buy on all bruisers, gives you a shield, life steal and hp.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Guardian Angel

You can always go with this item for some armor, and survivability, 80% of the time I find out that it didn't save me at all and didn't help, maybe I'm just unlucky, I don't think this item is really worth the price unless you have a really big bounty and you don't want to risk it, then sure, go ahead and buy it.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Quicksilver Sash

Every time I buy it I don't use it, maybe because I didn't play LoL enough and I can't time it well, but I honestly think don't go for this item unless you really good at timing it, and only if they got a Malzahar that ults you usually, then it's really easy to time it.
it gives you mr on top of that it removes disables (cc, stuns, fears, roots..).

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Trinity Force

Most of the time I built this item when either - they don't have a lot of tanks, when I lack attack speed but want the Phage proc and when I want to split push.

It gives you attack speed and a lot of damage with Sheen proc (it's good against tanks, it also gives you Phage proc just like Black Cleaver , gives movement speed on basic attacks, will work really well against tanks like Malphite for example, that slows you.) (when you W it procs Sheen sheen size 25 for example), so it works on turrets aswell.

I go with this item when I lack attack speed and want the Phage proc against really heavy movement speed champions, usually ADC's or supports with high mobility. the attack speed and Sheen proc helps me burst them easier.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Titanic Hydra

found out that most of the time I needed the tankiness from it and it's better than the damage Ravenous Hydra gave me and healing. it helps your split pushing tho, because when you want to take a turret quickly, you can AA + W + Titanic Hydra to get 3 auto attacks at the same time, combine that with Demolish and in mid-late game you should be able to take turrets insanely fast (like, really fast).
It also helps your team fighting.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Elixer of Iron
Elixer of Iron

Better off get more Tenacity and tankiness at this point in the game (late game) than to get more damage, you want to survive, because Renekton doesn't scale that well, and not deal more damage, because if you get cc'ed, basically you won't be able to deal damage because you won't be able to move. same goes if you get bursted.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Note - for those who don't understand what is ad/ap and what boots to pick.

Every game is situational, you can't go with the same boots every game (except for Mobility Boots and Swiftness Boots or Lucidity , but it's not meant for Renekton ), because theres this thing called ad and ap, ad is attack damage, ap is ability power. Champions that you see have items that gives them ad, like Yasuo , Kha'Zix , Rengar , Talon , Fiora , Darius , Varus , Draven , and much more, all of these champions are ad champinos, therefore, you'll always wanna grab Ninja Tabbies , they'll give you -12% less damage from their basic attacks, since ad champions are usually melee and are not mages.

You go Mercury's Treads into usually comps that have mostly ap, just check their items to see if they say it gives "Ability Power", then you'll know it's ap, so if you see 3 of these Champions with items that have it just go Mercury's Treads .

You can go Berserker's Greaves when you pick Lethal Tempo, and Death Dance death dance and Blade of the ruined king , Very recommended.

The only other scenario is against really really heavy cc comps (they don't have to have ap, even if they have ad but you always get cc'ed heavily just go with it, but if they have a fed heavy ad champ (Yasuo , Draven , Rengar ), just go with the Tabbies ).
