Introduction

Hello,this is my Janna support guide!I might say things that are in other guides,i might say some new things,i don't know.It's just my personal opinion.I see Janna as a protector for the ad carry with her Eye of the Storm and that's not all!She can protect her whole team with her Howling Gale and Monsoon!

Masteries

Offense


Summoner's Wrath is for the exhaust bonus.10 armor and 10 mr lowered can be the difference between a 25 hp and a 0 hp enemy Graves nuked by your Corki.

Defense


Hardiness is the only mastery here.It gives you the extra armor you need in lane.
Why not use more mastery points here?You already have the survivability you need from the runes.

Utility


This is the basic mastery tree for supports.
Summoner's Insight for the flash cooldown.
Good Hands to be able to aid your team in fights asap.
Expanded Mind for the aditional mana you need.
Swiftness Added to Janna's Zephyr and Tailwind makes you super fast to be able to help your team asap.
Meditation again for the mana.
Scout comes in handy!
Greed and Wealth for the money.You're not farming,so..you need them.
Sage comes in handy in early level kills.You level harder than your adc,or that's how you want to,so..if you are able to pick kills on bottom along your adc,it's good to have!
Intelligence Good cdr.This added to the build gets you to a 41% cdr,that's a little bit over the cap!
Mastermind We all want that flash asap after used,and even that exhaust for another fight to be won,don't we?

Runes


These are the runes i'd recommend for a safe janna play.

Runes explanation

Greater Mark Of Replenishment is for the mana problems you have early game or even late game if you didn't go to base lately.

The main enemy on bottom lane is the enemy ad carry,isn't he?Well,to make sure you don't feed and survive as much as you can,some armor is always useful!And the armor will make your
shield available for your adc at most times!

is good for the maokai/malphite/diana junglers that deal magic damage,they hurt too!If you have an ad jungler you can go for Greater Glyph of Armor or for more mana with Greater Glyph of Replenishment.

is the quintesence i'd go for.You need that gold,since you're not farming but you should get useful marks/glyphs/seals for your lane.This is just the addition you need to be great.

Exhaust: Best spell after flash.And you have 10 armor&mr reduction from masteries!

Skill Explanation


Tailwind

2% More movement speed.Always good on Janna


Howling Gale

Your Q is a Tornado that charges up for up to 4 seconds,popping up in the air and damaging everybody hit.

Tips and tricks:
  • Disrupts movement of the enemy.
  • Intrerupts spells like Warwick's and Malzahar's ults.
  • Can help pushing
  • Slows down enemy minions

Zephyr

Gives you a passive movement speed boost and slows down an enemy,dealing damage as active.

Tips and tricks:
  • Good along your boots+shurelya
  • Slows an enemy,so target the runner!!

Eye of the Storm

Shields your ally boosting his ad for 5 sec or until shield's down.
Tips and tricks:
  • Shield-use it when ur teammate is attacked
  • AD boost.Shield your Varus when he uses ur Q,for example.
  • In teamfights,consider shielding your tank for more damage taken or shielding your adc for more damage output.

Monsoon

Pushes all enemies away in a circle around you,and your allies in that circle take heal every 1 second for 4 seconds(Channeled!)

Tips and tricks:
  • Use it quickly to push enemies away and run
  • If you Monsoon somebody into a wall,he gets a mini-stun
  • The heal is good at level 6,so you can push enemies into the wall and heal ur ally to win a fight
  • Intrerupt for channels.

Items


+3xSight Ward+2x +1x is the start build.
First recall,buy and Sight Wards if needed.
NEVER have less than 2 Sight Ward when leaving base.
Your next money goes into Philosopher's stone and then
Now you have your gold per 10.Usually,you go for a or,if you feel you're doing alright with the lane but you need more mana and you fear the midlane enemy,then get .
After finish your .
Now it's the time to buy our Oracle's Potion if we haven't.It helps you clear all the wards the enemy has and it puts pressure on your enemy when some members of your team disappear.
My last two items are and .They give you some damage in fights,and some more heal/shield for your allies.If you can get one of them around midgame,you can clear waves while your team is dead,if needed,or help pushing down the enemy turrets.
SIGHT WARD is the most important item for you.You have an empty slot for them.If you don't have oracles,get .

Which boots should i get?
Well,there's no need for ,because you'll have 40% cdr.So,your choice can be or if you really want that speed,you can get





Situational items

a)

You want more support items


Zeke's Herald is good if you have an ally such as
gives a pretty nice aura but i just don't like it.
can be picked over but the shield seems bad to me(Maximum of 180+50=230) compared to the active of the Randuin's Omen.
this is definetly a good item.No comment.You get HP,you get manaregen,and you get cdr.Your mates also get cdr+manaregen.

b)

You want more AP or want other AP items


is a good choice for your ap mid,as long as you can stay in range.You've got a LeBlanc?No problem,pick this!
Ok,good to slow your enemies while they're running.Stacks with your W and works with your Q and R.
I consider this item as pure-ap champion requirement.You only get mana,mana regen and ap from it.It doesn't help your team at all,and it doesn't make you able to stay alive for more.
Nice if you have a kennen/vlad/rumble in your team indeed.But more than that,you don't need the spellvamp.
Well,i don't see this much of an viable item for Janna because it intrerupts your Ultimate,You can't activate Q,can't use W or can't even shield your ally.And you don't want to escape your enemy just to let your team die.Might work if you have an enemy team based on AD: Xin Zhao Vayne Fiora have three different possible roles.In such case,yes,you can buy a Zhonya,and it's better than a Thornmail imo.

Let your ad carry farm and shield him if he fights/pokes.Simple as that.
