Hello everyone and welcome to my Gragas build. It's my first build ever made, and I hope you like it. This build is suitable for every Gragas player (solo top-lane, duo-lane, etc.).

I'll explain my build as best as I can, and I'll answer all questions related to it. If you have any recommendations for runes, masteries or items then I'll try them out and see what works best.

I will also note that I am, in no way, a "pro" player.

Basic caster mastery, 9/0/21.

These masteries give me that extra HP and Mana regen, extra movement speed, AP and CDR.

Utility

• Perseverence : Always nice to have increased HP and Mana regen.
• Awareness : I take this one, since it's nice to have the extra EXP gain, in any kind of game.
• Meditation : Extra mana regen
• Utility Mastery : Great mastery if you down Nash or get into the jungle for that extra boost.
• Blink of an Eye : Take this mastery if you use Flash, if you use Ghost use Haste
• Quickness : Increased movement is always nice to have.
• Intelligence : CDR is very usefull on Gragas.
• Presence of the Master : Great to be able to use your summoners spells more.

Offensive

• Archmage's Savvy : Increased AP is very good for Gragas
• Sorcery: Again a CDR mastery, very intersting.
• Archaic Knowledge : MPen is always intresting

For Runes:

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration: Magic penetration, basic rune for any AP user.
Greater Seal of Scaling Ability Power: AP/lvl is great combined with the glyphs
Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power: AP/lvl is great combined with the Seals
Greater Quintessence of Ability Power: AP quints, I chose these over the HP quints since Gragas has high HP anyways.

The Seals and Glyphs combined give you an extra 45 AP at lvl 18, while the quints give you 15 AP to begin with.

I go for Flash and Ignite.

I don't really think Ghost is that intresting on Gragas, because of his Body Slam that can be used as an offensive ability, as well as a defensive one. So yea, I use Flash.

Ignite is a great spell as well to make sure you get that kill. Exhaust is also a great choice if you prefer that over Ignite. But I use Ignite for a sure kill.

Other viable spells:

Heal: Lane sustainablity
Exhaust: You can take this if you don't really like Ignite
Ghost: Can be used in combo with Body Slam, if you really want to escape.
Teleport: If you need that extra mobility.

Non-viable spells:

Revive: Not worth the spot.
Clarity: As long as you don't spam your spells, you'll be fine.
Rally: Not a great spell.
Clairvoyance: Spell for the support role, not for you.
Fortify: Tank spell.
Smite: You're not a jungler.

I go for the normal skill sequence. I max Barrel Roll first for the early harass, afterwards I max out his Explosive Cask, then his Drunken Rage and as last skill: Body Slam.

At the start of a fight, always use Drunken Rage! The extra boost gives that little extra. Use Barrel rolls alot (but not spamming it either!). If you think you're save, then use Body slam as an offensive ability, otherwise use it as a quick escape when you need it. Use your ulti when you're near a friendly tower or in a teamfight. Make sure that the explosion makes your enemies jump to you, not from you! If you can pull this off, you'll get loads of assists, or even kills.

As starting items, you can choose between 3 paths. You can go for the Ring for the nice early stats, you can go for the extra mana so you can get a fast Catalyst the Protector or you can go for the fast mobility. Either of these 3 paths will do fine.


These items are a must for Gragas. The Deathcap is needed for that large chunk of AP, Lich Bane is needed for the AP and great passive and the Banshee's Veil is used as a defensive item. Always go for the Boots first, then the Veil, after that the Deathcap and as last the Lich Bane.


The Thornmail is just THE item against an AD team. The Hourglass is also a great item to give you armor and AP.


The Abyssal Scepter is a great item for the mag resist and the extra AP, Spirit visage gives you CDR, HP and magic resist which is great too!


These items will boost your damage, so you can get good kills.
