Introduction

Hello and welcome to my fourth build on mobafire, one for Leona, the radiant dawn!

This build is focused around gaining maximum CDR, allowing for frequent stuns, which allows you to even stunlock any opponent of your choice. I have stunlocked the other team's carry many times, and finished them off on my own, while my team takes the other 4 people on.

If you try this build and have success / failure, comment and come with feedback!

Leona's base statistics
Damage 55 (+3 / per level)
Health 430 (+87 / per level)
Mana 235 (+40 / per level)
Move Speed 310
Armor 18 (+3.1 / per level)
Spell Block 30 (+0 / per level)
Health Regen 1.8 (+0.17 / per level)
Mana Regen 1.4 (+0.14 / per level)

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ Durable
+ Able to "fly" in and stun
+ A great CC ult
+ Can deal some heavy damage/cc and even kill from level 4
+ Decent farmer

Cons

- Easy to harass early on
- Every ability costs quite a bit of mana
- Flying in at a bad timing can result in death
- Item reliant
- Only decent farmer with Eclipse

Runes

I use Magic Resist / Level to help improve my tank statistics as magic resist is a bit hard to build without investing into more than 2 items.

I also use Armor / Level for the same reason, although it results in 24 at lv. 18, as opposed to the magic resistance that goes up to 44 at lv. 18. Armor is easier to build up so I don't use as many runes into it

Lastly, I go for Magic Penetration to be able to deal a little bit more damage.

Summoner Spells

My Choices

Heal - Is now very viable from it's remake. It fits leona perfect and allows your team to live longer.

Flash - Utility spell, can be used to everything.

Useable

Ghost - Utility spell, I used to go for ghost over teleport but I feel now that Heal is even more useful than ghost and teleport.

Exhaust - Anti-Carry spell, can be used to save someone from their carry.

Ignite - If you need that last bit of damage, although you should be with your team!

Teleport - Useable to stop a push / push, can also be used as an escaping tool.

Not recommended

Clairvoyance - Support spell, I don't like it on Leona.

Clarity - You are not very mana reliant.

Smite - Not a jungler.

Revive - Even if you die, it's for your teammates to win.

Surge - Not an option.

Cleanse - You can survive a whole lot of cc without dying, this is a waste.

Skill Sequence

Cooldown 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 / 7
Damage 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160
Mana cost 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 / 65
Ratios +30% Ability Power
Effect
Stuns for 1.25 seconds.

"Leona uses her shield to perform her next autoattack, dealing bonus magic damage and stunning the target."

This is leonas stun that grants her allies a chance to catch up / slow and things like that.

Cooldown 14
Damage 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260
Mana cost 60
Ratios +40% Ability Power
Effect
Raises her Armor and Magic Resistance by 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70

"Leona raises her shield to gain Armor and Magic Resistance. When the duration first ends, if there are nearby enemies she will deal magic damage to them and prolong the duration of the effect."

This is leonas farming ability, it allows her to weaken the minions enough to be able to finish them rather quickly, if she has enough mana for it. It is also very good to use for teamfighting to make you even more bulky.

Cooldown 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9
Damage 60 / 100 / 140 / 180 / 220
Mana cost 60
Ratios +40% Ability Power
Effect Throws a blade, on connect with enemy champion, immobilizes them for 0.5 seconds.

"Leona projects a solar image of her sword, dealing magic damage to all enemies in a line. When the image fades, the last enemy champion struck will be briefly immobilized and Leona will dash to them."

Great spell to catch up with someone, however be cautious with the range as it has a low chance to hit on its max range, is it is somewhat shorter than shown. Can be used in conjunction with Shield of Daybreak and Eclipse to make some heavy damage combos.

Cooldown 90 / 75/ 60
Damage 150 / 250 / 350
Mana cost 100 / 150 / 200
Ratios +80% Ability Power
Effect
Causes CC based on where on the circle they got hit;
Hit at center - 1.5 second stun
Hit at edges - 90% slow for 1.5 seconds

"Leona calls down a beam of solar energy, dealing damage to enemies in an area. Enemies in the center of the area are stunned, while enemies on the outside are slowed."

Teamfight altering ultimate, it either stuns or slows, so if you can catch everyone in it, you will drasticly change the outcome. Also useable to catch someone far away, or save a teammate.

*Innate*
Effect Leona's damaging spells affect the target with Sunlight for 3.5 seconds. When allied champions deal damage to those targets, they consume the Sunlight debuff to deal additional magic damage.

The skill order is as follows;

Some combos that you can use as Leona:

Zenith Blade, followed by Shield of Daybreak - offensive move, be careful who you hit last with zenith blade, as it can get you killed if you are not cautious.

Eclipse, followed by Zenith Blade and Shield of Daybreak - very offensive move, but your best. Eclipse gets to explode in their face by the time your stun from shield of daybreak is gone.

Eclipse, followed by Zenith Blade, Shield of Daybreak and Solar Flare - ultimate combo. you charge eclipse, "fly" in with zenith blade, stun the target, cast solar flare right on spot and before it hits, eclipse will explode. This deals a large amount of base damage. Damage is 220 + 160(+109[AD]) + 260 + 350 = 1099 base damage, negated a bit due to magic resistance.

Items

I start with Doran's Shield most of the time for the tank stats it gives.

Then my core items is usually like this.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity - Cdr.
Frozen Heart - Heavy armor, cdr, mana and -%as aura.
Force of Nature - Heavy magic resist and regen.
Warmog's Armor - Heavy Health item and regen.

These items allow me to stay quite durable to most damage with a quite high health maximum. This also allows me to have maximum CDR, letting me stun very often and even stunlock enemies.

Balanced team

Core items +
Banshee's Veil - allows spell block and some Magic Resistance.
+ the all around item
Trinity Force - allows some boost in everything, only buy if they are not being threatening to you and you'd like some more damage.
Guardian Angel - Extra life, even more tanky.
Atma's Impaler - Allows some damage for you.

Attack Damage heavy

Core items +
Randuin's Omen - slow, hp and armor.
+ either of
Trinity Force - Allows some boost in everything.
Thornmail - Counters AD.

Ability Power heavy

Core items +
Banshee's Veil - Allows spell block, magic resist.
+ either of
Force of Nature - one more for increased magic resist and regen.
Abyssal Mask - magic resistance, lowers magic resists of nearby champions, increasing your damage too.

Farming

How do you farm? It's simple, you farm with Eclipse, at high ranks, that along with Zenith Blade will kill the minions, or leave them at very low amounts. Yet, Eclipse is better to farm with, as it is an aoe.

However, when do you farm? If you lane solo, farm as much as possible, if you lane with a carry, try to leave out most for your carry, but if they have a hard time getting the minions, take them as well. It's better for your team if both your carry and you get farm instead or your carry getting same farm and you dont get it.

Team Work

The last thing is, how do you help your team as Leona in teamfights?

The answer is simple, you can choose from many things:

1. You engage their whole team and try to shut down as many as possible.
2. You engage their carry and shut them down completely with repeated stuns.

When retreating, you can do the following:

1. Use your ultimate to ensure the escape of your team, preferably yourself too.
2. Sacrifice yourself to deal as much damage as possible and let your team escape. (Last Resort)

When chasing, you can do the following:

1. use the Eclipse, followed by Zenith Blade and Shield of Daybreak combo to catch up.
2. use the Eclipse, followed by Zenith Blade, Shield of Daybreak and Solar Flare combo to catch up.
3. Don't chase
