[11.13] Lao's Tryndamere - Follow my blade!

Hello there!

My name is Lao Shin, I'm 19 Years old and I'm a high elo Toplane Main.

I've played League of Legends since season 1, and have mained toplane since season 2. My second best role is midlane. Ever since season 3 I've been high Diamond and peaked Challenger multiple season's. League of Legends has always been my main game, the most fun part of the game is never learning out, there is always something new.

Since I play i always loved Champions without any resource costs like mana or energy, Tryndamere is one of my soloQ picks because he is much fun, very save and consistently strong in the current meta.






There are 3 Different kind of build's that are very good right now on Tryndamere. You just have to figure out which of those build's fits your playstyle the best and most importantly, which one is the most fun for you.

AD Tryndamere:

AD is the most common played Tryndamere and is the most simple one. If you are a beginner with Tryndamere this will most likely how you build him. The Itembuild is very strong for splitpushing and 1v1'ing enemys. You have max CDR so your E cooldown is very Low and you have a good amount of sustain.


Korean Tryndamere:

This type of build is mainly focused on having a lot of movementspeed. You don't lack damage or anything but you most likely won't take flash. If you aren't used to this it can be a little harsh at the beginning, but learning how to play with this build can really pay off.

AP Tryndamere:

There are man reasons why he is so strong with AP, mainly because he spikes so hard another huge factor is because even when u build AP your E does AD damage. For the most part it's because he has incredible lane sustain and very low cooldown so you almost have no hard matchups. As soon as u get your 45% cdr powerspike u are unstoppable. You have great moblity with a 4 second spin cooldown and it gets even less with critting the enemy.

You can farm evenly fast as with AD tryn but you hit harder have more mobility and a cheaper powerspike. The enemys will underestimate your autoattacks and your pushing power. Also Crit Item's got nerfed and kinda suck now.

With AD & Korean Tryndamere you Obviously want to max your Q, you aren't so reliant on your E and you don't have that low cooldown earlygame. The Q is much more Important with this playstyle.

You will probably shake your head and wonder, what?! E Max Tryndamere?! Yes you max your E to get less cooldown on it as fast as possible. Also it's your main damage resource so you want it to spike as hard as possible. You put 2 points in Q because you get AD for it and it makes farming under tower easier. Q healing is higher as with AD tryndamere anyway because of all the AP you buy so u won't need to max it early.






Passiv: Battle Fury



Tryndamere gains Fury for each attack, critical strike, and killing blow he makes. Fury passively increases his Critical Strike Chance and can be consumed with his Bloodlust spell.







Q: Bloodlust



Tryndamere thrives on the thrills of combat, increasing his Attack Damage as he is more and more wounded. He can cast Bloodlust to consume his Fury and heal himself.

Passive: Tryndamere thirsts for blood, gaining 5/10/15/20/25 Attack Damage plus 0.15/0.2/0.25/0.3/0.35 per 1% Health missing.

Active: Tryndamere consumes his Fury, restoring 30/40/50/60/70 (+30% Ability Power) Health, plus 0.5/0.95/1.4/1.85/2.3 (+0) Health per Fury consumed.








W: Mocking Shout



Tryndamere lets out an insulting cry, decreasing surrounding champions' Attack Damage. Enemies with their backs turned to Tryndamere also have their Movement Speed reduced.

Decreases surrounding champions' Attack Damage by 20/35/50/65/80 for 4 seconds, and enemies with their backs turned also have their Movement Speed reduced by 30/37.5/45/52.5/60% for 4 seconds.








E: Spinning Slash



Tryndamere slices toward a target unit, dealing damage to enemies in his path.

Tryndamere spins through his enemies, dealing 80/110/140/170/200 (+130% bonus Attack Damage) (+100% Ability Power) physical damage to enemies in his path and generating Fury.Spinning Slash's cooldown is reduced by 1 second whenever Tryndamere critically strikes. This reduction is increased to 2 seconds against champions.








R: Undying Rage



Tryndamere's lust for battle becomes so strong that he is unable to die, no matter how wounded he becomes.

Tryndamere becomes completely immune to death for 5 seconds, refusing to be reduced below 30/50/70 Health and instantly gaining 50/75/100 Fury.







Flash is ur most important spell, a teamfight with it can be game deciding and a teamfight without it can be the game losing. Never waste it for a solokill except in the early game. Midgame/Lategame u have to be extra defensive except if u are very fed, because u don't want to get catched and have to waste ur flash. Also it enables you to E + Flash Combo.


Ghost is really good with the korean tryn build because you have constantly a lot more movementspeed than the enemy. It's great for towerdiving, escaping or simply teamfighting. The best part about it is the low Cooldown.


Ignite enables u some games to snowball out of controll and it's heal reduction and that's a pretty huge thing right now in the meta. In some matchups Ignite is exactly that little gap between the enemy surviving with 50Hp and the enemy being dead.







Precision & Sorcery



Lethal Tempois currently best rune for tryndamere since you attack that much faster and get your E cooldown much sooner back if you get lucky with crits or lategame have your high crit chances.


Triumph can save u multiple times in a single teamfight, in lanephase it can also give u that little extra HP u need to survive when u towerdive the enemy.


Legend: Tenacity helps a lot to get through the enemy CC in teamfights or lane. This rune can be the difference between dying while not moving and pentakilling the enemy team solo.


Most of the time you will fight lowlife because you get bursted fast and you are squishy. When ulting your DPS is the highest with this rune.


Nimbus Cloak got recently changed, very much into tryndameres favor, no matter if you take Ignite or Ghost it always lets you stick harder to the enemy champions.


Transcendence is perfect for the current Tryndamere itembuild. It allows you to get 40% cdr with Essence Reaver + Stinger and when you build it into tryforce it gives you a bunch of bonus ad.


Precision & Inspiration



The best choice for tryn, no matter if AD or AP. Why for AP? Conqueror converts 20% of the Damage dealt into true damage. No matter if AD or AP Damage. It's the perfect rune for tryndamere.


Triumph can save u multiple times in a single teamfight, in lanephase it can also give u that little extra HP u need to survive when u towerdive the enemy.


Legend: Alacrity gives you a bunch of extra Attackspeed, and with more attackspeed you can fill your ragebar faster and get more crit chance. Critting reduces the cooldown of your E and this highers your DPS a lot.


Most of the time you will fight lowlife because you get bursted fast and you are squishy. When ulting your DPS is the highest with this rune.


Magical Footwear gives you 300gold for free in theory because you get the boots completly free. With that you get your 45% powerspike much faster and you spike earlier.


Since CDR is your most important stat you take Cosmic Insight with you every game. This enables not only 5% extra CDR but also that you can overcap those 5% and get a maximum of 45%.






Start every Game with Long Sword and Refillable Potion it's simply the best option you can take because you can get your second Item faster.


With Korean Tryn you don't have waveclear because you get Statikk Shiv very late. Tiamat helps a lot with that, later in the game you can upgrade it into Ravenous Hydra


Ionian Boots of Lucidity is a very cheap CDR Item that also gives you summoner spell cooldown. Since u want the CDR early this is the perfect Item for tryn. The summoner spell cooldown is important because of your E + Flash combo.


Berserker's Greaves is very gold efficient and are the best boots for Korean Tryndamere build, if you feel like you can't reach the enemy to autoattack and reset your E cooldown just swap them out for Ionian Boots of Lucidity.


Not much to say to Statikk Shiv it gives you every stat you need. As soon as you bought it you can powerfarm and with the effect of it you can push the wave very fast.


Similar like Statikk Shiv it just gives you every stat you need, the only difference between those item's are that Phantom Dancer is more for survivability and Statikk Shiv for damage and waveclear.


Since you need cooldown reduction and lifesteal Death's Dance is the perfect item for that. Also the combination Death's Dance + Phantom Dancer is really good, you don't seem that tanky but with these two item's you surely are.


Guinsoo's Rageblade is an Item you want to get every game. It has too many reasons why you should get it you just can't ignore this item. It gives you attackspeed and a effect that u hit twice every second hit, since tryndamere's only source of damage are his aa's and E it's just the best.


More attackspeed, more CDR and a few very good passive effects. All of that offers you Trinity Force. It's very expensive but it's hella worth. Get this Item every game last Item.


Since the Korean playstyle of Tryndamere is movementspeed reliant you want to get Stormrazor as your first big item. It enables you to get 1 100% Crit on the enemy and afterwards you get a nice amount of movementspeed.


Since the rework of Infinity Edge you always have 100% crit chance with 2 Item's with Tryndamere. You deal insane amount of damage as soon as you get this item.




If you play AP start every game with it, it's simply the best choice because you can farm, trade and sustain easier with it.


Ionian Boots of Lucidity is a very cheap CDR Item that also gives you summoner spell cooldown. Since u want the CDR early this is the perfect Item for tryn. The summoner spell cooldown is important because of your E + Flash combo.


Nashor's Tooth gives you all the stats you need on AP Tryndamere, CDR, AP, Attackspeed and ON Hit Damage. You rush it every game first item as fast as possible. Sidenote: You build Fiendish Codex first because you want that AP to heal more and farm easier with E.


Great second Item for AP Tryn because you have such low cooldowns it proc's very often and highers your damage by a lot. You are very mobile because you can spin all the time but with Lich Bane you get extra movementspeed so it highers your mobility by a lot.


Spellbinder is a great item if some champs that spam spells really hard are in the game. It gives a lot of AP and Movementspeed even if u don't use the active so thats great.


If you need armor or have a hard time surviving champions like Zed or Rengar you can always look forward to buying Zhonya's Hourglass it's a great Item for Tryndamere.


You roam a lot or enemys have a Twitch, Evelynn or Rengar? With this item you and your team are always aware where they are. Most people see this as a support item, even tho it isn't.


Most of the times your 6. Item will be Hextech Gunblade with it your autoattacks hurt a lot more and you finally have lifesteal and spellvamp. Also with the Active of it you can burst the enemys faster or your enemys will have a even harder time to escape you.


If you want to maximize your damage you can build Rabadon's Deathcap as one of your last items. It gives you a lot of bonus AP, but it also costs a lot of gold and offers no other stats.






What's Important?

Everyone should try to create a own playstyle, enemys won't expect something they have never seen. Try to find what works best for urself.


Early Game

Earlygame lvl1-3 you are very weak except you land some lucky crits. Tryn focuses much on farming in the earlygame because he outscales most of the matchups anyway, don't fight too much except it's a good matchup for you.


Mid Game

This is the time where u already should have bought your first two or three items. Midgame is the best phase for Tryndamere because you can duell everyone. Try to get as many objectives as possible and your team as far ahead as you can.


Late Game

In the lategame you can either group with your team or split push and try to get as much pressure as you can on the map. Always be aware what objective will be contestet next so you are near your team.






Tryndamere's job in a teamfight is to spin into the enemy backline and try to put as much damage and pressure on the enemy carrys as you can, you wan't them to focus you because you can't die in your ultimate anyway. Since you have very low cooldown on your E they should have no chance to escape you and you can easily shut them down and secure the teamfight for your favor.






The only real Combo Tryndamere has to offer is the E + Flash Autoattack. It's simple but very effective.

It's a very unusual build and many people will underestimate you and then get punished for it. It's a lot of fun because it's playstyle is something very individual.

Also Tryndamere is a very strong pick in the current meta and playing him AP makes him a lot more dangerous cause he has a earlier powerspike cheaper item's and can duell almost everyone. The playstyle is somewhat similar with AD and you also do AD damage. A lot of opponent's won't know that tryn E does AD damage even when it's scaling AP. This will enable you to crush them easily and the magic resistance item's they buy will be worthless.
