Galaxy Kayle

Hello summoners,

Welcome to my Jungle/Top Kayle Build Guide. I'm TheGalaxyGuy. I play in the EUW server. This is actually my first Build Guide, so I hope you guys like it. I am planning to start a youtube channel too, but I'm not sure how fast it'll come online because my internet is pretty bad at the moment and I don't know when we get better internet.

Kayle in general/When to pick

Kayle functions well in any lane, but I think you can play her most successfull in either top lane and in the jungle. Kayle preforms a tipical damage dealer role for her team in mid game. Most top laners have that role too, and in the jungle it's very helpfull with ganking lanes. Kayle's top is designed to counter enemy bruisers with her kiting power, ranged harass, and her ultimate. She can slow them when they try go engage, so she can escape from the melee distance (With Frozen Mallet this works even better) and if they backoff from the engage, she can simply spam them in her range form. Kayle jungle is extremely strong because she has good ganking tools. She can slow their enemies, go in with a movement speed bonus and turret dive with her ultimate.

Kayle is a good pick against most melee champions. She can spam them from a distance and you can use the tactic above to beat them if they engage. Still you can't play her well against all the melee champions. Champions like Vi and Tryndamere have jumps and slows, so they can come in their melee range and kill you pretty hard.

Summoner spells

Jungle Kayle:

Smite: Just the normal jungle spell
Ghost: Great spell for ganking, coming in range for Righteous Fury and Reckoning and escaping from tough situations.

Top Kayle:

Ignite: For dealing extra damage or dealing the last bit of damage to get the kill even if your enemy escaped with a little HP left.
Flash: For escaping from tough situations or positioning well in teamfights.
2nd choise on top:
Ghost: Great spell for ganking, coming in range for Righteous Fury and Reckoning and escaping from tough situations.

Holy Fervor (passive): Kayle's basic attacks against enemy champions reduce their armor and magic resistance by 3% for 5 seconds. This debuff stacks up to 5 times.
This passive is the main reason why you should build attack speed in your items. With a lot of attack speed you have stacked this buff pretty fast, so you can kill your enemy better. Especially while you are going to gank a lane as a jungler always think of this passive. If you hit your enemy while you positioning yourself you stack this ability and you'll have a lead when you start to fight him.

Reckoning (Q): Kayle blasts a target enemy, dealing magic damage, slowing its movement speed for 3 seconds and applying one stack of Holy Fervor.
Take this as your main damage tool while playing top. The slow really helps you out against a lot of champions and it helps you with the tactic i called in the previous chapter.
While jungling Reckoning helps you getting in range while ganking or you can use it to clear your camps just a little faster.
Using your Reckoning in combination with your Divine Blessing helps you to come in range even more.

Divine Blessing (W): Blesses a target allied champion, healing them and increasing their movement speed for 3 seconds.
Most Kayle players underestimate this ability, but it is a great ability on a champion like Kayle. As i already said above, you can use this ability in combination with your Reckoning to come in range for shutting anybody down. This ablilty also helps you to be faster between jungle camps or to be back in your lane faster. Don't forget the heal. It's not a great amount of HP, but it gives you a little bit sustain in lane and helps you to not get low from creep camps in the jungle.

Righteous Fury (E): Kayle ignites her sword and becomes ranged for 10 seconds, granting her bonus magic damage on her attacks and increasing her attack range by 400 (525 total range). Additionally, attacks on any units damage other enemies within 150 range of the target. This is called the "splash-zone".
This ability is the major thing of Jungle Kayle. The AoE damage from the splash-zone and the extra damage on you basic attacks really help you out in your early jungle route and in the mid-/lategame jungle you clear camps very fast because of this amazing flames. In lane you can use this to get more farm and to spam your enemies constantly because of the low mana cost of Righteous Fury. With this ability, the slow from Reckoning and the movement speed bonus from Divine Blessing you can practically always deal damage to your opponents and force them to go back to base.

Intervention (R): Kayle bathes a target ally champion or herself in holy light, rendering the champion immune to all damage for a few seconds.
This is Kayle's ultimate. It makes you immune to all the damage dealt. Great to protect your AD/AP carry or yourself in teamfights. Another thing you can do with this ability is using it during a turret dive or during your escape route.

Important: You guys have to promise me only one thing when you use my guide. Never, never, NEVER use your Intervention or Divine Blessing on a Teemo. Everybody hates Teemo and Teemo players are the most awefull ones in our whole community. Thanks for listening to me :)

Maxing your Righteous Fury first causes the AD ratio on this ability to go up. On top of this, this ability is Kayle's only AoE ability. AoE in the jungle is very handy to clear neutral monster camps faster. You shouldn't max your Reckoning first in the jungle. The only way you can change this ability order is maxing your Divine Blessing before maxing your Reckoning for more movement speed or heal amount. The reason I don't do this is because I prefer the slow and the damage output on Reckoning by reason of the main function Kayle has in the team (damage dealer).

I recommend maxing your Reckoning first on top Kayle for the good AD and AP ratio on it. Maxing this causes you to deal tons of damage with only 1 bash on your Q button. Maxing your Righteous Fury first is possible too. If you do this, you have a less powerfull burst damage, but a better damage output overall. If your playing style is more of the burst, max your Q, if not, max your E. Maxing your Divine Blessing earlier on is again an option, but i definitely don't recommend that.

Start at the blue buff. Use your Righteous Fury whenever possible and deal the killing blow with Smite. After the blue, you go to your wolves. Use Divine Blessing to heal a bit and to travel to the next camp faster. Use your Righteous Fury again to kill the wolves and go further to the wraiths. From here on you can choose your own jungle route. Level your Righteous Fury at lvl 3 for jungling further or your Reckoning if you see an opportunity to gangk someone. Don't forget to use your Divine Blessing to travel faster and heal while jungling.

Kayle counters these champions


  • You can deny his ultimate with yours
  • He has no mobility skills
  • He is easy to gank
  • You can poke him quite hard


  • You can poke him while being out of range of his poison prison
  • He can't swing you up if you're poking him with Righteous Fury


  • You can harass him more with your Righteous Fury then he can
  • You can kill him if his E is down. He has no other escape abilities


  • You can easily do unpunishable damage
  • You can beat his Vicious Strikes sustain with harassing him
  • If you build tanky, he can't kill you with his ultimate


  • With armor penetration and early sustain you can destroy his ability to stay in lane for a long time
  • With avoiding his Shadow Dash you can beat him pretty hard
  • If you don't avoid it and the situation is bad, you always have your ultimate to protect yourself

These champions counter Kayle


  • Shield blocks a portion of your damage
  • He has a gap closer
  • His spears do more burst than your AAs
  • If Kayle slows him, he stuns and nukes her
  • If Kayle harasses him, he stuns and nukes her
  • Kayle is generally to squishy to fight against Pantheon


  • Anivia's attack speed slow really hurts Kayle when they trade in lane.
  • The stun is also a big problem for Kayle


  • Strong sustain
  • Hurtfull combo
  • He can disengage. If you use your Q, he'll just use his own

Jarvan IV

  • When he has his e+q he can harass you and force you to go back
  • Jarvan can use his flag to escape even when his movement speed is reduced by Kayle Q.
  • Even though this points, Kayle can still beat Jarvan IV because of her great harass and because she can use her ulti wisely, but a good Jarvan IV can be pretty heavy
