Champion Build Guide

Null And Void | Kassadin JG | Updated to Season 11

By Grayified
Introduction
Hi! I'm Grayified! I stream lots of games on Twitch, and League of Legends is one of the games I stream the most!

I wrote this guide due to the fact that I just had a thought one time, that thought being "Kassadin Jungle would be pretty good, I think."
While that wasn't necessarily wrong, it does take some practice and work to get to it being a strong pick. Let's see the pros + cons!
Pros + Cons
Pros
+ Amazingly strong late game
+ Strong Ganks after level 6
+ Stupidly OP Clear after level 6
+ 1v9 Potential
+ High AOE damage
+ Snowball potential is GIANT
+ Splitpushes well
+ Rewarding to put a lot of time into

Cons
- Weak clear early
- Difficult to begin with
- High ban rate
- Takes a while to scale
- High mana costs

Now that we know the Pros & Cons of Kassadin and playing him in the jungle, let's see why we bring the runes we do!
Summoner Spells
Since we are going Jungle Kassadin, Smite is necessary.
I personally use Flash but I can see other spells being viable such as Ignite or Teleport alongside Smite, but I would recommend Flash while you are learning Kassadin, and then you should try the other spells once you're familiar with the playstyle.
Runes

My video sums this up well, but you can read if you'd prefer!

Fleet Footwork is useful because it gives you sustain for your clear, which is very important for Kassadin.
Presence of Mind is very important because Kassadin has high mana costs, and this fixes that.
Legend: Tenacity is the best of the 3 legend runes for Kassadin as he doesn't need life steal or attack speed (life steal only applies to damage dealt by basic attacks)
Last Stand is a very good rune for Kassadin as it allows him to be useful even when behind, by allowing him to win close 1v1 fights in the mid game. Coup de Grace is also a good rune, but I would recommend Last Stand instead.

Gathering Storm is a very important rune on Kassadin, as it's free AP that scales with time, and Kassadin is a late game champ.
Manaflow Band is a rune that I'd recommend, but Transcendence, Absolute Focus and Nimbus Cloak are viable runes that you can bring instead.
Items
This video explains the topic well, but you can read if you prefer!
Starting Items

Emberknife is important to Kassadin in most situations, although it might seem like a strange buy, the challenging smite will end up going well with your mid/late game, as you dont need help chasing
and your Fleet Footwork.

You need the 3 Health Potions rather than a Refillable Potion due to the fact that you need the healing in your early clear but afterwards you'll be fine.

First Back

Tear of the Goddess is very important to buy early, as it supplies Kassadin with a lot of mana which will be useful when he hits level 6.

Core

Dark Seal is a key item, as it enables you to snowball very well, with it's passive.

Rod of Ages is a semi-defensive item that is useful, but not necessary. It is for if you'd rather be playing safe than aggressive. You may skip this and move on to:

Archangel's Staff is an upgrade to the Tear of the Goddess you bought before. It allows you to gain mana faster, and converts mana into AP.

Boots

Sorcerer's Shoes is useful for nearly all situations, as it gives you Magic Penetration, which is very useful on Kassadin.

Boots of Swiftness is helpful as it gives you the ability to get around the map quicker than usual, although it doesn't do much else than speed. It's synergy with Riftwalk is so dumb, as nobody can chase or kite you.

Mobility Boots are useful for getting around the map, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Mercury's Treads and Ninja Tabi are good if you are into 4 AD/4 AP teams, or teams with stupidly high CC, otherwise they aren't great and you should stick with Sorcerer's Shoes or Boots of Swiftness

Defensive Items
Note: Only pick one of these!

Banshee's Veil is useful into AP teams, as it gives a spell shield and magic resist.

Zhonya's Hourglass is useful into all teams, but especially AD teams as it gives you the ability to go into Statis and it supplies you with armor.

Morellonomicon is useful into teams with healing, but it is just a generally good item as it gives health, AP, grievous wounds and magic penetration.

Late Game Items

Mejai's Soulstealer is essential, as it is an upgrade of your Dark Seal and as you get towards the end of the game, the stacking on it is very useful as you should be capable of 1v5 fights.

Rabadon's Deathcap is also an essential late game item, as it boosts your AP by an additional 40% while supplying 120 AP.

Liandry's Torment is useful for it's burn, increased damage in extended fights, and it's raw stats, but the tradeoff is that you also cannot have this and Void Staff.

Void Staff is useful for it's AP and magic penetration. You also cannot have both this and Liandry's Torment.
Jungle Clear

Please watch the video for an advanced guide, the text guide is very simplified!

In kassadin's clear, you want to look to path from Blue to Gromp to Red, then go for Rift Scuttler then soak up a wave of XP from mid without taking gold, then go for Murk Wolves. The jungle pathing becomes more freestyle after that, but you should follow the video above to further understand.
