Playing as mordekaiser.
Hello, I am Itreallyhim, Im a mordekaiser onetrick, Currently with over 750k Mastery points, Gathered from live and PBE combined, Im a D3 player that has been playing since season 5, This is my guide i have decided to put together. Read the notes for most of the information
His Abilities
Playing as mordekaiser is the ultimate Solocarry champion, His impact on single targets is massive, he has some of the strongest laning in the game and i have fallen deep in love with his kit.
His Q: Obliterate Is a Semi-short cooldown, Aoe slam, that deals extra damage to isolated targets, This will be your main damage ability, You can Q-Flash to catch opponents off guard.
His W: Indestructible Is a shield, that can turn into a heal, The heal is decent but the shield is what really makes this ability powerful. Use it when low on health to maximize your last stand damage if you build Deaths Dance, abuse the bleed to block bursts with my W, After taking a burst, W to block the bleed with your shield.
His E: Death's Grasp Is an ability similar to Swains E, Except it functions like blitzcranks hook, It will pull targets towards you, Or swipe them away from you depending on where you place it. If you cast it forwards it will pull enemies towards you, But if you cast it behind you, it will do a "Reverse rake" as i call it, and shove enemies away if they are chasing you.
His R: Realm of death Can be used for so many things, Dodging attacks, Removing threats, And focusing strong targets, Read Matchups for an indepth of all the uses i have found so far.
His Passive: Darkness rise Is an aura that procs after 3 Abilities, Autos or Both mixed on either Large monsters or champions Will work as the Pre-rework morde's W when he was in connection range, An aura around you will deal damage scaling with % Health, also granting you A decent movespeed buff.

Other good items for morde.
Deadmans is good because: Movespeed and auto damage proc!Liandrys: Good item in general for champs with low CD base spells (Q) Does well with his Passive aswell.Morello: For healing reduction if enemy has, Warwick, Xin, Soraka EtcSpirit visage: For MR and healing increase, very good item.Gunblade: Good if youre feeling healy.Nashors: Really good item, good synergy with mordes kit and has some great raw stats.Randuins: Against heavy crit comps, Yasuo, Adcs etc.Sunfire, If against heavy AD and you have a tank-ish engage teammate. (Still good without)Hydra: Insane waveclear, auto reset, good scaling with Grasp and Overgrowth.Witts: Good healing and much stronger autos.ZZ: Good if you want to end quickly and you are ahead.Thornmail: Read Morello. (Against AD comps)Ohmwrecker: If you feel like diving for days.BORK: Good autos, strong active, % health scaling.AH: Good against AP comps who spam spells, Syndra, Kata, Ziggs etc.Banshee: Good against heavy CC comps.Mercs: For comps with alot of CC.Tabis: For comps with alot of Auto attackers, Or AD.Sorcs: If you want to deal alot of dmg, or if you are ahead.I wouldnt recommend other boots.
Pros And cons
Pros:
Morde deals crazy high damage in the mid to lategame, his scalings are bonkers and can really dish out some heavy damage.
He has a lot of AOE damage, Q, E and Passive.
Singular target lockdown, That can be used to dodge a large amount of things ( See Matchup guides)
Decent Sustain, Great shove and good trading.
Cons:
Very kitable if you miss E.
Long cooldowns.
Easily caught, No real escape, Immobile.

Your goal as mordekaiser
In the early game you want to focus on getting ahead, either by snowballing, or getting a farm lead, some matchups are easier than others (obviously) and some are a bit tougher, in which you need to try to get a farm lead or at least equal farm.
In the mid game your goal is to push your second turret on top, mid or bot, then roam the map and pick kills, and by the kills you can do objectives like towers, dragons or maybe even herald. Try your best to help your team and get a lead going for your side of the map.
In the lategame your goal is pretty much the same as midgame, except you should be more careful when trying to pick off opponents, especially if you are the fed member on your team, if you fail you're letting your teammates die, try your best not to die in the lategame. Try your best not to die in general.

What about Jungle?
Mordekaiser jungle is not for me, it can probably be used, but its the only time i've felt useless in my team playing my new champion, going jungle just removes most of your impact on the game, the sheer pressure that you apply to the map when you are rampaging on a lane, shredding your enemies to tears. In the jungle he feels kind of Meh, not so viable IMO but it could definitely be used if you are a great jungler, Best of luck to you who play morde jungle!
Why do i play morde?
I picked up morde as my new champion in 2016, i found him on the cheap row of the champion store, back when he was 3150, i instantly fell in love with his kit, the way that he could dish out loads of damage and just his overall METAL gameplay as a whole, i loved mordekaiser till the end, my favorite skin back then was King of Clubs, without a doubt (No pizzafeet xd). I got him to around 1.8mil Mastery points before he was reworked into the monster he is now.
I play mordekaiser for his utility, his map pressure and the large amount of damage he can output in a short moment, As most of the "New" champions they all have some crazy high damage or some stupid ability that makes you rage in chat and want to quit, Morde has both, His ult is a rage machine and his damage is beyond imagination.
His kit is super versatile and can be used in so many situations for so many different things, his e can Pull, his e can shove, His ult can cage, his ult can dodge certain abilities, or remove certain abilites (For you) from the map.
Hes a superb teamfighter because he can remove a massive threat from your team, obviously you are gonna be gone aswell, but being able to remove a fed carry from your teams shoulders is a great relief, His ability to shove is also incredible, his roaming is not the best but his kit really makes up for it. He has a decent laning phase and some good trading power.
I love playing the new mordekaiser and i feel like riot really did a good job on this one, He is getting nerfed Sadly but i understand, I also didn't have a good time playing against him for the first time. But i hope they can balance him and put him in a good spot, hopefully we will see him in the pro scene someday.

Warding
When playing as mordekaiser, you probably want to place down some wards to get some AREA control.
Red: Priority wards, these can be used if you are ahead and you know you can catch the enemy jungler if he does appear on the spots, you know you can kill him, and still stay alive after doing so.
Green: Normal wards, for when you are equal in lane, and just wanna make sure you dont want to get ganked, also very useful for general vision and securing that the enemies aren't taking objectives in the lategame (Pixelbush wards)
Orange: Situational, Depending on the enemies teamcomp, and how your teammates are doing, Is your jungler struggling? Pop a ward in your own jungle and roam down to help him if hes in a pinch, For botlane, the situational wards are for when you play ADC. The tribush on your side if you're equal, The tribush on enemy site if you wanna try and catch the enemy jungler at their gromp.

Runes
PTA: Incredibly situational, i can see it being used, but i would not use this on mordekaiser as he focuses more on his abilities rather than his autos.Lethal Tempo: Read PTA.Fleet: I sometimes use this, its good for sustain and a tiny burst of movespeed, but used mostly for the sustain and the access to the presicion page.Conq: The most common rune for mordekaiser players, the rune is overloaded and gives a ton of benefits, read my conq runepage for further information.Electrocute: This is what i currently use the most, i like the all around damage it gives, and the access to doing some harsher bursts and trades in lane, overall a solid rune for mordekaiser IMO.Predator: Not viable, maybe in the jungle, otherwise a waste of runes.DH: I can see it being used, i haven't tried it myself yet, but i assume that you can get a stack everytime you ult which seems pretty good, but there are much more solid picks.HOB: Read PTA, Lethal tempo.Aery: Not the best, i tried it and it didnt perform as well as some other runes, it can definitely still be used in tough matchups just to get some extra poke in.Comet: Just no, Your E pulls the target away from the comet, and your Q is way up close to make an impact.Phase rush: Solid rune for sticking onto enemies, i sometimes use this aswell, overall a good rune for matchups with mobile or annoying champions.Grasp: This was my goto rune before electrocute, its very solid and gives you a bunch of extra stats combined with the rest of the resolve tree, It usually amounts to 300~ Extra HP per game which is very gold efficient. Read further on my Grasp page.Aftershock: Situational, i can see it work as a Cliche mage aftershock pick, this does require you to hit your E though, or else youre wasting a rune.Guardian: Maybe for support mordekaiser, otherwise no, Cant see a situation where this outmatches any other runes.Glacial: Can work, can be super annoying to play against, but with mordekaisers kit he really doesnt need the slow as he already has enough to stay on an enemy, and Phase rush is better.Klepto: Matchup dependant, If you can get close and get autos for free, go for it, otherwise take something else.Spellbook: Depends on your playstyle, can be good if used correct, but other runes are more viable.
