Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
He's excellent in team fights but you can counter jungle him fairly well and if you counter gank you bring more damage to a common 2v2 situation.
Cho'Gath
If he counter ganks, he will bring more damage and cc to the fight. You can avoid his Rupture with Dark Frenzy however and kite him when rupture is on cooldown.
Diana
Diana is tricky. Pre-six your ganking presence should be far superior, but after 6 she becomes a huge threat. Prevent this by snowballing your team early through well placed ganks.
Ekko
Ekko jungle has incredible ganks if only he lands his stun, which isn't easy. If it only slows dark frenzy will do the trick. If he throws Q to slow, dark frenzy will do the trick. Beware his burst, however, and watch for his ult. He can kill you fairly easily if he lands it.
Elise
Elise is an exceptional jungler as of now. Her stun is beyond difficult to avoid, dueling is one of her strengths, she has a dive and you do not. She has hard cc, you do not. You can kill her spiderlings with Hate Spike and kite her since she has no slows, but beware. If she is ahead and she stuns you alone her kill potential is off the charts.
Fiddlesticks
You can't cancel his drain and you can't peel him from your team, but he is so easy to counter jungle. Just creep around in his jungle, wait till he uses his abilities to kill monsters, then do some damage or take his camp. Counter ganking him is powerful if your ally has a hard cc to cancel drain.
Gragas
Gragas is a pain simply because he can soak a lot of damage. He has better CC than you but not better damage. He can be out dueled and counter jungled but counter ganking would be tricky considering his burst and cc's.
Hecarim
Hecarim is fairly unique in the sense that he can react quickly to almost anywhere on the map and is strong throughout the game. He will win duels and can fear you when you use Dark Frenzy to escape a fight and you can't do much about him diving on your carries, but that isn't your job. Your best bet in fights is to ult as many people as you can including him for the slow and let your team worry about Mr. Horsey.
Jarvan IV
He pushes R and you can't escape without flash. Stealth around till he blows ult or willingly dive in and soak as much damage as you can with your ult shield.
Jax
Jax is a problem if he lands his stun. If not you can kite him and out gank him. He does clear well, however, and counter jungling is not advised.
Kayle
You can dark frenzy her slow, so she should never be in a position to solo kill you. You won't out duel her though, but counter ganking Kayle is great when well placed.
Kha'Zix
He can't kill what he can't see. Same goes for you though, so don't all in him without armor or he will outstealth the stealth queen. He's pretty squishy, so it really depends on the player to who is more useful throughout the game. Even match up.
Lee Sin
Lee Sin is a nightmare. He can peel you off his carries, he can duel you, he can counter gank you super effectively, he's even better at taking objectives, and he's too tanky for you to kill by yourself. Be careful in this match up, the only bonus you have is getting around faster to have better map presence.
Master Yi
Yi can't be slowed during Highlander and he can run faster than you. It's a real problem late game. Early game, however, he probably won't be ganking much so snowball your team in his absence and kite him with hate spike.
Nidalee
She can't spear what she can't see, but traps in bushes are problematic. She's super squishy and you can out duel her if you play around her spears and traps, but that's easier said than done.
Nocturne
He can simply be where you are and do more damage and CC better. You can't counter jungle him and dueling him is the last mistake you'll ever make. Early game is where you take the cake, he won't know where you're ganking and won't have an ultimate to stop you, and he can be counter ganked before he builds up some items, so take advantage. His ultimate is only truly a problem at level 11 where it gains significant range.
Olaf
Olaf hurts if he can reach you, which chances are he can't. Dark frenzy counters his only cc and his ganks are garbage. Just don't try to counter jungle or duel him.
Pantheon
Pantheon can be counter ganked but not dueled. You can't kite him with Hate Spike because he has spear shot, but he's fairly squishy and you do spell damage and aren't auto attack reliant so his passive won't help him much.
Rammus
Rammus can taunt you and end your life. Always get mercury treads versus this troll and avoid being taunted in team fights. Work around him to get to carries, no point in focusing him he's a sponge.
Rek'Sai
Rek'sai is mobile and ganky. She can be where you are when you don't want her to and out damage you. Same idea as Nocturne really, but Rek'sai is far less threatening in a dueling situation if she can't knock you up and counter ganking her is wonderful before she builds tanky.
Rengar
Rengar- He can see you, you can't see him. Kinda the opposite of how Evelynn normally plays out. He shouldn't be focusing you, however, if you build some armor and you can do some damage to him if he builds mostly damage items.
Sejuani
Sejuani is far too tanky to die and far too weak to kill you. Plus you destroy half her CC with Dark Frenzy. She's just a cc machine in fights and isn't your priority. Dueling her is fine, but usually pointless. Just out gank her and counter jungle if you're comfortable, she clears terribly and she moves around all slow.
Shaco
Shaco can assassinate assassins. You're an assassin. You can also assassinate Shaco. Is this all a bit confusing? Just wait for him to blow deceive and burst him. His hallucination is the weaker one that takes more damage, doesn't move very fluidly, has no potions or buffs or visual effect like Sheen going, but it does trigger on hit effects like Ravenous Hydra.
Shen
Shen is the homie. But he is a problem for you. Stand United destroys any ability you thought you had to assassinate a carry and taunt will force you to stand and watch as they paint the river with your blood. Avoiding taunt is key, and don't try any funny business till after his ult is down.
Shyvana
She does what you do in team fights, ult the whole team, pick off a carry. Except she's loud and obnoxious about it and can take tons of damage and deal more than you thought was possible. When Shyvana is spending her free time clearing faster than you she's taking objectives you only dream of. Your strength in this match up lies in your team, get them fed. Shyvana has bad ganks pre six and even at 6 she has no reliable CC without stalkers blade.
Skarner
Skarner is kinda a silly guy. No dives, no damage, pretty tanky, and a gimmick ult to drag people around. But he's pretty good and dragging people to his team. Don't be that guy and you'll do fine.
Trundle
Trundle is fat and he hurts a lot when he ults someone. He doesn't dive and he has no reliable cc, but he clears well and soaks damage well. Fairly easy match up.
Tryndamere
This guy can't even slow you, ergo will never kill you. Kite him till he smashes his keyboard and counter gank him. Fighting him pre level 3 is a no go, however.
Udyr
Udyr is a piece of work. You can't kite him and he doesn't have much that you can really work around or outplay. He rolls his face on eqwr and right clicks. Focus on out ganking and taking objectives.
Vi
You and Vi do not have much in common and should not be much of a threat to each other. She does her thing, you do her thing, maybe go for coffee afterwards. If she counter ganks you though, it hurts a lot. Be aware of where she is on the map at all times and place your ganks and counter jungling carefully.
Volibear
Volibear is one of my least favorite champions. He's so big and fat and spongey and still does nuke damage with his bite. He's just gross. Avoid dueling him but he's not much of a threat alone. You will probably never kill him in an average situation.
Warwick
Warwick is the kinda guy that makes League a worse place. A bronze player could win a Diamond game by pushing R on a carry. Gank a lot before 6 and prevent him from getting fed too fast. No matter what, late game he will outscale everyone and their mothers and be a serious problem.
Xin Zhao
Xin Zhao is a dive in and win kinda guy. He's like Vi, except you might be forced to interact with him. He could dive you, he could dive your kids, he could dive your wife, it's pretty unpredictable. Just don't get knocked up and don't stand next to your carry when he's in dash range.
Zac
Zac is silly. Out gank him, out clear him, outplay him. That's really all there is to it if he doesn't get ahead.
Heeyyy guys. This is a guide for Evelynn and is my second mobafire guide. I'm Jynsin, a Diamond 4 league player on the NA servers est. 2010, my twitch is http://www.twitch.tv/sinjinchun and I will be posting videos on my youtube channel, Sinjin Chun and I'm just tryina help out with some knowledge. Evelynn is a super fun champion with a unique kit and a playstyle unlike any other. Her map presence makes even the most confident laner fear for their life away from their tower and even the most confident jungler paranoid of a salty surprise. Any good, bad, ugly, or erroneous components you see on this guide feel free to comment. I appreciate any genuine feedback and hope this guide shows you something new.
Pros / Cons
Pros / Cons
Pros:
-Evelynn has perma stealth, making her scary even when she's not around.
-Unless she's fed, she just doesn't do enough damage to solo assassinate.
-Gets outscaled in most late game situations.
-Her clearing is average
-She's difficult to play
Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush
The only change I could see being effective is armor per level seals instead, or ap per level glyphs, but no point in tampering with an optimal rune page. I would highly recommend this page.

Items
Items
Enchantment: Runeglaive is your best friend. Gives you burst and clear, 2 things Evelynn really needs when she isn't AD.
Stalker's Blade gives you even more burst and is probably the best jungling item on Evelynn overall. Also gives you another CC which you lack a lot of.
Skirmisher's Sabre is useful for situations where you take a lot of damage from the person you're focusing and dealing damage to.
Tracker's Knife Do you want to counter jungle? Do you want to be a team player? Do you want to feel safe? Then this is the item for you.
Sorcerer's Shoes common boots when the enemy team has a spread of AD and AP and no CC that Evelynn could easily succumb to. Or simply when you're ahead and want to do more damage.
Ninja Tabi Boots best against AD teams and auto attack reliant champions.
Mobility Boots Boots best for ganking and ganking and ganking. Stack well with wanderer.
Boot's of swiftness Amaaazzzinnngg. They hit a buff and they jumped to the top 5 of the high value shoe list. Mobi's kinda suck now, Swiftness is the new mobi.
All the other items listed are pretty self explanatory. Randuin's Omen and Frozen Heart for armor, Abyssal Mask Spirit Visage and Banshee's Veil for magic resist, and all those fun AP items for extra damages. Rylais is really important, the other AP items can be swapped out for whatever you feel like. The AP items shown are the items I think are among the best.
Skill Sequence
Skill Sequence
Shadow Walk Is what separates Evelynn from everyone and everything else. Mana is never a problem after a few seconds stealthed and you can surprise nearly anyone for quick burst. It gives Evelynn massive, massive outplay potential and a reign of terror over any Summoner's Rift game as the enemy team is left in wonder whether or not Evelynn is a few short steps away. It forces them to buy pink wards for an extra fee which can be easily cleared, leaving no true counter to this unique mechanic. Except Twisted Fate, but only when he ults.
Hate Spikeyour main damage and clearing ability, and is priority to max before E and W. With Rylai's Crystal Scepter you can kite most melees and prevent any easy escape. Stay out of auto attack range and smash Q while weaving in Runeglaive autos and you have yourself some solid mechanics.
Dark Frenzy is your get out of jail free card, and your main ability to catch unsuspecting foes. it clears all slows, which is useful against champions like Nasus or Nunu & Willump who lean on their massive slows to prevent kiting. Usually I get as close to an enemy as humanly possible without them seeing me then I pop Dark Frenzy or my ultimate the second I'm spotted to get in range for Ravage and Hate Spike.
Ravage This spell is especially useful and tricky because, despite a build of Ability Power, it does physical damage. It has a flat AP ratio, meaning it can nuke and it gives you fat attack speed for clearing and duels, especially when combined with Skirmisher's Sabre.
Agony's Embrace You can nuke and slow an entire team of 5 while gaining an excessively substantial shield in the process. This ability, however, has no flat base number of damage. It only does a percentage of the enemy's current health, meaning it will do next to nothing if they are low. A max health champion, say with 3000 health could take a third of their health in damage, so 1000, while a champion with 600 health could take 150 damage. Use it to initiate.
Spells
Spells
Flash is pretty great because Evelynn has no dives or blinks. It gives her much needed versatility and a flash out of stealth can be golden.
Smite is of course the most necessary ability for any jungler.
Ignite this instead of flash isn't very wise but you may just pull it off in the right situation.
Any other spell you may think of, I probably wouldn't recommend. Just get flash guys. There's a reason it's the top spell in the game since season 1.
Creeping / Jungling
Creeping / Jungling
I follow a jungle path of:
Purple Side- Gromp to Blue to Wolves to Red to Golems then back and buy stalker's blade and 3 health potions. With Stalker's I start to land some ganks.
Blue Side- Golems to Red to Blue, then I either gank or take wolves then raptors then back and buy.
Here I'll post some videos of me in a basic normal game playing Evelynn. I was still learning her in these videos, but they're all I have for now. I went 33-8 I believe in one and 16-5 in the other. (or around there). I don't remember my assists, but those are just as important if not more important as a jungler. I lost the 33-8 game because all the gold was focused on me and my team couldn't do much without the money (don't take kills ladies and gentleman) I also tried to duel talon a few times but as I said earlier, Evelynn just isn't the type for solo adventures. Plus I messed around and threw at the end. The 16-5 game was much more skillful and displays how I carried my team after I was badly on tilt and fed, but pulled us back into the game when we were behind. Keep in mind these are just normals with, most likely, bronze to gold players. Not that hard of games.
Notice how I position myself so that Hate Spike hits as many monsters as possible when clearing and I utilize the attack speed bonus of Ravage before I kite around with Hate Spike on monsters.

Summary
Summary
Evelynn isn't Yi, she doesn't jump in and right click. Play tactically and don't make yourself the main target, you carry by forcing your team to carry you. Get them fed off kills while you get fed off what they can't take and assists. I hope you liked this guide, I will be practicing Evelynn much more in the future and editing what I see fit. Thanks for taking the time :)
